Couldn't think of an adequate story to go with this image. I'm drawn back to what it means to me looking at it. All I could think about was this song. It reminds me of my older brother I guess. Perhaps because I sat alone when photographing this scene, watching the darkness envelope these beautiful mountains and wished I wasn't. It brought back memories of many a late night spent with my older brother when we were teens. I took great comfort and trust in our conversations, his advice and opinion. We talked about everything under the sun and I remember many times sitting together and watching the stars rise high in the skies like a million tiny lanterns. It was my brother who also showed me this song before he left for boot camp. Since then we've both grown up and moved to different states but I think of those nights often when I'm up late.
Here's to
starry skies and memories of long nights... to loved ones who were willing to sit with us in both the cover of darkness and in the beauty of light.

This is a Tea Plantation in Tanah Rata, Malaysia. It wasn't the perfect day to visit it but in the end the clouds gave a nice dramatic sky for this picture.
I do not think I have ever paid attention to the fact that turtles have nostrils before I took some close-up images of turtles sunbathing near a pond at the San Diego State University campus. 😂

The dry mix of Douglas fir, arbutus, and Garry oak ecosystem makes for good white fawn lily habitat. These flowers prefer dry open forests and meadows and they are plentiful on the more open west side of the Vancouver Island. Hello friends,
Something new from me. I was hesitant about posting this as this my first attempt at this type of photography and edit. But when I saw the back of my camera after taking it I knew I had to try. I should get better at these types of pictures since I never seem to sleep at night anyway. First time for everything!
I was listening to Stairway to Heaven when I started the process of posting this and had it titled as such. But the more I thought about it the more cliche it sounded. It does remind me of something similar to that though. Perhaps some of you will catch the reference to the title :) Even though it is imperfect in a million times I think the only way to see growth is by posting pictures along the way. It's astonishing to look back and see how we grow. I do that often with people here I follow. Some of you have been with me since the very beginning in my very humble efforts. Flickr will always be my first love when it comes to community. I have never experienced the same type of encouragement anywhere else that I experience here. Thank you for being with me on this journey, for growing with me and never failing to inspire me.

I saw her a few months ago and she looked very unwell, with sore patches on her tummy and chest. Today her chest looked a lot better, but I couldn't see her tummy. She seems to live around where she's lying, but I'm not sure if she's looked after very well. I'd take her home, if I had the space, poor darling.

I think this may be Melastiza scotica, the less common variation of the Orange Peel fungus. It is less brightly coloured, has inconspicuous hairs on the cap and is more usual in Scotland. It is also growing in coniferous woodland which is its normal habitat.
I used to think that for a good capture I need a modern camera with large sensor, sticky autofocus, tons of cutting-edge features...
Since I started to use vintage film cameras something changed in me. The more I dive into photography, the more clearly I feel that the photography is about moments and light, not technologies...
change your attitude to the World around you, things, events, people, to yourself after all... And the World will shine with new colors, will open up in a new light...
This is a quick wall we did together with Reb and Sterling a cloudy morning somewhere in Brixton..I really enjoyed adding some colour on this one after a long time doing monochrome pieces!

I think in every human culture parents, especially mothers, are highly respected and loved. In my flock, among lovebirds, mother Tauno is no execption. She is definitely respected and loved, also by me :), and she is never left alone. There are always either her spouse Lorenzo, or two other younger males, Meri or Pyry, with her. I don't know, if she remembers, who her youngsters are, but from the four of them, Tiuku has very warm relationship with his mother. Tauno is the oldest lovebird in my flock, the undisputed queen of it. I don't know her exact age, but it is somewhere between 10...13 years.

When we think of beauty in nature, we immediately think of things that dazzle the senses, a mountain, the expanse of the sea, the beauty of a flower. It is merely the perception of these things which gives us pleasure, and this emotional or effective response on our part seems to be crucial to our experience of beauty.
The beauty of nature can have a profound effect upon our senses, those gateways from the outer world to inside us. Whether it results in disbelief in its very existence or feelings such as awe, wonder, or amazement.
But what is it about nature and the entities that make it up that cause us, oftentimes unwillingly, to feel or declare that they are beautiful?

I don't think I've ever seen a Eurasian jay just hanging out at the park. They are far too fast to be captured usually, but there you go. Nothing is as usual these days...
Just read about a very peculiar behaviour of the jay: "In order to keep its plumage free from parasites, it lies on top of anthills with spread wings and lets its feathers be sprayed with formic acid." (Wikipedia). Has someone ever seen this?
Oder sitzt bei euch zumindest mal ein Eichelhäher minutenlang am Futterhaus, wie dieser hier am Zaun?
