Paint progress on "The Beast" - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Thanks to some creative suggestions from many of you on how to make dripping saliva for the creature, I chose to use a dab of hot glue to create the effect you see here...very happy with the results!!!
I actually took it a bit further and coated the glue with clear gloss which will give it a little more strength. Plan to do this with the inner jaw as well! Added a scale shot (little out of focus).

Build update on the Command Console Chair for the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. I already had some chairs made for other parts of the ship so I just whittled down a copy using a dremel and began sculpting new upholstry to the seat using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Usually the first attempt at a new alien dome would require at least one adjustment so that the dome "snaps" into place....This time though, success straight from the gate!!! This dome snaps perfectly onto the alien head and hugs the contours just underneath.
Images you see here are of both the master sculpt and initial cast with domes attached. I increase the tones in the images so you can see the shell of the clear dome.

Several work in progress image of the Nostromo Airlock Vestibule chamber - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 1979. After creating the vectors, I received several cut/etched parts needed to begin building the vestibule including the floor and two entrances. Next step is detailing of the pieces, molding/casting along with creating the walls that will bring the room together. With the release of NECA's concept alien figure recently I thought it may be worthwhile to create the variant using my sculpt at 1:18 scale. Torso and head parts have been clear cast using Smooth-On Crystal Clear 300 and slight color tints using white and yellow. Each piece will be dry brushed so the skin will appear translucent. Build progress on Ash - Sleep Chamber. Alien 79 - 1:18 scale. Sculpting a static figure to go along with Nostromo's Sleep Chamber diorama. Bringing parts together using Aves FIXIT and fitting the figure within the chamber by sculpting the bedding around it. The bodies proportions will be worked on once all the parts have come together. Build update to the AutoDoc medical station-NOSTROMO-ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began building up the central section of the room, Completed the monitor suite above the bed as well as the surgical tool locker. I'm thinking of using a sticker/decal for the tools instead of cutting then out piece by piece. Began working on the overhead which needs some revisions after realizing it's too wide and the front isn't supposed to be curved if only slightly. Sorry for the painters tape in the shot but it's necessary to get the feel for what I'm doing. Sculpt progress on Rick Deckard - Blade Runner - I:18 scale. Trench coat version. The coat is being sculpted to the upper torso...similar to my Roy Batty figure, which will allow for an alternate upper torso to be swapped out. Sculpt material is Aves FIXIT Sculpt. #bladerunner #Deckard #replicant
Worked a little more on the EVA Suits from both ALIEN and ALIEN: Isolation....including my own LOL! 1:18 scale. Updating the sculpt to the Ripley Narcissus EVA suit as it has different shin padding and shoes than those for the Nostromo. Additional casts were made of shoulder armor and oxygen tanks needed to complete the figures. I created a second suit for Amanda Ripley - The original Torrens suit and the standard suit she wears on and off throughout the game....I think it's color is a neutral white and gray. May make a couple more, one for Samuels and another for Taylor before painting over the holiday break. Completed cast prototype of "The Beast" - 1:18 scale, ALIEN (1979). Most of the figure you see here is put together by wired joints. I do have ball joints working in the shoulders, head, wrists and torso but the rest are being held together by bendable wire. Sufficient to give me a stable figure to look at and make any additional adjustments before creating the final painted version with full articulation. The tail is a static casting bent into shape before curing completely. The final version will be a bendy tail. I have several different head sculpts to go along with this custom piece - now that the body is very close to being finished, I can get back to concentration of the head sculpts and the rest of the crew. Paint progress on "The Beast" - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. So I'm closing in on completing the paint work for the several head variants I have created for the beast. This particular variant depicts the creature as it revealed itself to Brett and Jonesy in the landing gear bay of the Nostromo. It's dome and flesh of the beast appears to look pale, possibly the lighting they used or the fact that the creature recently shed it's skin?...very creepy and disturbing so I had to recreate it in 1:18 scale smile emoticon . #alien #nostromo #giger #painting #sculpting
The sleeping giant - Engineer in Sleep Chamber - Prometheus 1:18 scale. - So I took the cast of the Engineer I created earlier last week, and shaped it using a hot gun to give the body the appearance it was at rest. The head sculpt of the masked giant is complete and has been cast and attached to the body. Next step are the tubes leading from the chamber to the Engineer as well as the tubes leading from the exterior rear of the chamber. The tubes for the Engineer will be borrowed while the exterior tubes will be sculpted and cast in rubber. #Prometheus #sleepchamber #engineer
Nostromo Main Air Lock - 1:18 scale UPDATE. ALIEN (1979). Spent some time creating the interior wall racking using butyrate tubing. Took some time to get the hang of it and I may still want to go back and redo a couple because of irregularities but all in all they turned out pretty nice for it being my first time using the tube material. Next up for this project will be the finer detail to the interior walls as well as the ceiling build. I've attached some updated images of my progress. #alien #nostromo #airlock
Sculpt progress on the "Dog" alien from ALIEN3 - 1:18 scale. Began sculpting the teeth last night. I still need to add some length and sharpness to the canines of the creature but I was more focused on the lips and gum line as well as the spacing for each tooth this go around.

