Fly Agaric.
I always think that pictures of mushrooms come in the same category as those of kittens. They make me want to say ‘Awwww… poor ickle things. How sweet…’.
But that may be because I eat too many of them in my salads.
No! Mushrooms. I don’t usually eat kittens! {sigh - I do despair of my audience at times. I’m sure the feeling is mutual :) ).
This is another picture of this cute toadstool, taken in some Suffolk pine woods at West Stow last year but processed today for the Smile on Saturday theme Mushrooms. This one is in the early stage of emerging - gradually it will extend its cap during the day until it’s flat or even slightly convex.
Fly Agarics are so-called because they were used as an insecticide (sprinkled on milk!). They contain two types of hallucinogenic chemicals and are moderately poisonous.
There were several dozen of these in the woods, scattered about. Some were even obligingly sitting on their own little mounds :)
Hope you are all OK and having a lovely weekend.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image.
[Daylight with the camera hand propped on the ground.
Developed in Capture One reducing Clarity and increasing Structure; warming the image up a bit and emphasising the greens of the moss on the right.
Quite a lot of additional work in Nik Viveza: taking down the background and leaf litter; adding light to the top of the stem and evening out the tone and colour on the cap as well as enhancing the structure there.
More tonal and contrast work using filters in Color Efex, with a slight dark vignette centred on the mushwump.
16:9 crop to take out some annoying highlights at the top and some of the foreground, with the toadstool on the thirds line.]
We changed 3 countries in 4 months, and packed and unpacked our bags around 10 times during this time. And just before we leave for another short trip to Jordan this weekend, I thought it would be totally irresponsible of me not to share even one photo from recent trip to Ethiopia (before I get my hands on the load of captures we took!).
And Flickr friends, I promise to start visiting your streams very soon.
We're back in Lebanon now! Do come by to visit! :)
Thanks for your visit and have a great day!

Well, I think it’s time to begin with posting several images I made during my stay in Asturias (Spain) some weeks ago. I made this shot here at a very iconic beach called „Gueirua“ one rainy afternoon. A single long exposure shot which I found very difficult to make as I was cleaning the lenses all the time due to the rain! And more it was not so comfortable to stay balanced over the rocks and stones during a heavy wind and rain, cleaning all the time the lenses and at the same time trying not to fall into the sea with all my equipment :-) But it was so rewarding to be there and I could’t care less about the weather … I was so happy to finally, finally, finally to see the sea again after so much time as I have no sea in my country :-)

Halnaker Windmill near Chichester in Sussex, I really cannot remember what time of day we where there but I would say late afternoon by the looks of the light low on the horizon. I think there has been a lot of conservation work done on it since we were there so it`s time for a return visit when we can.
I think the mothers milk might have a drop to much wine in it:-) The one on the left=Half a bottle. The one on the right=Full bottle and the little one at the back found the vat.......... The Seals are born on a Royal Air Force training ground used for bombing practice so you would think sleep would be hard to come by.
Well for one young seal this seems not to be the case.

I think I never get tired of those beautiful bog mornings. It ´s always so tranquilizing, refreshes my mind. I just wish I had more opportunities to be there. I hope someday I can offer photo tours for photographers who don't have that kind of nature available to them.
Walking through the magnificent botanical gardens of Singapore. Flora at its best. Think Green vs Live Grey...
Hi my friends! I was missing taking photos these days.
The cold weather doesn't help so much. I don't have a good car to travel safely in the snow routes and the cold weather is not good for the health of my daughter, so here I am at home.
So I think landscape photography it should wait a little and I should try other things, don't you think?
I hope everyone is having a good holidays season.
Here in Portland Oregon we are having some days with snow and that is not so regular. Crazy weather.
Stay cozy my friends Winter is here at this part of the world.
Attention Ladies & Gents (yes boyz you too)....
Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. It is considered a heterogeneous disease—differing by individual, age group, and even the kinds of cells within the tumors themselves. Obviously no woman wants to receive this diagnosis, but hearing the words “breast cancer” doesn’t always mean an end. It can be the beginning of learning how to fight, getting the facts, and finding hope.
Women in the United States get breast cancer more than any other type of cancer except for skin cancer. It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in women.
Each year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Approximately 1,700 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. The evaluation of men with breast masses is similar to that in women, including mammography.
If you'd like more infromation here are 2 great resources..I worked for the American Cancer Society and I provided services to women and men with breast cancer.♥
Was immer du tust, vergiss nicht, dass wir nur diese eine Welt zum Leben haben. Wenn wir sie schützen und mit Ehrfurcht behandeln, wird sie es uns danken.
We only have this one world to live in. Don't forget that. If we treat her well, she will thank us.
I think I know.
I do know!
These are the woods of Robert Frost, the ones that inspired his famous poem, "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening."
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
I really liked the way this tree seemed to be bending backwards and embracing it's brethren.

Sometimes, you might wonder if you can achieve your projects, you might think you will never make it, you might think you're not good enough to make it. Trust me, you are stronger than you think. If you really want it, you will make it, don't give up, trust yourself ! Like that little pony showing how strong she can be if a big drafty horse come towards her, she'll fight herself and show she's strong ! Never underestimate yourself.

I like to think that it is never too late to smile, discover, love family, love life. Despite how difficult it can be to live and the obstacles to overcome, life always finds a way, a solution and we realize that it is worth living. It is never too late for changes, if the earth has different costumes for each season of the year, then we too can change ...
