The Empire State Building as seen from the High Line

I've had a loooooong day. I've not long got home (about 9pm) - it's been draining physically and emotionally so I'm just posting this one picture before I crash into my bed. I will comment tomorrow on all your wonderful photos.

The Sphere is a large metallic sculpture by German sculptor Fritz Koenig, currently displayed in Battery Park, that once stood in the middle of Austin Tobin Plaza, the area between the World Trade Center towers in Manhattan. After being recovered from the rubble of the Twin Towers after the September 11, 2001 attacks, its fate was initially uncertain and it was dismantled into its components. Although it remained structurally intact, it had been visibly damaged by debris from the airliners that were crashed into the buildings and the collapsing skyscrapers themselves.

Six months after the attacks, following a documentary film about the sculpture, it was relocated to Battery Park on a temporary basis—without any repairs—and formally rededicated with an eternal flame as a memorial to the victims of 9/11.

Taken from the roof of 230 Fifth, a fantastic bar with gorgeous views of the city. If you like this, check out the Hong Kong Skyline - Gotham City II and a strange perspective of Gotham City.

Feel free to add a note if you recognize any building/street.

I've been wanting to get back to this spot since 2008, here was my original photo from that year long before the WTC development. Still patiently waiting for 2WTC...

Taken at the end of May last year whilst in NYC.... when you could get £2 to the dollar....how times have changed!

Today was no pants subway ride day.

My brother first left on top of the South Tower in May 1996. This is looking north towards midtown Manhatten.

I took this photograph on my trip to New York City in May 1996 and It's one of my most treasured possessions. After the events here on September 11th 2001, I look back on my visit to the center as one of the most humbling experiences of my life.

A cold and sometimes drenching rain in no way dampened the spirits of dancers who came from all over New York City to express their passion for the expression of one's self through dance.

Read about the event from the official Dance Parade website!

Thanks for visiting and for your feedback, much appreciated enjoy each day.

Sometimes I stand at certain locations and just wait for interesting subjects to pass by. This man reminded me of an old school detective for some reason or a retired Inspector Gadget.

I was walking around New York after a long day of shopping... The sun was going down and the lights were lighting up the city that never sleeps...I love the buzz of this city and can't wait to go back there again! One of my favourite cities in the world!!!

Thanks a lot for all of your visits my friends!

The NYPL has frequently appeared in feature films, most often as backdrop or a brief meeting place for characters. It serves as the backdrop for a central plot development in the 2002 film Spider-Man and a major location in the 2004 apocalyptic science fiction film The Day After Tomorrow. It is also featured prominently in the 1984 film Ghostbusters. In the film, a librarian in the basement reported seeing a ghost, which became violent when approached. Other films in which the library appears include Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), You're a Big Boy Now (1966), Chapter Two (1979), Escape from New York (1981), The Time Machine (2002), and Regarding Henry (1991). In the 1978 film, The Wiz, Dorothy and Toto stumble across the Library and one of the Library Lions comes alive and joins them on their journey out of Oz.

I looked out of my window, still wearing my pajamas in my old Brooklyn apartment with good old steam heat keeping me comfortable, and this is what I saw.

When I took this photo...I don't even think I saw the Canadian Geese flying in it...

A boat stroll around Manhatan.

I love that people in New York still try to be fashionable.
