Affect
The two images were both taken from my room. The first image is a self portrait, and the second is the view from my window. They were clipped ontop of one another to create an overlayed affect. Overall, while it looks like a conceptual image, there was no intended purpose behind its creation.

I think I used my index finger a little too much.
I have to get that to turn a nice attractive hard crusty yellow, and get one on my other finger as well.
The Thinker
Auguste Rodin, 1903
Patinated plaster
The athletic nudity of The Thinker seems to allude to the ancient belief that a healthy mind should reside in a healthy body. The right elbow on the left thigh creates a torsion that, together with the forward-leaning pose, sets the figure in motion.

Part of Rodin and the Art of Ancient Greece (April to July 2018)
Bringing together sculpture by Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) and his inspiration, Pheidias (c. 490–430 BC).
I spent today walking in the hills in which I first discovered mountain biking.
For one reason or another, my sister lives in one of the villages where we used to stop for tea and a bacon butty, mid-ride.
I don't generally like to spend time alone but there's much to think about at the moment, so it was nice to get out into the countryside and have the space to do so.
As I left there were low clouds threatening rain, but the sun emerged as I got to the top of Lose Hill, and it was sunburn, rather than a drenching that I risked on the walk home.
I still don't know what I'm doing in my life, but some days I get to walk up majestic hills. And that's something.

Cleveland Museum of Art's Thinker was blown up by an anarchist in the 1970 with a pipe bomb. The damage to this cast has altered the art in a significant way and I think makes it relevant. My favorite piece at the museum. Riding from Virginia to Ohio via US 250 from July 8-15 2011 taken on my mobile phone. (Photos by Pat Jarrett)
