This is just by the Brooklyn bridge. In fact, the bridge is on the left side of the picture. And, the snow storm wasn't really that great.
...with fruit blossoms in every garden, and houses and farms in the mountainsides above the fjord. Note the farms high up there above the forest, when we're already up in the mountainside here (!)
I look forward to even more photos like this tomorow - in warm summer weather ツ

Rather than standard crops like wheat, beans, and barley, Pescado's farms offer more lavish produce. Fruits like mangos, papayas, pineapples, bananas, oranges are common in addition to nuts and olives. The goal for this part of the competition is to harvest 4 varieties of produce faster than the other competitors. But be wary, the delicious treats are a well guarded resource, you will need cunning and skill to avoid detection while gathering the samples. Show your character securing one of these objectives.
Although I am not altogether pleased with how this one turned out, I think that overall it looks pretty good.
For this weeks theme "'Film" I chose The Addams Family and made a portrait of Thing :-) I wanted to do a portrait of Wednesday and I found a model, but we couldn't find the time this week. I really enjoyed this weeks theme, so many nice pictures are submitted to the group this week.
I'm uploading when I can, but still don't have too much time to browse your streams right now. Please bear with me..., I'll get there soon enough and catch up.

Just like a shot of an ARR coal train I shared not too long ago this really hurts. While it looks cool as a thumbnail when I zoom in it's enough to make me want to retch. And sadly this can not ever be repeated. I was shooting with a lower quality lense back then that just couldn't figure out where to focus when shooting wide, It hurts....but at least I have the memories.
This is obviously a Pan Am Railways special with the two OCS FP9As and two heritage GP9s trailing two business cars enroute to the Glory Days of the Railroad Festival in White River Junction. PAR 1 and PAR 2 are ex Canadian National FP9s 6505 and 6516 built in 1954 and 1957 respectively by GMDD. They passed from CN to VIA Rail in 1978 before being picked up by the Conway Scenic in 1995 when they expanded into Crawford Notch. After 15 years spent hauling tourists in the White Mountains 6505 & 6516 would become PAR 1 & 2 when traded to Pan Am Railways in March 2010 for GP38 252 and GP35 216. The two trailing 'heritage units' are unfortunately now landlocked on the Heber Valley Railroad in Utah. Numbers 52 and 77 are very much on home rails here but wear schemes they never would have worn originally. Both are former Boston and Maine GP9s blt. Dec. and Jun. 1957 as numbers 1726 and 1738 respectively and delivered in McGinnis blue, white and black 'bluebird' paint.
They are northbound on the former Boston and Maine Railroad Conn River mainline (now the New England Central Railroad's Palmer Sub) at about MP 163.7. They are crossing one of the most famous structures on the route, the Sugar River High Bridge, which crosses its namesake river and Main St. / NH Route 103 on this 684 ft long and 130 ft high deck girder span dating from 1931.

This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image shows bright, colorful pockets of star formation blooming like roses in a spiral galaxy named NGC 972.
The orange-pink glow is created as hydrogen gas reacts to the intense light streaming outwards from nearby newborn stars; these bright patches can be seen here amid dark, tangled streams of cosmic dust.
Astronomers look for these telltale signs of star formation when they study galaxies throughout the cosmos, as star formation rates, locations, and histories offer critical clues about how these colossal collections of gas and dust have evolved over time. New generations of stars contribute to — and are also, in turn, influenced by — the broader forces and factors that mold galaxies throughout the universe, such as gravity, radiation, matter, and dark matter.
German-British astronomer William Herschel is credited with the discovery of NGC 972 in 1784. Astronomers have since measured its distance, finding it to be just under 70 million light-years away.

This was an eye-catching hot spring in Yellowstone National Park, which I think is called Emerald Pool. Various microorganisms that thrive in hot temperatures are responsible for the colors in and around the pool.

This bird seemed to have something in its bill and I couldn't figure it out until I saw it in my camera and saw that the bill was defective. Must be handling okay since it looks healthy to me.

Hello, dearest ones!! Well, no need to introduce again this divine piece of land of Holland, where the Floral Art of The Master Artist and the human Artists, perform blooming and landscape miracles…I hope, you become happy with these photos, like I am…
*** I just would wish to inform you now, that at least during the two(2) following days, I have to remain lying in bed on my back, because I have an annoying back-crisis….. Why?? Not, because I carried something heavy… But , because this last week I became….utterly Flickr-holic!!! Most of you know why…. Sitting during the ¾ of the day-hours in front of my computer , has been devastating for my back, which suffers since my 3d child was born…I have learnt to live with this problem, though, which – like my doctor says – it is a common problem of the ¾ inhabitants of our Planet, no matter their age and their extra kilos … As you know, I am a…crazy gardener!! But in the garden, I NEVER ever had any back problems!!! It seems that we are divinely protected , when we are Nature’s co-workers….But not, when we are computer-holics, even when we just ADORE watching Nature-captures, …especially during these cold, un-inspiring , Winter months..
** See you in two days, I hope… Hugs!
This is the third Brachymeria species, which I saw last weekend. This species was only discovered in Poland last year and it is amazing I am already seeing it in my part of the country.

This chunky bird is found in the Andes from Venezuela to Peru. It is olive above and white below with grayish flanks. The head is boldly striped with black and gray. Sexes similar. Pairs forage in the understory of montane forest, edges, and second growth, often on or very close to the ground. Typically occurs from around 1,500–3,000 m, but can locally range lower to about 500 m.

Larry has gotten up long before me and headed off to work.
When I open my eyes, there's Leo, just waiting for me to get up, so that I can open up the cat flap so he can go out and start his day.
If I lay there too long, he will start "talking", and lightly tapping me on the arm or face.
Erigeron annuus is a herbaceous plant with alternate, simple leaves, and green, sparsely hairy stems, which can grow to between 30 and 150 centimeters (about 1 to 5 feet) in height. Leaves are numerous and large relative to other species of Erigeron, with lower leaves, especially basal leaves, coarsely toothed or cleft, a characteristic readily distinguishing this species from most other Erigeron. Upper leaves are sometimes (not always) toothed, but may have a few coarse teeth towards the outer tips.
The flower heads are white with yellow centers, with rays that are white to pale lavender, borne spring through fall depending on the individual plant. Ray florets number 40-100.

This photo was taken on the evening of December 19, 1998 on the day that President Clinton was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives. For me, it has become a visual memory of one of those “where-were-you-when” moments in life.
I was on a business trip in Boulder, Colorado. It was a cold and blustery Saturday and I stayed in my hotel room all day and watched the proceedings on TV. That evening, directly after the vote, I went out for a short walk about town (camera in hand) and had a quiet dinner alone as I pondered the events of the day. This picture, of a statue on the Pearl Street Mall near the Boulder Court House, was the first photo that I shot that evening. Don’t read too much into it. It’s just a photo of a place, a time, and a memory.
