The Vessel at Hudson Yards finally reopened to the public at the end of October 2024 after three long years. I finally got a chance to visit this New York City gem for some night photography. At night, this landmark turns into something out of some futuristic, sometimes alien, science fiction dream.

These colors always remind me of that great classic GD Rock song: US Blues..

True heroes of NYC, H&L truck 118 on 9/11 last know pictures of the Ladder was passing the Brooklyn bridge anchorage, truck and squad were never seen again. Just mangled peices of the truck were found 38 days after digging. 🙏

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his fellow man.

Famous Washington St. with it's iconic view of the Manhattan Bridge, and if not for one of the unsung brilliant Mayor's of NYC D.Dinkins this Bridge would have been in the river.

But historic pov, streets called Washington St. for at the waters bank at streets end G.W made his retreat to Manhattan with his troops to keep fighting for another day. As a true leader he ferried on the last boat to Independence of a nation.

Between Herald and Greeley Squares...

Oculus and Freedom Tower hiding behind few tree's, yes there still few old tree's in the city...

Seen from the New Jersey side pier to Liberty & Ellis Islands

The only place I has ever been that even comes close to Times Square at night is nighttime on the Las Vegas Strip. The only thing New York City was missing was all of the aggressive guys trying to entice you to "adult entertainment." Didn't really miss that as it is annoying. Similar crowds...similar feel...street performers...definitely not what I am used to in Houston, Texas.

Historically haunted Hotel Chelsea, Built between 1883 and 1884, the hotel was designed in a style described variously as Queen Anne Revival and Victorian Gothic.

Many famous artist, musicians, politicians and criminals called this hotel home for some time adding to its mystique and intrigue.

One of the most New York moments I had was stepping out of my hotel and and screaming TAXI! A cab came to a screeching halt, and I hoped in. It was awesome!

City Island, who doesn't love a NY style slice.. ahh come on.

...would never pay the bills :)

I was in two minds with this photo, it was one I was going to post but keep private to friends and family but I decided to let it go public. What the hell! You all need to see how rubbish I really am!

It made me laugh for a number of reasons:

1. The strap of my Nikon so obviously in shot

2. I didn't even put the lens cap out of view

3. I'm grasping hold of my glass of red wine for fear that someone is going to walk past on the sidewalk (pavement) and grab it through the open window

4. The stupid look on my face

5. My hair looks orange in the light

6. I look pregnant (it's the floaty top and the angle, honest!)

I took this at a bar called 'Faces and Names' on West 54th Street where we enjoyed a drink before dinner at The London. I was SO excited! I think that's why all the wine went to my head :)

Almost coming to the end of my NY night shots. For this one I changed the angle to include the industrial feel of the Brooklyn Bridge for an alternative take on this iconic structure.

She stares down the street and sees New York's yellow cabs.

Hearst Tower consists of two sections, with a total of 46 stories. The six lowest stories form the Hearst Magazine Building (also known as the International Magazine Building), which was completed in 1928. Above it is the Hearst Tower addition, which was completed in 2006.

One of NYC oldest subway stations Chambers St Station, below NYC Municipal Bldg, renamed David Dinkins Municipal Bldg.

Brooklyn Bridge–City Hall and Chambers Street station was built for the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT), and was an express station on the city's first subway line. The station opened on October 27, 1904, as one of the original 28 stations of the New York City Subway

But the one thing missing, the crowds. Thank goodness for Sunday, freeparking, and no crowds.

Eat the green đź’š one's

This gigantic apple was so beautiful that I wanted to photograph it before I ate it!! It weighed in at 12 oz./340g.!!! And it tasted great too!!

I spent the day last Sunday trekking the streets of Manhattan looking for photo ops. Here is the first shot of the day of the iconic Flatiron building. It is not an easy building to photograph from street level.

Late twilight view of Manhattan from Top of the Rock, Rockefeller Center, New York City

I've had a loooooong day. I've not long got home (about 9pm) - it's been draining physically and emotionally so I'm just posting this one picture before I crash into my bed. I will comment tomorrow on all your wonderful photos.

The Sphere is a large metallic sculpture by German sculptor Fritz Koenig, currently displayed in Battery Park, that once stood in the middle of Austin Tobin Plaza, the area between the World Trade Center towers in Manhattan. After being recovered from the rubble of the Twin Towers after the September 11, 2001 attacks, its fate was initially uncertain and it was dismantled into its components. Although it remained structurally intact, it had been visibly damaged by debris from the airliners that were crashed into the buildings and the collapsing skyscrapers themselves.

Six months after the attacks, following a documentary film about the sculpture, it was relocated to Battery Park on a temporary basis—without any repairs—and formally rededicated with an eternal flame as a memorial to the victims of 9/11.

… Top of the Rock. Manhattan. NYC.

Taken from the roof of 230 Fifth, a fantastic bar with gorgeous views of the city. If you like this, check out the Hong Kong Skyline - Gotham City II and a strange perspective of Gotham City.

Feel free to add a note if you recognize any building/street.

See more New York.
