I would move here in a heartbeat...that is, if I didn't have 3 grandkiddos in high school and before they grow any larger, I want to spend as much time with them as possible...
but just think - I could stop for my afternoon shot of bourbon and get my ears lowered all at the same time...walking, no less...
Kinda brought back memories of the old TV program "Cheers"...but I think Norm was an accountant...he loved his beer though..."It's a dog-eat-dog world, and I'm wearing Milkbone underwear"...
(that white short on the corner is my new set of horses)...
Sometimes it's worth going up "the little hills" to see what views they reveal and this was one hell of a lovely view from Bryn Banog, Snowdonia National Park, Wales.

Sometimes the mixture of natural and artificial/fluorescent/tungsten lights in a picture gives an surprisingly pleasant combination of colors.
I wouldn't normally post a street picture without people in it, but this small alley is such a wonderful piece of my hometown's history and has a weird beauty of it's own.
the world is scary and unreal...
so sorry for all affected by this tragedy...including Adam Lanza's family...
you do not have to travel a great distance to find a subject that catches your eye. Yesterday I found it in my own backyard. This grouping of toad stools is growing in an unused plating bed. I could picture this image in my head even before I made it. Image made with a Pentax K 3 with post processing in Silver Efex Pro2.
I don't have to hear it, if I don't want to
I can drown this out, pull the curtains down on you
It's a heavy world, it's too much for me to care
If I close my eyes, it's not there*
..but i'm pretty sure if we do open our eyes, we'll see something beautiful :)
Sometimes when we just reach, it drives us to try harder and makes appreciate it all the more when we get it! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
Sometimes it's fun to scroll through your archives and remind yourself that you've seen and experienced some amazing things.
This shot was taken a few years ago at Mono Lake. I still have to pinch myself that I was lucky enough to go there.
This is the southward view from the Grey's Ferry Bridge. I wonder the last time that center column rotated.
I wondered if I was seeing the same things through my eyes that the rest of the world was seeing through theirs."
I wonder how long it has been since anyone just hung out on this fire escape in the Short North; it probably hasn't seen anyone loitering on it as far back as when the windows were boarded up.

Sometimes a flock of five blue jays hits the garden. Today there was just one.

Sometimes it can be very handy having a Tour Guide as a wife. Though technically speaking she isn't allowed to guide in Canterbury Cathedral (as they have their own guides) she still gets concessions and can tell me what is what! So I snapped a quick shot of her in the nave.
sometimes flies; runs with one, walks gravely with another; turns a third into ice, and sets a fourth in a flame: it wounds one, another it kills: like lightning it begins and ends in the same moment: it makes that fort yield at night which it besieged but in the morning; for there is no force able to resist it.
~ Miguel De Cervantes

O Love, what hours were thine and mine,
In lands of palm and southern pine;
In lands of palm, of orange-blossom,
Of olive, aloe, and maize and vine.
~ Alfred Tennyson
Sometimes even rainy days create some pretty things. So this really big puddle in front of the Underground station "Ruhr-Universität" in Bochum.
Not very healthy but blehhh. Traditionally made with suet and a whole lemon, I used butter and made individual puddings instead. More a dribble than a pond but still good. Read more here.
Sometimes you just end up in the right place at the right time. I saw the fox in the horse field behind our house as we drove home. Quickly ran in, grabbed camera and ran up the farm road. I watched it hunt for about 20 minutes - it caught and ate 3 rats. It started to follow the fence round and I realised it was going to pop out right in front of me. The light was poor and tho I took about 400 shots, none were particularly sharp, tho I did fiddle about with various settings. Still don't know what I could have done for better shots, but such a great experience. I'm fairly certain it was aware of me - it was about 12 feet away at its closest, I couldn't get it all in the frame at one point, plus the wind was blowing my scent towards it. I had my beanbag leaning on a gate and was behind a (large!) fencepost. Still it didn't seem bothered and carried on round the fence perimeter hunting as it went, eventually disappearing into the bushes.
Edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
Through the middle of my soul
At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the
Middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
I'm on fire
Chung Wen is about as charming as they come. Mostly, she is a clothing designer, but I am thrilled that I have been able to shoot her as a model a few times. She's a natural. Whenever I am around her, I find myself laughing and smiling. The world needs more people just like her.
Lyrics: I'm On Fire by Bruce Springsteen
It's been a difficult week. Sometimes the pain almost brings me to tears. Fortunately, I can arrange to be by myself at those times. Makes for long, long days. And, my mom has ended up in hospital again. Unfortunately, my sister who spends half the year there, in Az.,returned to Canada yesterday. Any news I get now is third, or fourth hand. What a process. Anyhow, the grey flowers kinda represent how I'm feeling about now. I know many of you won't like the photo, but, that's ok. It is what it is.
Sometimes
Only sometimes
I question everything
And I'm the first to admit
If you catch me in a mood like this
I can be tiring
Even embarrassing
But you must
Feel the same
When you look around
You can't tell me honestly
You're happy with what you see
Oh sometimes
Only sometimes
You must be
You must be
As embarrassing as me
Sometimes
Depeche Mode - Sometimes - Give it a listen...
For some reason that song just came into my head when I looked at this image...
This is SOOC other than conversion to b&w in LR... it is another from my old 135mm Nikkor-Q 2.8...
Thanks for stopping by...
Sometimes things just jump out at you such as this moss covered stump surrounded by shelf fungus. The sun had lit it all up just about perfectly. My wife noticed it first and then so did I. While I did have to ford a water-filled ditch to reach it, the photo was well worth the effort, and that's the story behind the picture.
Photo taken with the Olympus OM-1 and M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro.
Sometimes the clock just ticks slowly. It seems even slower if you're a model figure next to a model train car that will never move down the line, never service a customer, like this scene on my backyard garden railroad.
I model. ahahahahaha
