Well folks my garden is really starting to slow down so I decided to take this picture just as a keepsake to remember my garden of 07 by when the cold sets in and the snow start flying. Naomi prepared the みょうが/Myoga we bought a couple of days ago at the grocery store. This is a member of the ginger family but doesn't smell or taste like ginger. This is a slice of the myoga before being sautéed.
みょうが/Myoga is related to the more common ginger seen in western grocery stores (as well as in Asia) but is unusual here even though lots of people here call it Japanese ginger. Naomi found out it's from Eurasia, just like the more common forms of ginger.