So here's a couple images of the build work so far for the Cafeteria Corridor of the Nostromo - Alien 79 - 1:18 scale. Nothing too flashy- still looking rough while building but later things will begin to tighten up. My original plan was to have the more familiar (movie featured)side of the corridor have accessible cabinets and the other side sealed....yet when I began to build I focused on the "sealed" side first unintentionally and found myself building in shelves. Nostromo build update..."Mother" Security Portal - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. "Security Portal" - it's the doorway section with the supposed scan that lights up allowing access to the "Mother's Womb" as Ridley Scott likes to call it. The first section of the corridor that leads to the Nostromo's master computer - a work in progress. I realized it's a tad taller than it should be...not much of a concern. Had to compensate for making the entrance from the bridge a tad too large. Still works smile emoticon
SO MUCH DETAIL into what I thought would be a simple panel wall. The more I studied the photos however, the more I realized just how much attention was given to every corner of these stage designs. Brilliant and insane.
One day soon I will master LEDs and how to wire them appropriately. Knowing that, I decided to create the doorway using clear acrylic as the frame. This is so I can add LED panels to the exterior later and recreate the lighting effect. Currently, the light is emanating from a handheld LED light...but even this offers an awesome effect. Sculpt update - Began working on the build late last week but haven't had time to post updates so what you will see here is a series of images taken along the course of several days (more like very late nights). The material I am using is Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.
I always begin with sculpting the head first. This creature is larger that the standard xeno warrior so the figure will be featuring a completely new sculpt, no recast parts from others I've made. The body will be similar to the big chap (alien 79), but slightly larger, with longer limbs and fingers. I'm staying true to the artists concepts and panel depictions of the beast within the comic....to the best of my ability. This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to sculpting comic based characters (Star Wars anyone?).
The skull will be a hard shell, similar to the warrior drone. Very similar to the spitter alien (Colonial Marines) so I'm using a reduce frame of an existing spitter head cast. The head sculpt will feature both an open and closed mouth. Waiting to find out if the beast features a traditional inner jaw or an expanding protrusion similar to the Deacon from prometheus. About a half inch longer than the warrior drone head.

The first of two semi-static posed figures of the creature from the 1979 film, Alien. Hand sculpted, hand painted. This version depicts the beast as it would have appeared in several promotional test shots during pre-production, the air duct scene where Captain Dallas met his end as well as a deleted scene appearing within the corridor while Parker and Lambert were making their desperate escape.
Figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable.
Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

I said "entirely" because it's the first figure I have created so far in which I haven't used a frame of any kind to sculpt upon. Total FIXIT with a little weight to it - makes it feel expensive LOL! I need to do a scale shot to show how it scales to my 3.75" figures in the series.
Working on completing the lower abdomen of the creature, which will connect via a ball socket to the upper torso...that comes later in the casting phase. Right now, all the parts will be connected via wire or wax clay. Haven't completed the back section of the lower abdomen yet.
Next step after finishing the lower abdomen will be the upper arms and the hips. I plan on tooling the arms with traditional shoulder joints with the hips being connected via ball sockets. This can all change as the sculpt progresses.

Sculpt progress on Lambert (Veronica Cartwright) - ALIEN 1979 - 1:18 scale. Sculpted some of the pants last night - sans the pockets and padding that will be added later. Added some surface to the shoulders in preparation of adding detail later. The head sculpt was created over a year ago and painted. I'm happy with the outcome - not overly concerned about 100% likeness here...although I try my best to capture something close. The main sculpt of Lambert will have her sporting the white shirt and vest. The remaining upper torso variants will be white shirt only and the final wearing the jacket. Sculpt progress on the Chestburster - Kane - Alien 1:18 (79) scale. Created a cup to sculpt down into and build up to create the exposed cavity and the distressed garment Kane is wearing at the moment of his demise. This entire section is removable. The tail of the burster has been sculpted - the remaining baby burster will be sculpted separately to fit in the cavity you see here. I have in mind to do a version that can move and push up and through the chest using a tab going through the figure and the table along with magnets. Completed 1:18 scale, 5" tall articulated sculpt of one half of the Moomo Brothers bounty hunter team, Del Moomo. This character can be found in the pages of Dark Hose comics Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic written by John Jackson Miller and inspired by the artwork of Brain Ching.
Figure is a complete sculpt for the exception of the hands, neck of the head and parts of the feet. The sculpt was build around a custom built articulated frame.
Figure has 12 points of articulation.

ALIEN - "The Beast" 1:18 scale. Busy sculpting a variant head to the creature - merely a different expression. I want to complete four versions : Closed, Partially Open, Open (with inner mouth exposed) and Strike (with inner mouth shooting forward). Starkiller's two head sculpts (standard and "rage") are original sculpts depicting the character from the concept art and not that of the actor. When I have time I will go back and sculpt an actor likeness.
The shoulder armor is a seperate piece and is attached by a clear band around the shoulder.
The body is a full sculpt using a custom made articluated frame or armature. The figure contains 14 points of articulation.
Included to hilts which are built from existing parts, can be attached to chest using clear banding. Also included are to sabers with attached beams. Lightsabers do not light up.
The arena robes are from the Darth Maleval box set and was altered/reworked then painted to give a worn look. Hood is from a VOTC Darth Sideous, altered and repainted.
Figure was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.
Lace and patch work for "Facehugger Attack" Kane - Alien 79 - 1:18 scale. A static posed figure of Kane as he has succumbed to the facehugger parasite. Still have some laces to sculpt. The head sculpt will be interchangeable to feature the facehugger version as well as a Kane sculpt.
