We do a production project at the mid-point of my 3-month workshop. It's kind of crazy-making, but it's a good thing to know/experience. Here is my stack of 10 books, ready to be cased in.

A key aspect in ensuring that all students achieve the best possible educational outcomes is for regular classroom teachers and special education teachers to collaborate. Based on our concern that this may not universally occur and to model this for our pre-service students, we brought together the student teachers in the Middle Level Teacher Education Program (MLTE) and in the Special Education Program (SPED) to see and experience collaboration in action.
The seminar was co-taught by Beth Parrent and Candice Rogers (special education teachers at Beaumont Middle School), Kera Ackerman (special education at UK), Dr. Margaret Rintamaa (Middle Level education at UK), the special education student teachers, and the Middle Level student teachers. Bringing these different groups together was a great success!

My setup for recording screencasts for my classes. Noting too fancy. I use my Zoom H4 as a microphone, and my walkman headphones for playback. Camtasia for recording and editing.

"Teaching in Ghana"
Volta, Ghana

Student Description: This photo was being taken of myself, as an Elementary Education student at DePaul, while I was teaching a young child in the public nursery school of Ve Deme how to visually identity letters in the alphabet. We spoke each letter aloud together, and he pointed to the letter that we identified. It was such a defining moment to see how smart these extremely young students are, and how incredibly eager they are to learn.
