... I think lush knows to which fraction she belongs.
Yes, I stole this title from my favorite song at the moment, "Human" by The Killers, and yes, my first AvantGuard Lush is here!
Many things have been said about this doll, so I would like to keep it short ;) Here are my opinions on some of the topics:
- Yes, her make up is intense...
- No, she does not look like a man
- Her body DOES pose very well and it is NOT floppy at all (All you who complain... ever tried Obitsu?!)
- Her hair feels fabulous
- Her dress is a killer!
- Articulated toes are silly, yes!
- And yes, I want clothing sets for them... now. It's ridiculous that the first (limited) clothing set sells on ebay for 150$.
Okay, that was all I wanted to say ever since I got her ;)
Now, I will have to start looking for fairly priced clothing for 16" girls. I already realized this might not be an easy task, but some smaller pieces are on their way to me.
And yet more chatter- This is my first doll that was really "opened" by customs, meaning they opened the shipper, the bow inside the box and as far as I can tell, they even crumpled the paper that covered her all the way. I know this is not really a problem, but it feels strange to receive a NRFB doll and everything has been opened before :(

(groan) "There's no one out there. Just go to sleep."
"No really! I'm serious!"
"I think you SERIOUSLY ate too much of that red stuff and now you're trip'n."
"It wasn't bad you know."
"Yeah! I'm sure!"
"Listen .... Did you hear that?"
"Not listening ... (yawn) sleepy. Good night."
think i might need to play with this a little on photshop to see what effect it has and then maybe post it again - the face is a little dark and not sure if the crop is to tight - maybe the water spray is a little distracting too?

Tactical shooting requires agile and adaptive thinkers able to handle the challenges of full spectrum operations in an era of persistent conflict. To meet this requirement, TAPS delivers a comprehensive, systematic, progressive Train-the-Trainer shooting program focused on fundamental mastery and built for Law Enforcement officers, military personal, and qualified civilians. Designed for leaders and trainers, the TAPS course also applies to the patrol-level officer, basic level Soldiers, and civilian self & home defense minded shooters. The approach to instruction is through coaching and mentorship and both demonstrates and transfers a training method that is safe, effective, combat relevant, and encourages a continuous thought process that demands accountability. Training is conducted on the range and focuses on advanced refinement of the basic fundamentals of marksmanship as applied to the primary and secondary weapons systems. Utilizing a building block learning model, TAPS combines the pressures and dynamics of competitive shooting and tactical application. While course of instruction is on the firing range, the TAPS training approach also translates into training venues outside the range.
Course Outline:
The 2-day course offering provides the following training and instruction:
- Lecture on proper weapons handling and safety
- Refresh the fundamentals and grouping exercises
- Conduct a diagnostic course of fire
- Conduct a discussion on the importance of performing a focal shift during training and avoiding mundane drills that do not encourage a thought process
- Other topics covered and practiced are; grouping exercises with both primary and secondary weapon systems, target discrimination, use of barricades, movement, close quarter battle techniques, immediate action drills, ballistics 101, transitions, magazine changes
- Escalation of training and intensity will vary depending on number of students and their skill level though the core of the course will always remain the same
- This course is marksmanship intensive.

I like to think that my makeover has been a labor of love. All of my parts have been removed, cleaned of dust and rust, then painted and greased. My motor and axles have been rebuilt; and although “go” was important to the son, the mom thought stopping even more important, so my brakes were also rebuilt. Along this pleasurable but arduous journey, they have dealt with my “electrical issues” and gotten me a new seat, front and rear bumpers, a winch, shocks, tires, front glass, gas tank, and radiator. Most of my parts have come from wrecked trucks that Jim purchased at a “parts only” price. These four old trucks have served as organ donors in my re-birth process. Bondo, bed liner, and welding have patched and improved my rugged good looks. The dad restored my paint with Krylon spray paint, which is an off-the-shelf exact match for my original robin’s egg blue. Even now, the son carries a paint repair kit (sandpaper and Krylon paint) in the cab of the truck for quick body paint repairs.
After my reconstruction, my focus has changed from agriculture to four-wheeling in the deer woods and back woods of Arkansas. Every year in October, I leave my town home and return to the farm and stay throughout the entire deer season. I am delivered in style—on my very own trailer—and then I take over and haul eager deer hunters to the woods and into the cypress covered Saline River bottoms. My life as a deer woods pick-up has not been completely without stress, as I have found myself on fire in three feet of water, stuck in mud so badly that a very large John Deere tractor was needed to rescue me. (more to come)

