I think I've created a monster! Shantel hadn't shot in about 20 years until we hooked up and now it's like we're shooting 1-2 times a month. I'm not complaining at all - she gets better and more comfortable at each shoot. This shoot she started off wearing flannel and then tried on a fun coat that she fell in love with. We ended up in a chicken coop. Don't ask. We did this shoot in late November and it was definitely cold outside. The things we do for art!
Think of your camera's sensor (or film) as a projection screen. Direct a beam of light onto odd shaped transparent material such as plastic or glass so that the refracted pattern of light goes into your (lensless) camera.
Note - never aim a laser directly at the sensor!
On Wednesday mornings Sam and I watch 25 homeschoolers and help them with their lessons. It is so sweet to see Sam help the younger kids. She is so patient with them.
This is one of the little girls that is part of the program. She is one of my favorite kids. She is spunky and smart. She loves sports and loves life.

Macro photography – especially of wildlife and arthropods – is one of my favorite photography genres. It’s a quite challenging tasks to capture an insect or a spider at its best angle, while it’s moving, and with depth of field that is less than a few millimeters. But the wonderful thing with this type of photography is that you can share with others things they previously would not have been able to see with their own eyes. And that's where the excitement comes for me!
Since I haven’t posted a macro photo for quite some time, here is one example of what I enjoy shooting during my spare time.
For the record, this is Nezara viridula (Linnaeus, 1758) during its 5th instar, i.e. one development stage before adulthood. It is a highly polyphagous herbivore, able to feed on plants from over 30 families, and has a preference for legumes and fruiting plants.
I took the shot with Nikon D750 and Venus (Laowa) 60mm f/2.8 2:1 Ultra-Macro @ f/11, 1/200s, ISO 100.
Let me know what you think!
I couldn't think of what photo to upload so I just decided to copy the 1 who tagged me. (Plus it's been a long time since I've done a mosaic. ;oP) Thanks Lette. I'll pay you back somehow. ;oP

Don't think the book title sums up the book, even thought the Chinese girl in the story comes to England for a year to learn English and falls in love with an older man. She writes down all the new words she learns in a note book and you get one of these at the beginning of each short chapter.

The National Wallace Monument on Abbey Craig above the Carse of Stirling in Scotland was erected in memory of Scotland's greatest hero, Sir William Wallace, who, in 1297 at the Battle of Stirling Bridge defeated the English army and "sent them homewards to think again".
Where: Corner of West 31th Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan, New York, USA.
When: This afternoon.
What: A man takes a little nap on the sidewalk.
My son has dropped his cat, Ciri, around for the night as his landlord is replacing the carpet prior to selling the property. So it could be that he will be house hunting sometime soon. But Ciri will miss him I think. She's not going outside in case she strays, I'm not used to cat sitting!:))
Maybe, she thinks, maybe she'll swim with her head this time. Focus on the start, the turns, the way the water moves around her. Maybe she'll try it.
But then she realizes that, no, her head will not help. Only her heart will get her there and back. She will listen to her muscles, listen to them scream and recoil and burn, but her heart will tell her not to stop. Not to look back. She will do it.
Nothing can save her now. Her coach can whisper, "One breath down, one back," or "Go out fast. They won't be able to catch up," and she can hear but won't listen. Not even those three miles she did daily, those countless hours in the pool and time spent alone with only her thoughts.
Only her heart will help her, push her. She presses on her goggles hard, makes them dig into her eyes. Pulls down on her cap. Jumps around to get loose.
"Championship heat, step up. Take your mark... Beep!"
She leaves it all in the pool. Trusts herself and no one else. Hits the wall and looks up at the time,
smiling.

The Avro Lancaster is the most famous and successful RAF heavy bomber of World War Two. It is a legend that lives on today and the contribution made by the aircraft and its crews to the freedom of our nation will, hopefully, never be forgotten. The prototype Lancaster took to the air for its first flight from Woodford, Manchester, on 9th January 1941; the first production Lancaster flew later that year on 31st October. The first RAF unit to receive the new aircraft for operations (on Christmas Eve 1941) was No 44 Squadron at Waddington, quickly followed by 97 Squadron at Woodhall Spa. The performance of the Lancaster was simply outstanding. It could carry a maximum bomb load of 22,000 lb, its maximum level speed with a full load at 15,000 feet was 275 mph and it could cruise routinely at altitudes above 20,000ft at a range speed of 200 mph. With a full bomb load the aircraft had a range in excess of 1,500 miles. The Lancaster’s performance, its ruggedness, reliability and to many its sheer charisma, endeared it to its crews who were proud to fly this famous thoroughbred.
An impressive total of 7,377 Lancasters were built between 1941 and early 1946. Of these, some 3,500 were lost on operations and another 200 or so were destroyed or written off in crashes. The vast majority of those Lancasters that did survive the war were simply scrapped when their services were no longer required, as the reverence in which the aircraft is now held had yet to develop to the point where their preservation seemed important.
The Lancaster did not carry the weight of the night bombing offensive against Nazi Germany on its own but was supported by other earlier twin-engine bombers such as the Wellington and the other four-engine RAF heavy bombers – the Stirling and the Halifax – as well as medium bomber versions of the twin-engine De Havilland Mosquito. In total some 125,000 aircrew served in Bomber Command during World War Two; over 73,700 of them became casualties, either killed, wounded or shot down and made PoWs.
In a letter to the head of Avro after the war, Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Arthur Harris, the Commander in Chief of Bomber Command, said of the Lancaster:
“I would say this to those who placed that shining sword in our hands: Without your genius and efforts we could not have prevailed, for I believe that the Lancaster was the greatest single factor in winning the war.”

