I had to break into my 365 project and upload one of my favorite shots of all time taken 27 years ago with an old Vivitar 35mm film camera and a Hanimex 80-200mm lens. The print image was scanned to digital years ago, so the resolution enlarged is very pixilated and Seurat like. Please forgive the imperfections.
The birds are ospreys, sometimes called sea hawks or fish eagles. Their wingspans can reach 6 feet (2 m). This decaying wharf is located near Point Lookout, a peninsula at the confluence of Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River in Maryland, USA. The image was shot just before sunset on a very hot and hazy day. There was only one osprey in the nest when its mate decided to join it. For a brief second I had the shot.
I’ve heard many times “timing is everything” in photography. - - - But it isn’t everything. We need luck, having a serendipitous event create the opportunity for a perfect image. We need passion, which gets photographers up at ungodly hours, makes us go unto nearly unbearable conditions for long stretches and keeps us at this craft day after day, all so that your finger is actually on the shutter button at the right time. And we need talent, i.e. the ability to artistically sense the kind of image we’re after, as well as to recognize an actual potentially captivating image and then talent to use our equipment properly to actually do the capture.
Lastly, can't ever forget the need for understanding and supportive families. My wife and three small children waited twenty minutes for me to capture this image, bless them.
On a side note, Point Lookout was a Federal prisoner of war camp holding Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War 150 years ago. I imagine (without any proof whatsoever) this wharf being the disembarking point for tens of thousands of souls whose fight using weapons was over, but whose battle to endure continued.
Forgive also the ramblings of an old man with some fond memories of this image.

Neurosurgeries are one of the best, clean, medical procedures. I still remember this day, I was gonna assist my NCA resident and specialist. What you normally do as a medical intern is to hold up any instrument they ask, or just basically do any medical order.
I was getting fit my sterilized gloves when the specialist told me not to because he needed some pictures during the surgery, he had to send some shots on how he set firmly the tool inside the patient's intervertebral discs; I, of course, took the chance to photograph the exact moment on how he did it. I like to call it, the right timing of a surgery.

This is a photograph from the 5th annual Craughwell 10 Mile Road Race which took place in Craughwell Village, Co. Galway, Ireland on Sunday 23rd March 2014 at 13:00. The 'Craughwell 10' has grown quickly to become not just one of Connaught's best known and attended road races but one of Ireland's best road races. Rather uniquely for road races in Ireland today the Craughwell 10 Mile road race offers a fully traffic free route for participants. The fast primarily flat course brings participants on the network of rural country roads to the west of Craughwell village. This year's event attracted a record number of over 650 participants building on the 600+ finishers from last year's race (results available below).

The organisation team of Craughwell AC and a huge team of volunteers from the local community deserve great praise and congratulations on the excellent work that they put into making the Craughwell 10 such an outstanding success. A race of this size is a mammoth undertaking and it's flawless organisation is a tribute to the volunteer work behind the scenes.
Route Description
The race starts in Craughwell Village and then heads west on country roads. The route takes a right turn after 1KM and heads north towards Caheradine. The route then takes a left and heads west again towards the N18. After 4 miles the race takes another left (goo.gl/maps/khTi4) heading south. Just before 6 miles another left turn brings the race back towards Craughwell village. This leaves the runners with a straight run to the finish area from here and the finish in the Primary School. There was a stiff cold breeze at different parts of the course but for the most part there was good stretches of tail winds also. There were water stations at two points in the course.
The AAI County Galway 10 mile Road Race Championships took place in conjunction with the race today which ensured that there was great competition amongst Co. Galway based clubs at all categories.
The spread of refreshments after the race was incredible. Every taste was catered for. The organisers were thoughtful enough to include a wide range of gluten free goodies for participants after the race.

We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
Can I use these photographs directly from Flickr on my social media account(s)?
Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share to: email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us.
This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
How can I download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
How can I get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.
Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.
In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.
I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Bad timing.
I walked down to the lab for another blood test at lunchtime. I had gone about 200 metres when we had a sudden downpour. I sheltered under a big tree for five minutes till it eased off.
I had a blood test a few weeks ago - after I had been to the doctor complaining of being permanantly tired and it getting worse. It showed that I have a vitamin B12 deficiency and also raised CRP (C Reactive Protein) markers which means that I must have a mild infection or inflammation (but I have no other symptoms). My GP said I needed B12 and could have tablets or injections. She said, that at the level my B12 was at, they would work as well as each other. So I opted for tablets. Not just because I don't like injections, but because they don't involve a time consuming trip to the surgery. She advised a second blood test in a week or so to check the CRP - assuming that it would have returned to normal. So I had the second test today.
The B12 supplement tablets don't seem to be working so I have asked for injections.

