Sculpt progress on Amanda Ripley - 1:18 scale - Alien: Isolation. A work in progress. Still working on the details to the back of the figure, the arms and head are still being worked on, finer details and the accessories are also being made. #alienisolation #alien #nostromo #sevastopolstation #sculpting #sith_fire30 (4 photos)
Close-up of the Darth Vader head sculpt I have been working on . Star Wars 1:18 scale. A work in progress. Painted test piece with flat black and gloss for the dome. Used while sculpting the rest of the body. The final pieces will contain more details. Dome is removable, held by a magnet. #starwars #darthvader #anewhope #episodeVII
Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt made entirely from Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC
I said "entirely" because it's the first figure I have created so far in which I haven't used a frame of any kind to sculpt upon. Total FIXIT with a little weight to it - makes it feel expensive LOL! I need to do a scale shot to show how it scales to my 3.75" figures in the series.
Working on completing the lower abdomen of the creature, which will connect via a ball socket to the upper torso...that comes later in the casting phase. Right now, all the parts will be connected via wire or wax clay. Haven't completed the back section of the lower abdomen yet.
Next step after finishing the lower abdomen will be the upper arms and the hips. I plan on tooling the arms with traditional shoulder joints with the hips being connected via ball sockets. This can all change as the sculpt progresses.
Hope you all enjoy the update. More to come! #newborn #alienresurrection #miniature #customactionfigure #alien #adi #studioadi
Completed 1:18 scale, 5" tall articulated sculpt of one half of the Moomo Brothers bounty hunter team, Del Moomo. This character can be found in the pages of Dark Hose comics Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic written by John Jackson Miller and inspired by the artwork of Brain Ching.
Figure is a complete sculpt for the exception of the hands, neck of the head and parts of the feet. The sculpt was build around a custom built articulated frame.
Figure has 12 points of articulation.
Sculpt made with Aves FIXIT.
Hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.
As seen in the film, the other three Engineers in their chambers did not survive their slumber....something "burst" out.... It has not been confirmed what happened though. Melted canopy - PROMETHEUS 1:18 scale. The three corpses inside the chambers will be weathered husks using casts of the surviving Engineer, and the canopies will clouded to resemble chemical burn and reaction. #Prometheus #engineer #deacon #chestburster
Some images of a test cast of the Protomorph (Xenomorph) Head sculpt and Jaw. Cast was made using smooth-on Smooth Cast 320. I resculpted the teeth of the head as I was not happy with the softness of the detail pulled from the cast. The jaw fits in nicely - more detail shots (profiles) will be shown soon. Once the dome is made, the inner mouth and tendons will be attached to complete the first master. Then I will work on a couple variants. #alien #aliens #covenant #protomorph #xenomorph #sculpture #avesstudio #avesFIXITsculpt #smoothon #smoothcast320
Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien:Covenant
Tabled for a few weeks while I got started on a few others projects but back at it over the weekend focusing on the mouth. I have mentioned that I plan to do variants of this head sculpt (open mouth, closed, concept etc) and decided it would be easier to build the variants if I was to sculpt the open mouth first than to try to do it vice-versa.
Sculpt is based on concept art by Colvin Shulver. Find his work on ArtStation. www.artstation.com/artwork/bxJYo as well as the build work from Odd Studio
First was to drill and clear out a cavity for the mouth's opening, then build up the mandible, allow to cure, then the tongue and upper jaw.
Using Aves FIXIT for the build (Aves Studio LLC). Added a dime to give a sense of scale for the piece. The teeth are still being refined. I hope to have the head sculpted and reduce the ear openings a bit on my next go. More to come!!! #alien #aliens #aliencovenant #neomorph #oddstudio #concept #miniature #customactionfigure #monsters #sculpture

Sculpt/Build update of the "Crabwalking" Alien - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. This figure is inspired by a deleted scene for the 1979 Sir Ridley Scott film - ALIEN. You'll understand the figure more if you take a moment to check out the deleted scene - youtu.be/eR5jYeIMBKk
Finished the build yesterday. The final figure has better articulation than originally expected. I can actually pose the figure from a "crawl" to a "rising" position which is a plus since I originally conceived the idea of the figure being a static posed piece. An unpainted resin piece, using revoltech joints in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, upper legs, knees and ankles. The tail is held by a magnet, is static (hard plastic) and comes in three positions: curled, unfurling and straight. #alien #nostromo #deletedscene #lambert #crabwalking #giger #creepy #figure #art #sculpt
The 1:18th scale, 4" tall sculpt of Starkiller from the Force Unleashed 2 is completed. This sculpt depicts Starkiller as he appears in the teaser trailer for the Lucasarts game as well as many of the promotional commercials...

