Testing my Neewer 24x24" softbox against other options.

Thanks to Nina for modelling! Lighting scheme: Speedlight (with 1/2 CTO) on through small softbox from camera right and above, second speedlight from behind and to the left of the model, through medium softbox, also gelled orange. Triggered by Elinchrom Skyports.

Just in case, taped over the flash end of the foil as in that place it is to be stressed when putting on the flash. You can see that the edges for narrow parts are shorter than the ones for wide parts, thats simple geometry but I was intentionally going for it as I decided it does not really matter much.

Day 27 (v 4.0) - camera meet softbox, softbox meet camera

Shot underneath my building outside of my garage. Three speedlights. One on stand at about 7 feet modified by small soft box (DIY Turkey pan). The second one was on the ground snooted pointed at the grill, the othrid was also on the ground and snooted, but, pointed at the front wheel. Not sure why the shutter speed is above 250 and at 320 but thats what the metadata says

Did a nude shoot today with Sir Mark Bruback for my Nudescapes project. Decided to do photos in my bra and panty set that I had bought awhile back but that turned into nudies as well. I'm going to post some of the others as well.

Props to Lesley for showing me this Softbox photo tricky thing. :P :)

As you can see the Softbox gives a nice even soft light. There are no harsh shadows or washed out areas. This image is SOOC, the only thing I did was resize and crop it.

Download the template from www.joezander.com/softbox_lx3.pdf and print it out. You need some packaging plastic, a sharp cutter and adhesive tape.

Got a new softbox, Westcott Apollo 28x28, also bought the 40 degree Grid. Set it up tonight and took some hand held self portraits, to test things out. Most of these were shot with manual setting via YN-622C, at either 1/8th power or 1/4 power, focal length set to auto

solo use un softbox al lado derecho del humo. y un fondo negro! trate de que el flash estuviera detras del fondo, para que el fondo salga mas oscuro

1 flash with a 60x60 cm softbox over the head, maybe 30 cm high. One reflector, white, to the bottom. One flash behind the subject. Just shot in an appartment, no studio. Triggered with RF-603, manual flash.

Nikond D90 and 18-105mm lens.

sb22 with a softbox

homemade reflector

Made from an old cardboard box, sliced the sides and top out, inserted tracing paper and taped up. Added a drape of white fabric to top/back of box, lights go top/side/front whatever.

I use old x-ray lightbox plus fluorescent desk lamp + SB-800 and any ambient lighting I can get...

Ignore crappy shot of this - no time to set up, minimal light and it's the end of a long working day...sigh...

Had a great inaugural shoot wit Aleksandra the other day. Finally got a bit of a studio set-up going for me. Still working stuff out.

Ghetto softbox II: "Do not cover": you need to have a hole here for the SB600/800's IR sensor, or your speedlights won't fire.

Sample output in my photostream...

Strobist: lit by another identical softbox, SB600 inside triggered by SB800 on D3.

SB600 in softbox to the left at 1/2 power, SB900 to the right in softbox at 1/4 power, triggered by Elinchrom Skyports.

Got me a Photogenic 1250 500w/s monolite and a 24 x 36 LiteDome softbox thanks to a fellow photog, testing out the light with my mate and the results are very good, the light is very consistent and the tonality satisfactory.

Strobist info: 1 monolight +softbox camera left up top, 1 bare SB-800 zoomed and gelled camera left for b/g light.

More from my shoot with Cherry.

Strobist: I believe there is a softbox to her left and a beauty dish for fill from around the camera position.

2 Nikon SBs.

One with a softbox and the other with a cardboard grid.

Both from the left. Fill on right.
