I took this at Hogganfield Loch in September this year. It was in a planter.

This was a grain storage facility for Budweiser back in the day. I caught it just as a storm was moving in, and loved the silhouette. I also really liked the reflection of sunlight in the windows.

This ole house once knew his children

This ole house once knew a wife

This ole house was home and comfort

As we fought the storms of life

This old house once rang with laughter

This old house heard many shouts

Now she trembles in the darkness

When the lightnin' walks about

(Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer)

(Ain't a-gonna need this house no more)

Ain't got time to fix the shingles

Ain't a-got time to fix the floor

Ain't got time to oil the hinges

Nor to mend no windowpane

Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer

She's a-gettin' ready to meet the saints

This ole house is gettin' shaky

This ole house is gettin' old

This ole house lets in the rain

This ole house lets in the cold

On my knees I'm gettin' chilly

But I feel no fear nor pain

'Cause I see an angel peekin'

Through the broken windowpane

(Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer)

(Ain't a-gonna need this house no more)

Ain't got time to fix the shingles

Ain't a-got time to fix the floor

Ain't got time to oil the hinges

Nor to mend no windowpane

Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer

She's a-gettin' ready to meet the saints

This ole house is afraid of thunder

This ole house is afraid of storms

This ole house just groans and trembles

When the night wind flings out its arms

This ole house is gettin' feeble

This old house is needin' paint

Just like me it's tuckered out

But I'm a-gettin' ready to meet the saints

(Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer)

(Ain't a-gonna need this house no more)

Ain't got time to fix the shingles

Ain't got time to fix the floor

Ain't got time to oil the hinges

Nor to mend no windowpane

Ain't a-gonna need this house no longer

This is a postcard for Beverley, who wanted one of Jamie, but as yet I haven't been able to find him. This was the sky that greeted me just after England had scored the last penalty against Columbia to qualify for the world Cup Quarter Finals. Sail away by Nick Cave seems appropriate for Beverley. She'd just love these beaches . The sunrise this morning was equally dramatic, too many opportunities, so little sleep .

Today I had the pleasure of meeting my friends piglets, they were just so gorgeous running around and playing together.I had a wonderful couple of hours giving mum a rub, lying in the muck and photographing them with a clear conscience.

This was shot on an August evening. A little warmth on this cold February morning.

What is in this wine?

The more I drink the more I wander off

into a stranger's eyes

I like the way that they reflect my thoughts

What is in this air?

it feels like feathery dust everywhere

and as I breathe it in

I breathe the masculine scent of his skin

And I feel homeless

Your comfortable caress

has triggered unfamiliar restlessness

you and I are we

I feel I've lost my individuality

You're watching me rebel

believing stories only hearts can tell

but when is it enough?

when do I call my feelings on their bluff

And I feel homeless

And I remember us now

but I forgot what we felt like

somewhere along the way

And I feel homeless

And I remember us now

but I forgot what we felt like

And I remember us now

but I forgot what we felt like

And I remember us now

but I forgot what we felt like

somewhere along the way

You're watching me rebel

believing stories only hearts can tell

but when is it enough?

when do I call my feelings on their bluff

Three Alaska railroad GP's prepare to load out the rest of the ARMS barge on a typical Whittier day. Cold, wet, and foggy pretty much sums up this all season port with the original military era housing standing in the background. One of the neat things about the Whittier switch stands is that they all are some how lit at the same time in this shot and no its not photoshopped. After loading is complete these three Gp's will depart under the cover of darkness for Anchorage.

This was before dinner on Christmas day.

"This Old Barn" is an antique store located on Old Mission Peninsula. We've have stopped in there every time we visited the Traverse City area during the last fifty years. I swear that a lot of the inventory has been the same every time. : -)

Walt, the owner, says he is retiring to Florida, so the shop may not be there the next time we visit.

Captured this Great Grey owl not far from my gate on my way to go kayaking at sunrise (I recognized the owl from my winter shoot) It isn't camera shy at all but it doesn't like trucks so I get out and walk up. I'm glad I took images of all angles because I am just as crazy about a good background as I am of the subject. Not often I get both.

The combination of this Long Hoverfly and Pink-Sorrel brought to mind the plight of Marie Jules César Lélorgne de Savigny (1777-1851). An intrepid naturalist he was with Napoleon during the French Egyptian adventure; moreover, he was a fine descriptor of his finds. But then bad fortune struck; in the process of describing his specimens he slowly and painfully went blind. Regardless he soldiered on.

He described this Oxalis in 1797 before that great misfortune. It had been found by that great naturalist Philibert Commerçon (1727-1773) who was part of the scientific crew of Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729-1811), the first Frenchman to circumnavigate the globe (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/2408098566/in/photolis...).

Commerçon collected this Oxalis in the fields around Montevideo (called Monte-Bido in Savigny's description), today the capital of Uruguay.

From this former railroad bed, which was converted into the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail in the sixties, we can access a number of side trails that take us into deeper bush in the Ottawa south area, or between the many cultivated fields for a little open runaround, or connect to other trails on the system, or finally lead us into the Mer Bleue Bog area described in the previous photo.

I like everywhere we go because it's all so different, but here I get to play serious ball with Dad because it's safe to go all out, which is the only way for me to chase my ball!

Quick Edit for that lovely couple today :)

This was taken at the 28th Street Metro Cruise in Grand Rapids, last year.

Thanks for views, comments and favs :)

This is just a fraction of the number of King Penguins that were at this location. There are really no words to describe the feeling of being among thousands of penguins that show absolutely no fear of people. It was quite a humbling experience. Now I say that I should have taken more pictures but sometimes it was so overwhelming that you just had to look and take it all in. We were told that there were more than 250,000 penguins at some locations. This was the summer season in the Southern Ocean and they come here only to nest, then return north to warmer waters during the winter.

We were also told that the older penguins nest to the inside of the group and the first time nesters stay to the outside. This is because there is more risk of predators getting the chicks that are on the outside and the more experienced penguins know that. Taken at Gold Harbour, South Georgia on the cruise to Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctic Peninsula.

Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.

This interesting mushroom is growing on my lawn. At start the caps are white, and covered with scales. The gills beneath the cap are white, then pink, then turn black and secrete a black liquid filled with spores - hence the "ink cap" name.

This is from the apple orchard near my house. The owners have given me permission to wander in there and take photos. It's a dreamy experience.

Usually you can hear geese in the distance , however on this occasion these Canada geese came up behind me chattering quietly. I turned around quickly and managed to get a couple of shots , but as I was using my wide angle lens the geese were ' thrown ' further away than they actually were. As a sunset cloudscape image I quite liked their silhouettes as an added interest.

This barn swallow was taking a break after a busy morning of swallowing bugs above Lake Meyer.

This is me coming back. Never again will I allow someone to make me feel less. To tell me my face is to manly, my body doesn't look right, and my skin is not light enough....that I wear to many tattoos and piercings. My own insecurities are enough...never will another man add to them...Take me as I am, or keep walking. This is me finding me again.....this is me coming back.