Roney is one among 15.000 lost children still roaming the streets of São Paulo.
It is in deepest regret and sadness that I inform you of Roney's cold-blooded murder on the early morning hours of January 15th. May he find peace wherever his journey has taken him.......
IMPORTANT NOTE:
On June 27th. we also lost our beloved Claudiney.
While sitting on the shingle ridge near Hurst Castle I had nothing better to do at the time than create this stone-faced man-crab. This shot is 5 years old and could've been taken by a 5 year old but I have to get it out of my system ! Stayed in the garden today mainly in the greenhouse to be honest as there was a cold northerly wind . The next three weeks will be spent mainly indoors as the virus will peak at this time. I may be posting some very old pics soon in the days when flares and velvet loons were all the rage !
Hint: Think today's "interurban" transit system. You do NOT need to be exact to get the point. The bright section can be seen from a busy street thanks to its large windows. What you see in the photo is actually one of the newer buildings on the historic site, built in the 1980's.
I think Flickr needs a bigger description box on the upload page. Still figuring it how the website works lol.
Didn't spend the day doing much except dim sum in the afternoon with my parents and grandpa. Hope grandma's doing well. Haven't seen her in awhile, but it's always awkward seeing her. I never know what to do or say, but it's not like she'll remember. It scares me sometimes knowing that when she passes away, I may not cry or mourn. Can't really remember a time when she didn't have Alzheimer's. But I remember a time when we were on the way from leaving dim sum at Woodside and in the car, she'd ask me again and again about the book I'm reading. Or that time she flipped out at my grandpa when I said their nursing home felt like a hospital. I got a mini lecture on that by my cousin. Idk. I'll just take it as it is when the time comes.
Streamed a bit of the SoCal? Crossfit Regionals and it really makes me miss it. After a WOD it always makes me so capable. I mean you feel nice after going to the gym but this is like ecstasy compared to marijuana.. not like I would know. But a harder drug vs a softer drug naw mean. Starting my nutrition draft essay and hopefully it turns out well. Don't really have high hopes for it.

From: Catcher In My Eye :)
Taking a BIG Leap of Faith!
Moving from the boot heel of Italy to moving to North Texas was a BIG move!
How BIG you ask?
When you are an eight year old girl, that has lived in Italy your whole life and gone to school since you were three years old, had the same circle of friends, gone to the beach with family & friends every Summer, attended family get togethers with your Daddy's family as far back as you can remember, eaten Italian food and practiced Italian customs Because YOU ARE ITALIAN... and, THEN, last Winter, your Dad comes home and says, "Do you want to go live in America? Christmas with American cousins at Gram & Poppy's will be a FIRST! Never seen a real American Santa, just pictures!!!
Your Dad is transferred to America first, and has been AWAY more than at home.
There is a lot of waiting because it is JUST Mom. Mom said she might as well be a single parent.
Life here LOOKS different. Houses are different, food is different and the clothes & shoes that kids wear are different. Now, YOU are THAT "New Girl" and the girl that has not played American sports or even heard of Cheerleading!
(And what's with ZOMBIES???)
Teachers are still Teachers, but spelling words are different, as is the language you speak when you are out and about. Grammar is awkward, reading is kinda difficult but Science and PE and Music and Art are fun! Eating breakfast as well as lunch with your class is fun! (What happened to pasta & bread at home for lunch?) No Saturday school here, Whoopee!!!
Mom made time for Scout meetings! Friends that go to scouts, are crafty & fun!
You are happy to find that Americans swim too, but in pools. Does every house in the U.S. have a pool? (That's where the town's water went! Who would have thought there was water rationing?) As in Italy, the U.S. has swim clubs! That's ONE thing that is the same :)
It's nice to find that other Military kids have come from other far away places and you find that they had to wait months for their toys and furniture to come across on a ship, too!
Some kids are just like our family, and hardly ever get to see their Daddy either.
You took a BIG LEAP moving from Italy to America!
And after the first quarter of school, you realize that you DID it!
Your family found a new home and you speak English now every day at school and go to a new 3rd grade class and you DID make NEW friends! It is just like Mom said it would be!
YOU took a BIG Leap of Faith, Girl!
And YOU did it!
YOU did it!
Yea!
Whew!!!
A BIG shout- out to our G.daughter and her siblings!
Gram & Poppy are proud of you and love you all!
This is Rachel running down a hill at her brother's Cub Scout day camp!
Playing in the woods near a creek was ANOTHER First! And it was so much fun!

