Felt so lucky to get a sunset from the top of Snowdon and I'm hoping to do an overnighter soon and get a sunset and Sunrise , if I'm lucky with the weather that is .
Glad I carried a wee camera in the car, superb sunset reflected in the waters of Gladhouse reservoir.
The tree line on the horizon is the Lincolnshire coast, about 10 miles away. Usually difficult to see from here but on this particular evening conditions were obviously clear.

Lake Huron affords the most beautiful sunsets on this largely uninhabited beach. Except for whomever passed through earlier to build this beautiful structure.

Sunset over Nuwara Wewa, (which literally translates to "City Reservoir") (built around 200BC) Anuradhapura in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The Chitya (stupa/ pagoda) on the left is Ruwanveliseya and the one on the right (half restored) is Jetawanarama.
Ruwanveliseya was built by King Dutu Gamunu (161-137 BC) and was 300ft tall.
Jetawanarama was constructed by King Mahasen (276-303 CE) was about 400 ft tall. (this in fact was one of the largest Brick structures of the ancient world and was as tall as the 3rd great pyramid of Giza!!) A third Stupa (not in the picture) Abhyagiriya was constructed by King Walagamba in 103BC was over 320ft tall.
Ruwanveliseya was restored to its former glory in 1956 to celebrate the 2500th annivasary of the enlightenment of Buddha. The other 2 stupa are being restored under the UNESCO.
The ancient city of Anuradhapura is one of the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka.

Today the sunset was amazing treat for the eyes..after i reached home from office i went straight up to terrace to capture this. While driving back from office, i noticed clear blue sky with puffy white clouds which reminded me of some color display waiting to happen soon. Finally what a gift it was for the eyes.
On cloudy evenings, Australia's Red Centre is host to extraordinary deep orange sunsets.

I`ve just arrived back after a 9 day trip to the US visiting California,Arizona and New Mexico. This is my first offering from the trip and was taken shortly after sunset on what was possibly the nicest day of the 9! Looking along the Crystal Pier on Mission Beach towards the Xmas Tree which has been erected there. A stunning location and everything you would expect for a California sunset!
