My co-worker/naturalist Kristen and I let a field sketching workshop of Friday morning. None of us wanted it to end!
My try to become a fancy sketcher with a Limocolor marker was a total failure. My cheap sketchbook protests against expansive drawing materials :)
The sketch in the upper right corner is from a photobooth photo of Ava when she wanted to get in one all by herself. She did a cute little wave to the camera, complete with her gapped-tooth smile.
Just playing around here with ways to draw the nose, eyes, cheeks, etc. of my girl.
I drew these two drawings of little Andrea, circa 1972, off of this beautiful photo and this one. I love how one photo has everyone looking directly at the camera, and the other is totally candid.
Just look at how adorable Andrea was back then. That girl's still just as adorable. (I'm supposed to say things like that, but here I really really mean it.)

I was determined to salvage something from what was really a poor photo. Bad light, bad color, not even sure of the composition, but there was something in it that I couldn't let go of. So 21 (not kidding!) Photoshop layers later, I'm gonna post it and move on:)
I wanted to make it look like woodblock, but ended up with something more like charcoal sketching. I'll probably try processing it again, from scratch, another day:)
Maybe I'll try to actually sketch it!
