Jack takes a package delivery while wearing his nifty new UPS jacket for the first time. The driver said "Wow, who do you know at UPS who ordered you a jacket?" I think that might have been the BEST COMPLIMENT EVER!
Used, in conjunction with a dial guage, to set ignition timing on motorcycles with points ignition, particularly two-strokes.
Possibly dates back to around 1969-70.
This is a photograph from the Longwood GAA 10KM Road Race and Fun Run 2013 which was held in Longwood Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 13th October 2013 at 14:00. This is the fourth year which Longwood GAA have hosted race events. In the three previous years the club had organised a 5KM road race. This year, for the first time, the club have added a 10KM road race to the agenda on the day. The events were organised as fundraisers for both the adult and juvenille teams at Longwood GAA club. The event also provided a fundraising opportunity for the local St. Vincent de Paul charity. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided my local fun runners with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course.

Longwood is a small village in South East Co. Meath and is close to the town of Enfield with access to the M4 Motorway.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There were about 170 participants over the two events.
Weather: The weather was perfect for road racing with calm breeze and temperatures around 10C.
5KM Course: The 5KM course changed direction for the 2013 event. The race this year went on the reverse of the 2012 route. This seen the 5KM start at the Longwood GAA grounds and proceed into Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.
10KM Course: The 10KM is new for 2013. The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Stoney's Pub (goo.gl/maps/Of4fW) and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a photograph from the second annual Kilcock Kilomarathon 2013 which was held at Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 6th October at 11:00. This event follows on from the very successful inaugural event last year. The event today also included a 6KM Fun Run and Walk. There was also a specially organised officially recognised marathon which allowed competitors to complete the 6KM course seven times for the marathon distance. The main event was the kilomarathon which is approximately 26.3 kilometers (a little over 16 miles). The race started and ended in Kilcock GAA club and took a left turn route out to Newtown, then Donadea The Range, Tirmoghan, and returning back via the Clane Road Roundabout to Kilcock GAA. There was a slight change to last year's route which brought the race out on the Kilcock AC 5KM Road Race route for 1km. This is a tough challenging course which brings runners up the locally famous 'Newtown Hill' (see Google Street View goo.gl/maps/VbHUo) and across by Donadea Forest. There was stewarts position at every junction point in the race.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 200 participants between the Kilomarathon and the 6KM Race.
Weather: This was a relatively dry day with very light showers at times. The temperatures were a little higher than one would expect for early October with temperatures around 16C. There was a light breeze.
Course: The entire route does not actually bring the race into Kilcock town at all as the race never actually crosses the railway or Royal Canal both which run through the town slighly south-easterly towards Dublin. Leaving Kilcock GAA the race route follows country roads westerly until the course passes Knockanally Golf and Country Club. The direction then turns south until it turns again at Donadea Forest park brings the race back in a north-easterly direction towards Kilock. The course was very well marshalled with marshals at every junction. There was also a very significant Garda presence at major road crossings and junctions.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive array of refreshments provided for participants afterwards in Kilcock GAA. There were showers and changing rooms also provided.

WREROC Mk II Missile Camera
The Weapons Research Establishment Roll Orientation Camera was designed in 1957 to allow scientists to document the extent of missile roll during flight.
The camera carries a 186º ultra-wide angle lens (designed by RA Dixon), but the lens has been restricted to a 2mm wide slit. The film was moved at a set speed and thus generated a continual negative that always showed the horizon in the image. The negative also included registration marks and timing signals. This allowed Australian and British weapons engineers to accurately assess the onset as well as extent of missile roll during the flight.

This is a photograph from the finish of the 6th annual Kinnegad 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2015 which was held in the town of Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 8th July 2015 at 20:00. This race has firmly estbalished itself on the local race calender and yet again the race got wonderful support from local clubs and runners. The race is flat and fast and takes runners on traffic free route which includes 3KM on the local road 'Boreen Bradach'. The finish is on the famous main street of Kinnegad in front of Harry's Hotel. Over 200 people took part and the results by Premier Timing Systems are available here [www.premiertimingsystems.ie/]. The race is organised by Coralstown Kinnegad GAA Club with proceeds from the race going towards the development of the club.

Good thing I grilled early, because a little thunderstorm popped up out of nowhere, and it poured for a little while. Big fat drops of rain.. And as much as my attitude has changed about grilling, doing it in the rain still sucks!
My next house will have an outdoor kitchen that's rain-proof, and it'll be a whole new ball game. I want a lanai that's wide enough to stay dry under even in a driving rainstorm, because I do love to watch it rain - I just don't want to get wet while I watch. Or killed by lightning..
Unbeknownst to us, we timed our arrival in the village of Lourmarin to coincide with their weekly market day. Under the gracious shade of plane trees and umbrellas, a plethora of treasures both edible and non, could be purchased. I could already feel the tingling sensation in my thigh as the wallet in my pants pocket began to quiver in anticipated delight.
Not really trying to hide my face unless you count the new beard. I hadn't used the self timer on my 1953 Zeiss Ikon Contax IIIa for donkey ages. So to pay me back for the lack of use it decided to play a trick on me. With my camera propped up on the table by my leather gloves I set the self timer and pushed the shutter.
First some loud whining and then nothing, I then moved my hand towards the camera, the move elicited another short burst of whining followed by 10 seconds of silence before an even shorter burst of whining. This cycle went on for a couple of minutes until I decided to take a sip of my rapidly cooling cappuccino at which point the shutter fired.
Post discovery: After the timer had been worked a bit it started to work as new.

This is a photograph from the annual Ardagh Moydow Glen Community Games 5KM and 10 Mile road races, fun runs, walks and challenges which were held in the heritage village of Ardagh, Co. Longford, Ireland on Tuesday 27th December 2016 at 13:00. This year's race featured some changes from previous years: the introduction of chip timing, a new start and finish in the middle of the village at the community center and, a slightly amended route.

The 10 mile race takes in the local 'Ardagh Mountain' which is a 1 mile continuous climb starting at the 2.5 mile mark of the 10 mile race. The 5KM race takes a loop around the heritage village of Ardagh. Overall this is a very well organised race with accurate courses, good marshalling and traffic control and excellent after race refreshments. The 10 mile race is one of the longest road races held during the Christmas period anywhere in Ireland and has appeal to runners who want to add a longer distance race to their festive calendar of running.
The weather at this year's race was much more suitable to road racing. In 2014 there was very frosty icy weather and last year in 2015 participants were given a very very windy day with heavy rain at the finish of both races.
Ardagh is probably County Longford's most picturesque village with many historical and architecturally important features. It is located about 6 miles from Longford town.

We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.
This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting takes a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