Week 41's theme is "Think BIG"
From: Catcher In My Eye :)
All professionals talk about strategy, but few really understand what it means, or how to apply it correctly. How to Think Strategically challenges biased thinking and allows readers to enjoy the rewards of sound strategy and strategic thinking.
In the business world, 'strategy' must rank as one of the most bandied-about terms whenever there's a discussion on how to grow a company, win a new client or beat the competition.
Unfortunately, it is also one of the least understood — with many conflicting takes among professionals and scholars on what strategy actually means. The casualty of all this confusion is the quality of strategy that is actioned — and the results that follow.
Those who have mastered strategic thinking repeatedly see disproportionately good outcomes from the resources at their disposal; the rest leave themselves vulnerable to serious errors of judgement which can lead them to addressing the wrong problem, or doing things in such a way that the costs far outweigh the benefits.
How to Think Strategically: your roadmap to innovation and results — a new Financial Times series book released this month by Pearson, the world's leading educational publisher — promises to do away with this “boardroom babble” once and for all by equipping professionals with a clear framework of “the strategy roundabout”, methods such as “lean testing” and tools that will enable the reader to develop a strategic mind-set and devise a winning business strategy time and again.
The 280-page handbook tackles both theory and practical applications, providing an easy-to-follow roadmap that takes readers through the whole process of strategic thinking and provides a powerful framework of theories, tools and tips illustrated with a wealth of real-world case studies.
By the close of the book, professionals of all levels will be able to formulate a robust, compelling strategic plan capable of handling any situation or objective — efficiently AND effectively.
Co-authors Davide Sola and Jerome Couturier, professors of strategy and management at ESCP Europe Business School, have assisted businesses large and small in sharpening their strategies in their capacity as strategy consultants for McKinsey, A. T. Kearney and 3H Partners, a company that advises multinationals and governments about entrepreneurial solutions.
They say that although everyone has an innate ability to strategise, and do so quickly, most fail to take strategic thinking beyond intuition and vague notions of 'goals', 'situation analyses' or to-do lists. While helpful, none of these alone constitutes a strategy.
Professor Sola said: “Many people in business, even at management level, are very confused about what strategy really means. They do not have a clear theory to follow. This leads to hit-and-miss results with as many bad, and costly, business decisions as good ones. “Strategy embraces goals, objectives, planning, resources and more, but it cannot be reduced to any one of them.
“How to Think Strategically is a step-by-step practical guide to getting to grips with, and embracing, strategy as an invaluable tool to achieving individual or company business goals.”
The book is divided into two sections:
Part one explores what strategy is, highlights the factors that lead to success and explains how to turn strategic thinking into strategy
Part two focuses on putting strategic thinking into practice with a step-by-step walkthrough on devising and implementing a business strategy, and how to identify and deal with any challenges that arise.
To accompany the title, and help bridge the gap between theory and implementation, a handy Strategic Plan Generator App is also available which allows the user to apply their new-found skills by crafting a strategic plan.
How To Think Strategically is, in all senses of the word, the defining guidebook to strategy and strategic thinking, clearing away confusion and in its place instilling a mental blueprint for success.
How To Think Strategically – Your Roadmap To Innovation and Results, by Davide Sola & Jerome Couturier (Pearson) is out now, priced £14.99, from Amazon and all good book shops
