Strobist: 2 lights, one in front of model camera right, one behind me camera right and up. Both fired through small umbrellas.
1 light back and camera left for fill
One strobe OC, one bare-bulb far CL pointing at bed. The original strobed shot had too much light spillage on the bed from the direct strobe, so I masked out some of those areas. Also masked in an ambient exposure to bring some some natural light to areas that were too dark.
Although I like blending ambient in with strobes, it's just too much work. In this case I did it because I wanted it for my portfolio... but normally I wouldn't spend soo much time per photo.
I got my new Snap Shot II strobe light the other day. It's a great big thing, made for DJ's light systems. It makes a pretty good photo strobe, though. Nice and short but very intense flashes, up to 15 a second, and it can be controlled by my MAKE: Magazine strobe controller.

Lighting - off camera speedlite in umbrella softbox, camera right and left triggered with RF-602s
just came back from school. Spot the gobo to win a secret prize.
Strobist: SB900 back left 45, 50mm 1/128 gobo'd, SB900 front right just out frame 1/128 28mm grid feathered out.
Hurrell inspired assignment for school. Lighting: One strip bank on each side of my background and a beauty dish overhead and my qflash directly behind the model for my background light.

I have always been fascinated with strobing. Finally got to play around with some strobes with friends. Here are some of the results.

Another from the shoot with Derek trying to get a sequence shot using a strobe. Obviously need a better strobe and environment, but it was still a fun exercise.
SB-800 through a transparent umbrella on the right (visible in the gas mask, actually :) , and a handheld SB-800 in my left hand.
EDIT: This is now my most viewed picture on Flickr. And not a single comment! That must be some kind of record. :)
A little change of pace from my typical import and exotic sports cars.
I used the shoot-through umbrellas/walls as reflectors. The confines were so close that even shooting through the umbrellas at low power was giving hot spots. This lit it a little softer and more evenly.
Was going to do a jumping shot, but didn't want to copy Jen again. I ended up pulling my 3 strobes out, 580ex, Lumopro 160, and Vivitar 273. Setting them all on my truck off camera left and firing them w/ Cybersyncs at FULL power. :)
With my friends here in Bergen...
1 off camera flash at the right side of the pic, 1/4 power, about 5 ft away... if i remember it right.. I used wireless triggers. Camera setting was 1/15 sec @ F 4.0 ISO 400. just used my kit lens on canon 450D.
can't wait for winter to see the effects of these strobes with snow on the ground... planning for 2 more strobes this coming winter..
