This storm over Logan County, Colorado was weakening very quickly, but still able to generate quite a bit of lightning.

Hi, All!!! Sorry for the lack of posts...internet here has been abysmal....possibly the storms they had last week and this past Sunday night. Factor in 2 daughters here, one with her dog (which i am not supposed to have here) and a friend and one with my beans, beautiful sunny days and ocean breezes....you could say i am a bit preoccupied with life at this moment. i will catch up.....eventually!! i miss being able to open this computer at will and see all your newest shots...not gonna lie....the iPhone is nice but i love the big pictures on the Mac!
Sunday evening i strolled to the bay for a look at the clouds. The family went to play mini golf, after putting Noah down for the night. Kiera and her friend were still in “recovery mode” from a night and wee small hours at Joe Pop’s, dancing and listening to a great band the night before (yes, imbibing too, but with the smarts to take a cab home!)
while they relaxed at the house i made a mad escape to sit and watch the sunset....fitting since i was up at 5:30 am to see it come up! I was so relaxed that i was totally unaware of what was happening directly over me, watching the sunset across the bay and the striking cloud formations. I could hear distant thunder, so i sat waiting for the lightning show. It was quite beautiful and there were 2 families there watching with me. as it began to intensify, they left...but i stayed, and watched nature unfolding her strength before my eyes, across the bay. I was so content there....when suddenly a low growl and rumble began above my head! i looked up and, yessir, there it was....it had spread out from further north and west and was approaching as a huge dark cloud over my head! i found out that i can indeed walk very fast...made it back to the house in time to see huge beautiful bolts of lightning overhead, and feel the wind picking up before big drops started to fall. I SO love the storms here! They sometimes only whisper in the distance and other times they rage with intensity. This one spit hail and blew gale force winds for a short time....but the lightning and thunder were spectacular. Poor Lileigh Grace and the dog were terrified....but i do love the show.
Hope you all have a wonderful and safe 4th! i have a little pyrotechnics planned and today will be buying my wisk and steel wool and a length of chain! Now i just hope it doesn’t rain!! I figure the police will be too busy hunting down the people that shoot the spectacular displays of fireworks from their multi million dollar beach front homes for the rest of the peons to watch!! (fireworks are illegal here....and i am amused that there are billboards in north Jersey advertising where you can get the biggest and best in fireworks in Pennsy, with a disclaimer in huge letters telling you they are illegal in NJ and transporting them into the state as well!! )
PS Noah and i caught the sunrise this morning....it was lovely. we had a bit of bonding time, so that his momma would not throw him in the ocean!! teething sucks!!
Taken from Albert Bridge, looking towards Chelsea Bridge. SOOC, using my compact camera. Slightly grainy, but I love the colours.