Timing optical detector systeem 2013.
This is a new version of the optical detector. There is another line array used with 400 dpi. As a result, the detection resolution doubles. The used line array is TSL1401CL. There are some advantages in relation to the previous line array. The integration time is the same for all pixels. The light charges are transferred once at the start of the readout for all 128 pixels. This array is faster but now has only 1 output line. All 128 pixels must now be read out serially to the same pin, the foregoing could be read via 2 outputs. But this array is faster so the shortest integration time remains low. The ADC converters should now be faster. The new version with the ADC7885 now has a bandwidth of 30 MHz and a serial clock to 48 MHz. I now use 2 of these converters via serial time multiplexing.
The line array has 400 dpi versus 200 dpi of the TSL202R. The optical lenght pad is now only the half. The detector has double resolution in depth, a great feature for macro closeup. 1 pixel shift is now only 0.4mm depth at 500 mm distance. At closer settings this value is proportionally smaller.
Not easy, but nice job for the FPGA controller. The timing is show for an 40 MHz PLL clock but this may be higher if need to 64 Mhz or even 96 Mhz. The TSL1401CL is a very small SMD version. I will show later how to put him on the single layer PCB board.
An overview of the development:
This is a photograph from the 4th annual running of the Donadea 50K Ultramarathon which was held in Donadea Forest, Stapelstown, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 10:00 on February 15th 2014. The race was also an International Association of Ultrarunners Bronze Label Event and the Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI) National 50KM Championships. Over 160 participants took part in the event.
Don't forget to scroll down to see more information about the race and these photographs!
Timing, results, and event management was provided by RedTagTiming - results available at www.redtagtiming.com/

The event took place on a 5KM loop of Donadea Forest Park (read more below). The recent stormy and very wet conditions in Ireland made way for perfect running weather for the race. There was a slight breeze here and there on the route but for the most part the route was very sheltered. With so much running traffic on the course certain parts of the course became more muddy as time went on. However, this bother the participants who were expecting conditions to be much more difficult.
Congratulations to Anthony Lee of Donadea Running Club and Donadea Running Club for putting countless hours of voluntary effort into the staging of this event. The event has all the hallmarks of a professional event. There was a superb atmosphere around the loop as locals and other runners supported the runners.
Donadea Forest Park is situated in rural north Kildare and is approximately 640 acres in size. The amenities at the forest include good walking trails, a diversity of natural habitats, a walled stream, a large natural lake, and the ruins of Donadea castle. The Park is a designated National Heritage Area. The basic designation for wildlife is the Natural Heritage Area (NHA). This is an area considered important for the habitats present or which holds species of plants and animals whose habitat needs protection. It is a special event to allow the 50KM to be held in this environment.

Make me believe, and give me a taste of what this could be.
Make me believe and trust me, we'll be there soon.
I felt like experimenting. I need money, and a job. ASAP.
I tried to film the Winton Train a private but well publicised excursion which is running from Prague to London via Harwich Parkestone Quay at Chelmsford Station.
Sadly this train the 10:02 to Norwich was departing as the train hauled by LNER Peppercorn Class A1 60163 Tornado as it arrived southwards obscuring the view and that left many people this end of the platform bitterly disappointed.
The helicopter you can hear is following the train to London.
Tonight was one of those nights, while out house hunting, we had our camera gear with us, since we knew that sunset was not far in the future.
Little did we know, that a storm was also just on the horizon!
Just as the the last glow of the sunset was dimming, I heard what I thought was thunder.
I mentioned it, and we both then began to scan the sky....
Nothing
So we jumped in the car intending to go home,
but as we turned the first street, a anvil crawler burst out in front of us, steaking the sky!!!
That was it, we were now scurrying to find a good place to shoot from!
But where do you go when all there is is highway, shops, and ...oh what was that road?
A little road that went off towards an open area...
well relatively open....right beneath the electric power towers!
Sounded like just the right place to shoot lightening from to us!
Setting up quickly, just as we were about to start, a car heads our way...thinking how cool it would be to have car light trails in the forground to a possible lightening strike, I released the shutter, and what do you know...timing was everything, cuz just as the shutter was about to close, this lightening lit up the tower ahead of us!
It was brilliant!
Can't tell you how many times we both were looking up to the sky and watching the tower nearest us, just a few meters away...crossing our fingers.....

As we approached the port in Nawiliwili, we passed the Ninini Point Lighthouse at the entrance to the cove, warning ships of the rocks that guard it..
It just so happened that from where I was standing, on Deck 12, starboard, midships, at that exact time of day, at this exact moment, the sun passed directly behind the top of the lighthouse, making it look like the brightest lighthouse on the planet.. I saw it coming, and I couldn't resist..
I kinda can't help thinking now that it looks like someone detonated a thermonuclear device at the top of a tower, and guess actually, that's kinda what it is! It's nowhere near the tower, but it (the sun) *is* a kind of thermonuclear device..

She's clearly been working on this costume for a while, long before Marvel announced that Thor would be a lady for a while. (I'm still not sure if another Asgardian will wield the hammer for a while, or if Thor's getting a magical sex-change. Does it matter?) Sure, Marvel will say that they're trying to have more comics that appeal to girls, but isn't it just an excuse to draw Thor with big boobs for a few months? For a while, you can no longer ask Thor, "How's the hammer hanging?"