Think I do need a long vacation or sth.. to temporarily escape everything in real life. #meaningOfLife?
I think it's clear that Linus isn't fond of the neighbour's dogs. They are noisy and they don't leave any doubt that they hate cats. For some reason all four of them tend to ignore Cleo completely whereas they bark and growl and behave like crazy whenever they see one of the boy cats. Linus prefers to stay at a safe distance, always near the cat flap which allows him to disappear in the house in case one the dogs should one day manage to climb over the fence.

I think all of us who love K-pop can relate to this movie...
Fantasy or not, the truth is that my soul was trapped in the demon of K-pop, and what a beautiful way this movie conveys that...
I recommend it...
But I'm taking this opportunity to say goodbye to the K-pop community in SL. For personal reasons, I'm hanging up my gloves, as they say in the daily struggle of life...
Just like in real life, things happen in SL that sometimes force you to make these decisions, and I feel I need to take a step back...
And returning to my principles as a model, dressing my Virtual Barbie has always been my priority...
To everyone who respected me and accepted my friendship in the K-pop world, THANK YOU.
I still love Korean culture, I still respect it, I like K-pop, and I always will... And my avatar will maintain that vibe for now... but I don't rule out a big change soon!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything I've learned. I'll keep that!

I've just founded a new group www.flickr.com/groups/think-extract where I will discuss daily all the hidden, sublime messages, we are able to discover in photographies - if we think - and make the effort, to use language and describe elaborated; I would be glad, if you would have the interest to join, discussing, reading ...
so i think my pictures have become stagnant and that's why there's less interest in them. heck i'm not even interested in them. i always want to improve and get better, but i don't think that's been happening. so, i was wondering if you guys could maybe give me some tips on how to improve? maybe things you do yourself or ideas you might have for me. i'm just so bored of my pictures and i feel like nobody else likes them anymore either, haha. i actually dread posting things on flickr and that's not good! i truly appreciate the support i receive here, but flickr makes me feel so dismayed about my pictures. so i think i just need to find a new direction. i still really like taking pictures and i want to be inspired again!
thanks. :]
I think this is (was) a 360 Spyder although I am sure enthusiasts will either put me right or agree. There was no engine in this example and it sits on very non-standard wheels.

I think we were on our way back from Kazaringa National Park when we chose to travel on the 0630hrs from Silghat Town to Chaparmukh Junction. The Northeast Frontier Railway line was metre gauge and motive power provided by German built YF class locomotives, such as 0-6-2 YF 30390 (Krupp 1120/1931), seen here at Puranigudam on 28 January 1979.
My understanding is that at some stage the line was abandoned for several years, but has since been rebuilt and reactivated as broad gauge.

I think some of the fondest memories that come to mind about being in Southern California was my first week here. The realization that Disneyland was practically in my backyard, and the new photographic possibilities seemed endless. I’ll never forget this night… January 7th, 2016 around 1am. It was a full-on onslaught of heavy rain, wind, and even hail at one point. Not exactly the picturesque SoCal weather we all rave about. The park was practically a ghost town, save for myself my buddy Caleb and few other brave photographers and security. I’ve never had another night like this one since.

I think I stopped the car for this one, the light was so pretty.
We're on the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range here.
These mountains extend in a line down eastern Australia, from Cape York at the top, all the way down and under the sea through Bass Strait and into Tassie.
Part of the range has always reminded me of the view I saw in Japan, they called the Sleeping Buddha.
Funny what sticks in your mind..

See if you can pick it.
Camped overnight with a couple of friends at the top 20 years ago. Must've been crazy back then.
No tents, only sleeping bags, and boy was it windy.
Woke up a little too close to the edge in the morning.
Incredible view, took a great selfie. Will have to dig it out sometime..
Happy memories !
