first time seeing one at the RRNC far west pond....haven't seen it there since so i'm thinking it went back across the trail to the other pond
Thawed fish filet marinated in soy sauce, Maggi, the juice of 1/2 lime, a dash of garlic powder and a bit of sesame oil, pan fried in butter and a few drops of macadamia oil and sesame oil.
Accompanied by steamed asparagus, drizzled with a sauce of butter, pepper vinegar, ground cumin and a dash of mild curry powder.
It looks like Nigel has bagged his shot of 66528 'Madge Elliott MBE' climbing up from Crag Hall and past the Fan House.
I chose to hide below this great stone wall, the intention being trying to shield the shot from the low, bright morning sun.

Australia day today.
We got up at 3 am in the morning today to hopefully get a good sunrise for the special day.
This is the result.
Happy Australia day to all the Aussies and a great Sunday for all the rest.
Thanks for looking
Norbert
Yesterday it was Mama deer and babies, this morning it was Two Mama turtles laying eggs in my yard! She looks like she is looking Right at me, but actually I believe she was concentrating on getting all that weight up off the ground and hefted farther up the hill. I believe I heard her groaning at the effort! If nothing comes and eats them, they should hatch sometime in August.
Dressed far more stylishly than I ever was, a Dapper Snapper exits the ticket office at Kinghorn Station in Scotland - only to be confronted by an unexpected paparazzi.

a first for me and 'yes' I watched ! Snapping turtles mate in the water during the spring season with the male mounting from the back using his vent to inseminate the female...females can store the semin for several years and do not require fertiilization on a annual basis....turtles will look for a wet area to lay their eggs. Not so sure he isn't smiling, well, a turtle smile.
ISO was 12800 with such dark conditions...
Emerson is a rescued snapping turtle who was found in a bathtub in an apartment that was vacated. That was many years ago and he is now 30 years old. He resides at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.
..unpacked everything, but still almost missed my Snapper hiding behind my name badge in zip pocket on a bag inside my big #geek bag.
Restored it back with the tags.
Enough infrastructure in this to bring 'net to 150 geeks :)

I arrived looking for Kingfishers and this guy was just sitting out on a post really close. After taking some shots he dived in, got this fish and then luckily went straight back up to a nearby branch very close. Sometimes they seem to fly off a long way to eat but I got lucky and was very close.
Using a Canon R7 so an effective focal length of 1,280mm with a big Canon 400mm f2.8 handheld. I wanted to see gow well the 2x teleconverter retained detail.