Starkiller's two head sculpts (standard and "rage") are original sculpts depicting the character from the concept art and not that of the actor. When I have time I will go back and sculpt an actor likeness.
The shoulder armor is a seperate piece and is attached by a clear band around the shoulder.
The body is a full sculpt using a custom made articluated frame or armature. The figure contains 14 points of articulation.
Included to hilts which are built from existing parts, can be attached to chest using clear banding. Also included are to sabers with attached beams. Lightsabers do not light up.
The arena robes are from the Darth Maleval box set and was altered/reworked then painted to give a worn look. Hood is from a VOTC Darth Sideous, altered and repainted.
Figure was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.
Sculpt progress on the Engineers - Prometheus 1:18 scale. Focusing in on the head variant featuring the sleeping giant's breathing mask and the decapitated artifact. The head shown hidden under the helmet isn't a final sculpt - merely for placement. The helmet and the lip holding the head connects via a small magnet so the piece can be picked up without fear of the lower half falling out. #Prometheus #engineer #spacejockey

I try to update you with as much of my Nostromo build as possible...even the less interesting things, even when they contain MAJOR screw-ups. This image contains both....You have your pilot chair, alt. flight chair and the chair for MUTHUR's control room....all work in progress. Then you have the last sectional for the galley...and here is where the screw up lies. Those that are geeked out fans of the ship (like me) will be able to tell you right away that this sectional isn't long enough....the padding up top tells the story. It should have 6 pads up top, not five. Check out the actual set image and see for yourself. This pattern should also echo in the back of the chair as well - it doesn't....and I thought I was finished. I can fix this one of two ways...place this in the Sevastopol set work and start over with a new one or extend this piece up to another inch. It can be done! The padding can easily pop off and the styrene cut. It just sucks to have these set backs ya know? You customizers and model makers know this all too well!

The final back panel of the Nostromo bridge diorama is close to completion! Unfortunately I've run out of molding material to make a cast of it!.....Isn't that always the way! Alien (79) - 1:18 scale. Next step is to build the first level floor to the bridge. #nostromo #alien #sith_fire30
Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien: Covenant. Completed the initial head sculpt of the beast - open mouth, attack. The next step will be to mold and cast successfully. At that point, I can take a couple quality casts and mod the sculpt to create the other two variants. Began work on the upper torso of the Neomorph - update coming soon.Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio LLC.

Sculpted the center control station for the Nostromo Sleep Chamber - ALIEN (1979) - 1:18 scale. This is a rough Monster Clay sculpt that will be better refined with additional details added after a mold bath and cast is created. First this piece will go in the refrigerator of several hours so that the pods can be easily removed from the sculpt. From there a mold will be made and the cast from that mold will be the piece I will refine and detail. At this point I will work on hinges for the pod canopies to attached to. Canopies will be opened by hand. I had this dream of being able to push on the top center and all the canopies would open all at once....I'm sure it could be done but I don't have the tooling and time to create such a gizmo....perhaps an upgrade later? I can see it happening #alien #nostromo #sleepchamber #sith_fire30
"What's the matter man....the foods not that bad baby".....Successful casting of the chestburster - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 79. The little one can rotate around thanks to the use of a small magnet. I have in mind to sculpt one tucked in a resting position within the cavity. This is going to look a mess (in a good way) once painted up - so clean and sterile right now. #alien #chestburster #kane #sith_fire30
ALIEN - "The Beast" 1:18 scale. Busy sculpting a variant head to the creature - merely a different expression. I want to complete four versions : Closed, Partially Open, Open (with inner mouth exposed) and Strike (with inner mouth shooting forward). Not completed with the details behind the jaw so I will work on that a bit tonight before moving on to the next one. Clouding up the dome a bit with some fine sandpaper. #alien #nostromo #xenomorph
Sculpt progress on some figures over the long weekend - most of my time was spent building the Sulaco Sleep Chamber but had some time to practice a little LED wiring as well as make some sculpt progress and a handful of ALIEN themed characters. Focusing on the Nostromo space suits and finishing my first version of Lambert. All 1:18 scale. #alien #aliens #nostromo #spacesuits #Moebius #sith_fire30
Additional images of "The Beast" - 1:18 scale plastic cast assembly - ALIEN (1979). Made some adjustments to the hands (smaller) and slight adjustments to the ankles and fittings on the back. Still need to make adjustments to the head sculpts and cast the bendy tail. Getting there!!! #alien #nostromo #giger

