The unofficial Ryerss mascot, Snapper is a stuffed baby alligator that served as a calling card tray holder. Placed by the main door, a calling card tray allowed the Victorian visitor to announce himself.

A common snapping turtle that I photographed trying to cross the road into light traffic.

(Yes, I stopped and warned oncoming traffic of his presence.

And as a reward for my efforts, I snapped his photo and he didn't snap me!)

At this time in his (her?) life, about the only thing that they need to fear are trucks and automobiles.

After this brief stare-down, the snapper "scampered" across the road and got on with his life.
