Kumbh Mela is the largest religious gathering in the world. Kumbh Mela is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage that occurs four times every twelve years and rotates among four locations of India: Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain, Nasik. During this Kumbh Mela, which is considered to be the most important Hindu spiritual gathering, thousands of sadhus and pilgrims come from all over India and abroad. The most important features of this Mela are furious and exotic Naga Sadhus covered in ash, matted hairs and are known as preserver of faith.
The Mythological Origin Of Kumbh Mela:
Kumbh Mela HaridwarKumbh's history is very old and originates from dates back to the time when Amrita Kalasha (pot of nectar of immortality) was recovered from Samudramanthan (the churning of the primordial sea). During this churning process, the Mandara Mountain was used as a churning rod, and Vasuki, the king of serpents, acted as the rope for churning. In this entire churning process, Dhanwantari, the divine healer, appeared with the "Kumbh" containing nectar in his palms, when the Kumbha (pot) containing the Amrita Kalasha appeared. After this a tense war between Devtas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons) ensued.
Kumbh Mela HaridwarFor twelve days and twelve nights (equivalent to twelve human years) the gods and demons fought in the sky for the possession of this pot of amrita. And it is said that during the battle, drops of amrita fell on to four places: Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nasik. To commemorate this holy event of the Amrita Kalasha Kumbh is celebrated at these four places.

A situation involving a man with a gun in the 1400 block of Third Street SW in City of Cullman occurred Monday afternoon.
The individual in question contacted the Cullman Police Department via telephone indicating that he had intentions to harm himself.
Cullman Police Department along with Cullman Fire Rescue, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office and Cullman Emergency Medical Services immediately responded to the location.
Due to uncertainty surrounding the ultimate intentions and state of mind of the subject, Third Avenue and adjacent streets were closed to all through traffic.
The nearby West Elementary School was notified; an evacuation of teachers, administrators and staff from the school ensued (led by Principal Jay Page). While this was the last day of the Christmas/New Year vacation period for students, a Teacher Word Day was in progress prior to the precautionary closure of the facility.
No students are believed to have been inside the school at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, the man in the residence on Third Avenue SW was confirmed to have a firearm in his possession, and that the threat of self-harm was real. Witnesses in the neighborhood indicated that they heard what they believed to be at least one gunshot from within the home.
After working to make the neighborhood and school safe, a security perimeter was established around the home. Then, Cullman Police Department negotiators – Shannon Cheatwood andAdam Clark – began a dialog with the man over the telephone. The goal was to have the individual surrender his weapon and come forward to peacefully seek assistance for his state of mind and ultimate well being.
After many tense moments, the man emerged from the residence with one hand up, and the other presumably on the weapon. With the assistance and instructions from law enforcement officers at the home, the man finally surrendered his weapon, raised both hands and took an appropriate posture on his knees. Cullman Police Department officers were then able to physically control the individual and escort him into a Cullman EMS ambulance that was called in from a safety staging area eastward along Third Avenue.
According to Assistant Police Craig Green, the patient was taken immediately to Cullman Regional Medical Center for evaluation and possible treatment. Chief Green pointed out in an interview with us, the situation was prayerfully resolved without injury to the subject or emergency responders. The man is unlikely to face criminal charges in the incident.