Working a bit on Nostromo's Main Air Lock section this week. ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Waiting to purchase additional molding and casting materials which gives me time to return to previous projects like this one. Partially assembled in this image, need to add railings and ceiling detail.#nostromo #alien #mainairlock #diorama
Started to sculpt the centerpiece to the Nostromo sleep chamber, bringing all seven separate chambers together. ALIEN 1979 - 1:18 scale. I considered creating the center station entirely out of sheet styrene but decided a combination of clay, cast and styrene will work best. First step will be to sculpt the body of the centerpiece...minimal detail at best. Second will be to mold and cast the finished sculpt, cast and refine shape. Next I'll add detail with sheet styrene and other greeblie work needed and finally mold and cast the finished piece, bring the pods back together and mend gaps using epoxy making the connections seamless. #alien #sleepchamber #nostromo #sith_fire30
An additional shot of Nostromo's Main Airlock while looking toward the interior hatch entrance. 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79.
Best guess on how this looked since it wasn't shown in the film. Everything seen in these shots plastic cast pieces of the original scratch built masters (for the exception of the clear acrylic window of the hatch). #nostromo #alien #mainairlock
I did some casting to build a couple of corridor walls for deck A of the Nostromo. These two corridor walls are full resin casts and are about 90% complete in build - need to add a control panel or two as well as a few additional tubes/wire. Everything you see in these images are cast pieces from molds that came from scratch builds (for exception of the Parker and Brett figures). I'm very close to completing all corridors leading from the galley of the ship. All I need to do it create the flooring....which means some laser work is about to go out soon. #alien #nostromo #sith_fire30
Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN (79).
Material used - Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Clay
Completed the sculpt of the "control sticks" for each hand, "the interface" and detail along the back of the pilot's chair. I want to tackle the upper rear of the pilot chair before moving onto another project. Been a couple additional weeks than I planned to work on this piece but I'm "in the zone" so to speak and want to continue while not suffering a loss of interest. I'm doing this in my own time and not for a client so I have that luxury.
Crazy to think I look at this piece as becoming an "action figure accessory" or some part of a 1:18 scaled play set. It's where my mindset is...always has been since this ALIEN 79 project started. It just so happens that it's a sculpture study at the same time LOL!
I've taken care to be as accurate as possible to the Giger production version of the doomed pilot but I'm sure a few spots have emerged as "best interpretation" at this point. I'm not looking to be 100% spot on. I don't think anyone who has taken on this project has. I hope those of you who are die hard Space Jockey fans will be forgiving.

The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.
Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders
and legs.
When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.
Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Sculpt week progress as of Feb 12. Worked on completing the sculpt for Lambert's crew jacket as well as the crew tee worn by Captain Dallas. ALIEN - 1:18 scale - Aves FIXIT sculpt. Had to work to keep the mid chest articulation from being fused into place while sculpting both figures. Aves is a brilliant material in it's final hour of curing when it comes to folds and wrinkles in fabric or building armor. Whatever substrate or sculpted surface you are sculpting over, at this stage you can pry it away from that surface without damaging the new sculpt. It's tricky but it works. #alien #avesfixitsculpt #nostromo #sith_fire30
