Ireland and our forty shades of green :-) The Claddagh river, still one of my favourite places to walk and soak up the sounds of nature.
This one's for Russ Barnes (www.russbarnes.co.uk)
I was lucky enough to be shooting with him a couple of weekends ago (on an excellent Greg Whitton workshop). We were climbing Moelwyn Mawr in Snowdonia, Wales, watching some incredible weather moving across the landscape. I'd started packing up my gear up at this point, eager to climb further but Russ (the wily fox) had seen this cloud developing and waited... and waited.. and waited just a bit more, until we got this shot. Respect, Russ - great lesson!
Y Garn is the hill in the middle distance, with the long ridge of Cadair Idris behind (about 20 miles away).
This is but a short drive from where I have moved to and it's truly lovely to have somewhere to go in winter to photograph wildlife. This pup was pretty close to the viewing path and had just fed.

And here is Roxy Music with their cool chilled classic: 'More Than This' (1982):

This is Iceland. An island with the wild North Atlantic Ocean to the south and the Norwegian Sea to the north. A place where you might sometimes think you're on a different planet. A country whose population is often dwarfed by the number of tourists who visit. Home to the friendliest people you'll ever meet. A small island with landscapes larger than life.
If you've never visited Iceland, drop everything and go now. Of all the countries I've visited around the world, Iceland is not only cool (and I'm not referring to the temperatures), but it ranks near the top of my most favourite places in the world. I've visited Iceland numerous times dating back well before it became a wildly popular destination. There were few hotel choices when I first visited. Today there are an abundance of hotels in the city centre of Rejkjavik.
Reyjavik alone is charming enough for you to know you've chosen the right travel destination. The city centre is relatively small and most definitely walkable. You'll find numerous bars, restaurants and shops and outdoor public spaces to sit back and watch Icelanders go by.
But it's the majestic landscape that will capture your heart and imagination. The mountains are glorious. The glaciers are enormous. There are plenty of tours that will take you to the top sights. Private guides will take you to places few others see. If you prefer to go on your own, rent a car.

… what you may recognize, but still think that there is something strange. Not as beautiful.
It is Bibi-Ka-Maqbara, a replica of Taj Mahal built in 1677-1678 in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India

This summer we had two young visitors from NZ, and one day I took them to Thonon-les-Bains for the day; to thank me they gave me this pretty ceramic heart they found in an antique shop.

Time slips through our fingers,
like water in a cracked glass.
We wait for the minutes to settle,
but they never do.
Yesterday is a shadow
in the corner of today,
a ghost that lingers
in the dimming light,
its whispers etched
on the diaries of memory.
And tomorrow is a tide,
pulling the present toward its shore,
never stopping, never still,
yet always just beyond reach—
a promise, a mirage,
woven from the threads of longing.
The clock hands march,
relentless as fate,
while we chase the echoes
of moments already lost,
and dream of those
not yet born.

This Purple Gallinule doesn't seem to mind hanging upside down some of the time.

The Skagerrak is a strait running between the Jutland peninsula of Denmark, the southeast coast of Norway and the west coast of Sweden, connecting the North Sea and the Kattegat sea area through the Danish Straits to the Baltic Sea.
The Skagerrak contains some of the busiest shipping routes in the world, with vessels from every corner of the globe. It also supports an intensive fishing industry. The ecosystem is strained and negatively affected by direct human activities. Oslo and Gothenburg are the only large cities in the Skagerrak region.
Will always have a part of me. ♥
