I was meaning to capture the coordination (one boy catches the rope, then hands it back to a girl that gives it to the next person in line) but accidentally caught the only time someone actually swung all the way back to the start!

Merry and hurried Wednesday greetings collectors! I have been looking forward to today's editions for weeks; the timing of them is perfect, yet, I am quickly running out of time for this newsletter! As I write, the lovely host for this evening's Dot Dot Dot lecture, Liz Danzico, is patiently awaiting my very late slides that Youngna Park is hard at work on now. Youngna and I just got done mapping out the talk and I'm very excited!

Tonight's lecture, entitled The Curators, has me feeling very connected to the time in my life when I wasn't a curator at ALL. It was also a time when I thought of today's artist, Mike Monteiro, primarily as a designer not as an artist. Now, I'm pleased to feature four smart and sportive editions from Mike: Untitled (I told my therapist about you), Untitled (I'm an island of such great complexity), Untitled (Let's make better mistakes tomorrow), and Untitled (We are going to make it through this year if it kills us). They comprise our first 20x200 AAA since the holidays.

Mike and I met in San Francisco during the web 1.0 boom that subsequently busted in a manner that seems like child's play when compared to the Current Economic Climate (heretofore known as the "CEC"). We've stayed in touch over the course of a good number of years, thanks in large part to the wonders of the interwebs. We connected, in person, last year at SXSW, so heading there (bright and early tomorrow morning!) makes me think of Mike too. I was looking forward to seeing him THIS year because the last time around, he was mad at me; anyone who knows and loves Mike like I do knows that is an uncomfortable thing indeed. (Maybe if we sell lots of his prints he'll change his mind and come! Let's go people.)

Anyway, Mike's long headed up his design studio, Mule Design, but I was really excited when he started making art again and I LOVE his first edition with us. I have a print of it hanging right by my front door and it still makes me laugh. It's a print I've enjoyed sending, on occasion, to some of the most exasperating yet beloved people in my life.

What I love about these new prints is that they're so essentially Mike — they're heartfelt sentiments that are barely concealed beneath a layer of snarkery. Mike's humor is biting and occasionally downright obnoxious (forgive me for saying that Mike, but c'mon: ADMIT IT). As with a lot of humor of this nature though, it's an attempt to put some armor over someone who has the soul of an artist. It was really hard to choose which paintings to do editions with because there are SO MANY that I love. But, I'm really happy to be presenting these four because they're a good representation of the work overall and each one has its own special resonance, whether it's making plain something that's totally true but rarely said out loud, Untitled (I told my therapist about you); providing us with a mantra to help us face the CEC, Untitled (We are going to make it through this year if it kills us); reminiscent of a lyric that we love, Untitled (I'm an island of such great complexity); or offering some optimistic advice with words that, at first blush, seem sort of negative, Untitled (Let's make better mistakes tomorrow).

As I must prepare for tomorrow, not to mention for today's later events, I'll leave you with these words for thought. But not before I remind you about Greg Lindquist's opening for Brooklyn Industry tonight, at BAMart, which I will sadly miss since I'm so behind on preparing for the aforementioned Dot Dot Dot lecture. Jeffrey Teuton, Associate Director of the JB Gallery will be there to see Greg's gorgeous and monumental paintings in person. And you should too! I'll have news on a few more upcoming events, including our San Fran Collector's Confab, the gallery's six year anniversary (!), and a bonus edition, tomorrow! Till then!

The kit and its assembly:

I found the VG-33 fascinating - an obscure and sleek fighter with lots of potential that suffered mainly from bad timing. There are actually VG-33 kits from Azur and Pegasus, but how much more fun is it to create your own interpretation of the historic events, esp. as a submission to a Battle of Britain Group Build at whatifmodelers.com?

I had this project on the whif agenda for a long time, and kept my eyes open for potential models. One day I encountered Amodel's Su-1 and Su-3 kits and was stunned by this aircraft's overall similarity to the VG-33. When I found the real VG-38 description I decided to convert the Su-3 into this elusive French fighter!

The Su-3 was built mainly OOB, it is a nice kit with much detail, even though it needs some work as a short run offering. I kept the odd radiator installation of the Suchoj aircraft, but changed the landing gear from a P-40 style design (retracting backwards and rotating 90°) into a conservative, inward retracting system. I even found forked gear struts in the spares box, from a Fiat G.50. The covers come from a Hawker Hurricane, and the wells were cut out from this pattern, while the rest of the old wells was filled with putty.

