This is my canon 28-135mm lens. this is the lens that I use the most when I simply want a good all around lens. I have taken many, many, MANY amazing photos through this lens and it holds many memories in its elements.
in my last photo, I put a small list of things that I am currently planning on buying, when it comes down to the equipment topic.
many of you know that I previously owned a Canon 1D DSLR pro body that just didn't work out for me... it was fast and fun, in good light. but it was very primitive when it came down to low light and image playback, not to mention pre-set color filtering.
I have, however, decided to return to the 1D pro line for another chance with canon's legendary EOS 1 series.
hopefully, by early summer, 2010, I will own a used canon eos 1D MK IIN to pair nicely with my 30d. I also plan on purchasing two L series lenses nearly covering a range of 17-200mm with a small gap in the standard range (40-70mm).
hopefully, by purchasing these tools, I will be able to deliver even better photos to my friends here on flickr, my family and friends here in Columbia, TN, and those all around the world who view my photos, rather they know me or not.
By the way, this is a strobist shot shot with 3 flashes arranged around the lens accordingly. SOOC.
Strobe signal wiring plus blue LED door lights inside a tube, it gets squashed when the door is closed.
Today I finally found my first miniature stranger! Out of the numerous people present for the Strawberry Shortcake Festival, the most common sights I found were mothers who were out with their children. As I watched in amusement as the children played, I saw the most adorable little girl who looked like the perfect subject for a photo. I approached the girl who was playing with little Kirin, and asked her if she thought it might be ok if I took a photo. I had commented on how absolutely adorable she was, but that I also had to make sure to get the parent's permission first. I guess she might have mistook my comment as me interpreting her as the mother, because she was quick to point out that she wasn't Kirin's mother. The real mother then approached as the girl commented on how awkward it would appear if she and Kirin were portrayed together in a photo as mother and daughter.
I introduced myself to Bobbi, the mother, and discovered that she was enjoying the festival with her two daughters, Quinley and Kirin (I hope I got the spelling right). As she spelled out Kirin's name, she said "yes, like the beer." Upon asking for clarification, I found out that Kirin is actually the name of a Japanese brewing company. The story of the name arises from a day when Bobbi was eating in a Japanese steakhouse and was also looking for a name for her daughter that started with a K, to go well with her sister Quinley. It just so happened that the name of a beer on the menu sounded just right. It sounded just right to me, even without the story.
Although her sister Quinley was so shy that she hesitantly offered me a meek handshake under her mother's guidance, Kirin was loving the attention. According to Bobbi, Kirin is usually shy around men but she really seemed to like me. All it took was one of my big dopey grins with an emphatic "Hi!" to get her smiling.
Bobbi helped Kirin up to her feet while the other girl and I cooed at her for the photo op. Upon asking her to wave, she gave us all a giant grin and a wave. Although I have a photo posted in the comments below of both mother and daughter together, I feel that the star of this entry is definitely Kirin. I can safely say that I have found my first miniature starlet for my 100 strangers project!

To be honest, the strobe light flashes way too quickly for me to get an accurate shot of it with my camera. I was snapping pictures essentially at random, as quickly as I could, and one of them came out like this.
I found these old spikes while walking along the railway tracks and thought that they could be used in a picture, but i wasn't sure how. A few days later i was looking at the pocket watch and the idea came together.
Strobist info: Two Vivitar 285hv,,,one from the left front at 45 degrees set to 1/16 power with a soft box,,the second from the right front at 45 degrees set to 1/16 power with a soft box also.
A third flash was on the floor between the camera and subject and aimed directly at a white ceiling using two diffusers to soften the effect. Flashes were triggered with wireless triggers.
The blue is a piece of cardbord underneath and curled up against a wall in the rear.
