I am using one of our bedrooms in the new house as a temporary home office until we finish out the basement.

We set out to observe Vancouver as it prepared for the 2010 Olympics. This is part of a photo journal of our observations. We focused on the newest installations in the city including: signage, pageantry and public/street art. Note: the Cygnus team were observers only, we were not involved in the Vancouver 2010 Wayfinding or signage program(s).

For the longest time I thought this guy was incredibly ridiculous looking. But then I realized he's not a repainted CrazyLegs ... he's a repainted BeachHead with CrazyLegs' noggin!
In fact, I think the torso colors are an improvement over the original BeachHead. The legs, however, are in dire need of some primer. Any suggestions for pant colors? I'm all ears!
37029 and 3-CIG (temporarily running as a 4-CIG unit with the addition of a standard mark 1 coach) are seen at North Weald prior to the start of the days service.

A shot from the west side of Marietta Ohio looking across the Muskingum River and the pontoon bridge built after the Putnam Street Bridge was swept off its piers during the March 1913 flood. Some of the piers and bridge decking can be seen across the river to the left.
This photo was taken from a group given to me by my mother.
This photo appears here temporarily, so that I can announce that I have replaced an earlier posting of this scene with this enlargeable version, at the original position in my photostream. To view the marked and annotated copy, go here:

Last day of streetcars on 505 Dundas due to shortage of streetcars. The route will be operated by buses starting 18 Feb. 2018. Officially, this change is temporary until the end of 2018. It will be interesting to see what actually happens!
Just shortly before sunrise at Delicate Arch, the first two people to arrive at the arch showed up and stood in just the right spot - on the little rise beyond the arch but framed by the arch. They're so cute and tiny...
Deep inside the silence
staring out upon the sea
the waves are washing over
half forgotten memory.
Deep within the moment
laughter floats upon the breeze
rising and falling dying down within me.
And i swear i never knew how it could be
and all this time all I had inside was what i
couldn't see
I swear I never knew
how it couldn't be
all the waves are
washing over all that hurts inside of me.
Beyond this beautiful horizon
lies a dream for you and i
this tranquil scene is
still unbroken by the
rumours in the sky
but there's a storm
closing in voices
crying on the wind
the serenade is growing
colder breaks my soul
that tries to sing
and there's so many many
thoughts
when I try to go to sleep
but with you I start to feel
a sort of temporary peace
there's a drift in and out.
Anathema - Temporary Peace
This bridge is a temporary pedestrian bridge, taking visitors between Oslo Central Station and the Opera building in Bjørvika, Oslo. The copper church spire in the distance belongs to the Oslo Cathedral.
View from the roof of the Opera building.
This mom goose made her wing available to as many of the kids who wanted in. I think you might be able to see the 2 that are under her wing here.
The door of the truck says "IRON", so I'd guess that the MTA's Elevated Iron Fabrication team is doing some work here on the elevated structure of the Jamaica Line (J and Z trains).
This section of the Jamaica Line between the Alabama Avenue and Cypress Hills stations was originally used by the old Lexington Avenue and Broadway Els, and is said to be the oldest elevated structure in the subway system. The part that runs between Alabama and Schenck Avenues opened in 1885, and the rest of it, including what you see above, opened in 1893.
According to Forgotten New York, a little diagonal beam found on the elevated structure here (mostly obscured from view above, but clearly visible here) is the last remnant of an old connection to the Atlantic Branch of the Long Island Rail Road that was in service from about 1898 to 1917, cutting through the block now occupied by the old Blue Ridge Farms processing plant.

Someone drew on my hand at a show the other night. I think it is supposed to be a flower.
Not terribly manly, but better than a handstamp.
