After a complete day of the most disastrous weather, torrential rain and wind... there was suddenly a lull in the maelstrom and I grabbed kids, camera bag and car keys and headed for a small patch of light I could see in the distance...
"Where are we going?" said the boys in the back.... "I have no idea" I replied... chasing one tiny patch of bright sun in amidst the blackness. It was looking good over Dinosaur egg beach again, but I figured if I am only going to get two possible nights to shoot this week, they had better be from somewhere different! I had a vague Idea there were some tin mine ruins in Botallack, famously photographed with two mines one above one another on the side of the cliff, but when we pulled up at the top of the walkway, the sun was doing this, so I stopped in my tracks and just shot from where I was, trying to use the arch to frame the sun as it set.
There was no way I was starting to walk along cliff paths with wind that strong! no matter how good the picture was promising to be.
I was fortunate though, as about 3 seconds after shooting this, a group of revellers came along and all stood smoking in the archway and climbing all over it. I didn't care, I was happy... I had a shot I was pretty happy with.
It was a stunning sunset! I had had the camera out.... I was happy :)
Took this two evenings ago. The sun is now setting far to the south. In a couple of days, the days will slowly get longer and sunset will move to the north. By midsummer, the sun will once again shine into my north-facing home. Yay!!
Darquain oilfield is located in southwestern part of Iran. One of the best scene one can see in this harsh climate is the dawn/sunset.

I am not a sunset freak but sunsets in Sri Lanka are so surreal and adorable
