A shot from the west side of Marietta Ohio looking across the Muskingum River and the pontoon bridge built after the Putnam Street Bridge was swept off its piers during the March 1913 flood. Some of the piers and bridge decking can be seen across the river to the left.

MORE ABOUT "AMAZE"
of the Farmlab team have set about creating, "AMAZE." This experimental labyrinth is a zone of play, flexibility, and collaboration located in the heart of a renowned commerce district where passers-by are offered constant opportunities to consume, but far fewer to build and make.
Utilizing a palette of salvaged materials (steel rods, telephone wire, kimonos, etc.), and inspired by the assemblage work and recycling ethos of George Herms – himself a recent Farmlab artist-in-residence – Farmlab team members have since mid-July been working to transform the large, ground-floor lobby area of this former bank building.
AMAZE aims to explore the idea of collaborative endeavors as the result of individual acts. Rather than decide every move together, Herms and Farmlab build separately, in different sections of the venue. The end result is a loose framework that likely – or not – will fit together. Farmlab is a collective dedicated to the preservation and perpetuity of living things. More info @ www.farmlab.org
MORE ABOUT PHANTOM GALLERIES LA
Phantom Galleries LA is a Los Angeles County-based organization that transforms unoccupied storefronts and spaces into temporary art galleries. Exhibits are curated by local arts organizations, Los Angeles-based galleries, independent curators, and Los Angeles-based artists. The project gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work, while promoting the creative community to a broader audience and keeping the area looking vital and culturally exciting. The spaces are lit and on view 24 hours a day.
Phantom Galleries offers a special thank you to the City of Beverly Hills Economic Development Office for their continued support and assistance in launching the Beverly Hills Phantom Galleries LA program. When you clear the brush in an abandoned cemetery, it asks you if you'd like to stay. Hung around for a while, temporary resident in the land of the living dead. You've spent a few hours, why not a few years? But I've got kilometers to go before I sleep. This time of the year, Saunders Cemetery catches the last of the aching light, every desperate fading ray of it across the neighboring fields. Bright and golden, winding around like water down the drain. Dripping off the autumn leaves, pooling in letters carved centuries ago. Stone-faced history, come and call me, I answer every time. Now that I've adopted this one, it'll be hard to let it go. When you know that you might be the only one who cares, it's hard to walk away.

Deep inside the silence
staring out upon the sea
the waves are washing over
half forgotten memory.
Deep within the moment
laughter floats upon the breeze
rising and falling dying down within me.
And i swear i never knew how it could be
and all this time all I had inside was what i
couldn't see
I swear I never knew
how it couldn't be
all the waves are
washing over all that hurts inside of me.
Beyond this beautiful horizon
lies a dream for you and i
this tranquil scene is
still unbroken by the
rumours in the sky
but there's a storm
closing in voices
crying on the wind
the serenade is growing
colder breaks my soul
that tries to sing
and there's so many many
thoughts
when I try to go to sleep
but with you I start to feel
a sort of temporary peace
there's a drift in and out.

This mom goose made her wing available to as many of the kids who wanted in. I think you might be able to see the 2 that are under her wing here.
The door of the truck says "IRON", so I'd guess that the MTA's Elevated Iron Fabrication team is doing some work here on the elevated structure of the Jamaica Line (J and Z trains).
This section of the Jamaica Line between the Alabama Avenue and Cypress Hills stations was originally used by the old Lexington Avenue and Broadway Els, and is said to be the oldest elevated structure in the subway system. The part that runs between Alabama and Schenck Avenues opened in 1885, and the rest of it, including what you see above, opened in 1893.
According to Forgotten New York, a little diagonal beam found on the elevated structure here (mostly obscured from view above, but clearly visible here) is the last remnant of an old connection to the Atlantic Branch of the Long Island Rail Road that was in service from about 1898 to 1917, cutting through the block now occupied by the old Blue Ridge Farms processing plant.

Someone drew on my hand at a show the other night. I think it is supposed to be a flower.
Not terribly manly, but better than a handstamp.

Unfortunately, my plan to block the air vent from blowing on me at work was ineffective. Still, this is a funny picture of what my desk usually looks like.

I'm still working on my new pedalboard so I had to throw a makeshift rig together for last nights show.
The orange pedal is the Dr. Balls custom booster, my current fave.... dirty and nasty, perfect! The blue box is a Dr. Balls Klon Centaur clone, Fulltone OCD v1.4, Dr. Balls Aqua Puss clone. On top we have the Burriss Vib+ which powers the whole pedalboard as well as switches on and off the on board tremolo in the amp. Next to that is the Korg Pitchblack tuner.

Some of Holloway's 900 series TEs have been pinched recently as buses were needed to kick off the route 34 tender win at Potters Bar. As a result, some former First examples were plucked out of storage and sent to HT to make up the shortfall, being route bound to the 91, expected to be for around eight weeks. George and I had this one, TE1746, to Caledonian Road two Saturdays running, it evaded getting photographed last week but I managed a snap shot today, 6/12/14. This one spent it's first 5 years or so at Greenford, where it began life as First DN33606. Following the loss of route E1 and E3 many of this batch have been parked up pending being found new work, though this one did actually get some use at Greenford (and seemingly Hayes) during July and August.
