The sketch in the upper right corner is from a photobooth photo of Ava when she wanted to get in one all by herself. She did a cute little wave to the camera, complete with her gapped-tooth smile.
Just playing around here with ways to draw the nose, eyes, cheeks, etc. of my girl.

This was the 2nd of 3 drawings I would do of this very special bouquet, given to me by a stranger at the Maku'u Farmers Market in Pahoa, Big Island Hawaii. It was the lead-in sketch to a larger, color composition. July 15, 2014
On the 11th, I drove out to the refinery again and did a 20 minute sketch on prepainted paper, again using the paint from cleaning up my palette.
I came home and added some color definition and went over lines with a Uni ball Vision pen. ( I really am fond of those pens!) and am fairly pleased with the results though I do not consider myself an industrial observer!

I was determined to salvage something from what was really a poor photo. Bad light, bad color, not even sure of the composition, but there was something in it that I couldn't let go of. So 21 (not kidding!) Photoshop layers later, I'm gonna post it and move on:)
I wanted to make it look like woodblock, but ended up with something more like charcoal sketching. I'll probably try processing it again, from scratch, another day:)
Maybe I'll try to actually sketch it!
OK.. This is my personal fave and I know I must send it off in the mail!!!
