Test Phottix Easy up softbox and Yongnuo ST-E2

I simply could not resist and put it on the flash for a test shot :)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Though this is hardly the most flattering picture of Jordan, her mom and I love it. She is in the midst of a full belly laugh. This was shot just a few weeks before the docs told us she appears to be in full remission. After six years on a cancer journey, our family received a little closure for Christmas. So, hopefully, there will be a lot more laughing like this in her future.

STROBIST: one SB700 inside the Ezybox 60cm, camera top, gold reflector under for fill.

My DIY Softbox consisting of an old shoe box, aluminum foil, staples(gun), duct tape and some white cloth.

Using this together with my new Sigma EF-530 DG ST.

The softbox is fairly light and mostly does not need any support when attached on the camera, at least not when held up-right.

Some more fun with my crappy DIY softbox (i.e. amazon-box with tinfoil). These are a few shots out of hundreds of shots, most of which I threw away immediately.

Strobist info: EX 430 II @ 1.8 with DIY softbox to the left. Triggered using Phottix Tetra radio triggers.

Pentax 67 105mm Lens

Lighting: A Profoto ComPact with a large octobank softbox was to my left as the main light. Tracy stood about a foot from the softbox.

Profoto ComPact with gridded beauty dish above my right shoulder added a catchlight and a little fill on the hair.

Strobes triggered with PocketWizard Plus II's.

So when I got the assignment I didn't know what to do... and remembered that my friend Burtender had an idea of sticking his head in a softbox ... Thanks Bro !

So there it is !

Strobist info :

Taken with a D80 : 1/200, f/3.2 iso 200

Lens : 35mm DX f1.8

2 sb 600 fired via CLS (yup it worked through the softbox !) :

- 1 in the softbox taped to the model's neck at 1/8 power 24mm

- 1 to camera right with shoot trough umbrella also at 1/8 24mm

I brought some gear with me to my friend's house thinking ill just take some portraits.

Ended up taking some of the funniest pictures i've ever taken.

Hier een softbox met 430EX in gemonteerd.

Strobist: Several pops with flash in softbox (and bare) around the car during several exposures. Then combined together in PS. Some lightpainting involved in some exposures as well.

This was only a test to see if I could pull this off, so I didnt wash the car nor did I try to find a cool location to shot the car in.

Not satisfied with how I forgot to light some parts, but hey it kinda works anyway and next time I will do better.

Solo necesitas una caja de cartón y unas telas o papel.... más barato, imposible!! :-D

Went as guest and photographer to their dreamlike wedding in Kåge.

Strobist: Softbox from left, handheld by brides father (creds).

My daughter's current toy of choice is something called Orbeez - tiny little polymer beads that absorb water and become larger, colourful, squishy and very slippery. They don't photograph well without a lot of light, so we placed some on my iPad and lit them up with the free SoftBox Pro app.

F42AM, fired through diy softbox made from a shoebox at 1/8.

Got a new softbox, Westcott Apollo 28x28, also bought the 40 degree Grid. Set it up tonight and took some hand held self portraits, to test things out. Most of these were shot with manual setting via YN-622C, at either 1/8th power or 1/4 power, focal length set to auto

(Nikon D700, Nikkor 28-70mm)

Duct tape paper clips to the corners, so you can change to whatever front you like.

loving my inflatable softbox. using it here with a CTO gel to match the indoor lighting over a 270ex on a sync cable. this shot is straight out of the camera, no adjustments.. i NEVER do that.

First try with my homemade softbox. (+ one light in front of me...)

multiple exposures with D90.

Strobist: softbox on camera upper left.

I played with the white balance and purposely over exposed the subject to give that sense of "out of body experience" look.

Everything done in camera, touched up in Camera raw, no photoshop