Further mods include the cleaned cowling (the Su-3's fuselage-mounted machine guns had to go), while machine guns in the wings were added. The flaps were lowered, too, and the small cockpit canopy cut in two pieces in, for an opened position - a shame you can hardly see anything from the neat interior. Two large antenna masts complete the French style.

This is a photograph is one of a set of photographs from the Castlepollard 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2013 which was held in Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 14th August 2013 at 20:00. The race is hosted by North Westmeath Athletic Club. The race has grown in stature and popularity over the years and is now one of the most well attended road races in the midlands. The race offers prizes in all categories. Castlepollard 5KM Road Race attempts to support young runners and walkers by organising a range of underage races around the town square before the adult race at 20:00. Profits from the race go towards grassroots athletics in the region - North Westmeath Athletics, Schools Cross Country, and local community games. Due to the slightly late start and the fading light it was difficult to capture as many photographs as normal and we ended up with many blurs and mistakes. This photograph belongs to a larger set of photographs from the race event which are accessible at this link [http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157635070120285/]

Event Management and Race Timing were provided by PRECISION TIMING: See their website at [www.precisiontiming.net/result/racetimer] and their Facebook Page at [www.facebook.com/davidprecisiontiming?fref=ts]

The Castlepollard 5KM can be considered as the final major race in summer road racing in the midlands as with the fading light of the late summer comes less opportunities to hold races in the evening time. Castlepollard is a small town located in North County Westmeath amongst the lakes of Lough Lene and Lough Derravagh.

Overall Race Summary

Participants: There was about 470 participants which is a significant increase on previous years.

Weather: This was a warm humid night. There was little or no breeze which made for very favourable conditions for 5KM racing.

Course: The race begins near the Church and ino the town square and proceeds directly out the R395 towards Coole and Edgeworthstown. The first KM is flat and quick allowing the field to spread out. The race then enters the Tullynally Castle estate and proceeds up the tree-lined avenue. The gardens, like the castle are on a magnificent scale, taking in nearly 12 acres. This allows the race to make a big loop of the gardens with a quick downhill stretch followed by a sharp climb before the race rejoins it's outgoing path for the final 1.5KM of the race. The final 800M from the gate of the Castle grounds to the finish is as the first - fast and flat and allows for a great finish at the GAA grounds.

Location Map: See the links below: goo.gl/maps/J6HUl (Google Satellite Imagery)

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the GAA hall afterwards.

How can I get a full resolution copy of these photographs?

All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available offline, free, at no cost, at full image resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us. This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

In summary please remember - all we ask is for you to link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. Taking the photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc.

If you would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

“timing” (as captured, not photoshopped)

This is a photograph from the first running of the Clonard GAA 4 Mile Road Race, Fun Run and Walk which was held in the village of Clonard, Co. Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 at 19:30. This race was organised to faciliate the continued fund raising for the wonderful new GAA facilities at St. Finian's Park - the new home of Clonard GAA. The race itself was an outstanding success with over 400 participants including over 230 participants having chip timing. The new GAA facilities provided ample car parking and space for refreshments and mingling afterwards.

The four mile distance is something of a novelty these days on the road racing circuit and the large field shows that the distance holds an attraction for runners, joggers and walkers.

The race started and finished at the new GAA pitch and incredibly only 20 meters separated the start and finish line of the race. The route took the participants east bound on the R148 towards Enfield through the village of Clonard and onwards to take a right turn onto Keegan's boreen to cross the M4/M6. The route then took a right turn on the Clonard Edenderry road to return back to Clonard with another crossing of the M4/M6 motorway.

As this was the first running of the race the support from local athletes was very visible.

Credit must go to Clonard GAA and Clonard Community Council who provided excellent organisation on all aspects of the race including event management, parking and race stewarding with the Gardai. This race can be an example to every other club in Ireland in how a properly organised race can be run.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

My timing sheet for the 1Z29 07.25 Bolton- Swindon Lancashire Locomotive Society/T+N Railtours "The Swindon Ambassador 3" which shows that traveled to and from Manchester Victoria, although i can't remember, it also seems to show that the train never ran to time all day.

The tour was hauled through out by class 40 locomotive 40086 (D286) with a class 37/0 locomotive 37174 giving banking assistance up the Lickey incline.

The whole tour had a total Bolton-Bolton mileage of 481 behind 40086.

At this time there were only sixteen class 40's remaining in service, and 40086 made it to the end, all were switched off on the 22nd January 1985.

This moose wasn't cooperating at all! She was staring at me balefully while pooping!

Timing side of the same bike, it's got to be an earlier model as it has a twin-leading shoe drum brake rather than the later disk.

