Neighbors watching, boaters stopping, kids running up. At this point, with all the white strobes hidden in the engine flashing, it looks like the Back To The Future Hyper-Delorean about to short-circuit itself into the sky!

The Anthrocon 2019 furry convention was held July 4-7, 2019 in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Attendance was 9,358 and $45,852 was raised for PEARL Parrot Rescue.
Shot Anna over the weekend for the environmental portrait assignment. She photographs really well, and put up with me and my constant equipment failure, so I cant complain.
All my strobes strung togethor at last! Wewt! The speedlight is a sunpak 522 sitting on the most expensive light stand ever, a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod. The big studio strobes are a couple of Photogenic Flashmaster AA strobes (400ws each on these, currently turned to about 100WS). The speedlight was at 1/64th power. (wow) I'm going to be adding a Sunpak 522 to the setup next friday, and I've got real light stands on order. I'll probably grab some poverty wizards too.
You'll notice this is wired- the brown cord is going from my camera (Nikon d50) to a Weis Safe Sync, which has another HH outlet and a PC socket. The PC socket is going to the sunpack, and the HH outlet is going to the flashmaster. It is about 3pm on a VERY bright day outside, that is in full sunlight. I'm pretty impressed at how bright these are. o.o
Hopefully no-one minds that I just showing off kit here~. If anyone has ideas on how to improve this setup for free I am willing to listen!

A 580EXII on cam set to Stroboscopic mode, 1/64 power 4 bursts @ 4Hz.. 3 Vivitar 285HVs at cam top right, left and right at 1/16th power, radio trigger set on a optical slave trigger to set them in sync with the 580EXII..
After seeing some of Joey Lawrences shots I wanted to test out the fake blood in the basement. 2 strobes, 1 camera right lighting from the front and 1 strobe in the back camera left. A lot of fun. Ps. no one got hurt.
Notice how in each successive shot the distance between any two points is greater than the distance between the previous two points. I shouldn't be amazed, but sometimes seeing truly is believing.
I seem to have broken all my wine glasses, so I used what I had.
Strobist: Alien Bees B800 with 20 degree honeycomb facing straight up and wine glass sitting on top of honeycomb. Flash fires up through the glass. B400 with 10 degree honeycomb pointing at bottle label. Shot in my living room with the lights off.
Both flashes fired with Alien Bees Cybercync remote triggers. I had been wired in at first, but was unable to get the second flash to consistently fire as there was not enough spill from the flash to activate the optical trigger.

Had a Photoshop class with Tim Buerger today.
Worked on some of the photos I did in a previous strobe lesson in Minato Mirai, Yokohama. Now it feels like the lesson is complete... from the shooting to the post-production.
I was never a huge fan of flashes and non-natural light but I really like the results of this class... time to practice!

The power of the strobes does not give much information without the distance, does it?
Just what I needed to lift my mood...a new strobe and ir trigger!
Sunpak 422 D + Cactus receiver and "Yin Yan" budget strobe (cost me $11) + random chinese brand ir trigger (cost me $5). Total cost of this setup: $55. That's less than the price of one vivitar. Woohoo!!
note: my cactus's mounting bracket broke...so I did some engineering and now it's better than ever!