National Conference League - Premier Division

Leigh Miners Rangers 36 Egremont Rangers 24

Leigh Miners Rangers are one of the most respected amateur rugby league clubs in the country, with a proud history of producing talented players who go on to make a name for themselves in the professional game. It is not hard to see why because the the whole attitude around the Club is very impressive.

Today's game against the tough tackling visitors from Cumbria was a ding-dong, rip-roaring, end to end crackerjack of a game. A real credit to the league.

Miners took a 20-6 HT lead but Egremont came powering back in the 2nd Half to get within two points. From then on it was end to end action with Miners securing the victory after enduring a sustained period of Egremont pressure and numerous crunching tackles.

Twist Lane is a great venue. Situated just a 5-Iron away from the Leigh Sports Village the place was a hive of activity. Upon arrival the welcome given by the clubs officials was very impressive and made you feel at home right away. The Club produces a very good programme of decent reading and and Award Wining Website all put together by the very professional and very likeable Jeff who like many at this level gives up his time for the club for love, not money. He does a brillaint job.

A special mention to Joint 1st team Managers Allan & Paul who are both fantastic guys and could not be more welcoming. They showed impressive class.

As Chubby Checker used to sing "Let's do the Twist again ...like we did this Summer .." and as a result of today's experience i certainly will be coming to Twist Lane sooner, rather than later, as it is simply superb in everyway.

Best RL day out this season by far.

On our way back from St. Charles, we made the last second decision to check out Spaulding; a typically routine operation for us on Wednesdays after school. Not being familiar with G35's eastbound run to Bensenville, I wasn't sure if anything would still be around. Sure enough, right when we pulled up, the train was rolling around the connector and onto the CP after finishing it's work in the CN yard.

Knowing we didn't have too much time to waste, we did our normal drive back to Wood Dale and set up at the depot waiting for it. At this point, I wasn't really sure if the EJ&E SD38s were still on the train or not, so the anxiety level was a bit high.

It wasn't until an outbound scoot left the depot that EJ&E 675 called out the Medinah signals and told the scoot that they'd wait a bit so that they wouldn't have to slow down at the Itasca depot. A few minutes later, the rails began to light up a mile away at the Itasca East signals and the orange duo began making their way into the Salt Creek "valley".

The sound of Leslie RS3L filling the air of Wood Dale isn't one that's heard too often, so it was nice to hear on this perfect night. Orange is always welcome.

Oh yea and, luck of for said conditions. and a camera....

I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I have the best timing. I believe this is a species of burdock, and you can find it just about everywhere up here. it's a pain in the neck, and the seeds stick to everything and make quite a nuisance, but if you sneak up on it at just the right time, the flowers are quite a sight. At least I think so. No picture can really do the deep violet color justice, but I've done my best. :)

Charged. This is the position it should be in when putting it back into the housing.

The posed portrait was nice, but this is just a gem.

timing is everything here.

Actually we do want to rock the boat. This thing is called a roll exciter. It rocks a boat model side to side, but not fore and aft.

Downtown Syracuse has some fantastic architecture! Good thing the rain from earlier in the day cleared up for a few hours, giving me a chance to capture these buildings against some gorgeous clouds...and a gull that just happened to photobomb my shot at the perfect moment.

As a friend pointed out on my Facebook page, there's also a clock in the shot. I meant the title to refer to the gull flying in, but that works, too!

This is a photograph from the first annual running of the Edenderry Athletic Club 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Ireland on Easter Monday, 28th March 2016 at 12:00. The race today also included the Offaly AAI Clubs 10 Mile Road Race championships which was open to any fully registered athlete who is a member of an athletics club in Co. Offaly. In total over 200 people took part in the event which drew a large contingent from Co. Offaly but also from clubs and locations around the midlands and leinster. The race was very well organised and started close to the Edenderry Tullamore Road at Kilfane Cross and proceeded to head North Eastwards towards the village and townland of Rhode, Co. Offaly before turning back (at around 4.5 miles) for the return to Edenderry and the finish. The race route crosses the Grand Canal at two points between 4.5 miles and 7 miles. Overall the windy conditions certainly did not help runners in the first five miles as this acted as a head wind. Otherwise the weather was cold, clear and bright. The return to Edenderry seen runners run the 1st mile in reverse and return to the finish line in Oakland's Community College in the center of the town. There were water stations at two points on the route and all major junctions and laneways were well stewarded. Traffic was also controlled on the roads to allow the race to proceed safely. The timing and event management was provided by PopupRaces.ie
