Finished the second Engineer sculpt last night! Prometheus - 1:18 scale. Also working on completing the alternate head sculpts including the sleep mask posted yesterday. I am also working on the Engineer helmet that contains the decapitated head of an engineer inside. Been a crazy couple weeks with the Holidays ramping up and office work to be completed...but things are slowly getting back to normal and I finally had some time to complete one of the hands to the Egglayer Xenomorph.
I haven't sculpted many hands so it's a fun challenge and allows me to accumulate some teachable moments through trial and error. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger right?
Elongated fingers are creepy so I may have slightly drifted from the comic reference material a tad but I think it will add to the finished figure. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, I have included a before and after shot for those interested, as well as a scale shot for the curious.
I will sculpt the second hand in the same dynamic fashion along with a neutral set of hands similar to the smaller Big Chap I did a few years back.
May be my last update for the new year? Not sure. Anyway, thank you all for your continued support! I hope to bring much more to the custom hobby next year. 2019 was a struggle to get things moving but I battled through it.

Starkiller's two head sculpts (standard and "rage") are original sculpts depicting the character from the concept art and not that of the actor. When I have time I will go back and sculpt an actor likeness.
The shoulder armor is a seperate piece and is attached by a clear band around the shoulder.
The body is a full sculpt using a custom made articluated frame or armature. The figure contains 14 points of articulation.
Included to hilts which are built from existing parts, can be attached to chest using clear banding. Also included are to sabers with attached beams. Lightsabers do not light up.
The arena robes are from the Darth Maleval box set and was altered/reworked then painted to give a worn look. Hood is from a VOTC Darth Sideous, altered and repainted.
Figure was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.
Several work in progress images of the Nostromo Galley - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 1979. Created the vector of the galley floor and received the etched piece over the weekend. Hand sculpting the walls "Egyptian motif". The larger couch of the set of three is complete and needs a mold bath. Need to work on the table base next. Slowly coming together - I have the entire kitchen section to do next. Started to sculpt the centerpiece to the Nostromo sleep chamber, bringing all seven separate chambers together. ALIEN 1979 - 1:18 scale. I considered creating the center station entirely out of sheet styrene but decided a combination of clay, cast and styrene will work best. First step will be to sculpt the body of the centerpiece...minimal detail at best. Second will be to mold and cast the finished sculpt, cast and refine shape. Next I'll add detail with sheet styrene and other greeblie work needed and finally mold and cast the finished piece, bring the pods back together and mend gaps using epoxy making the connections seamless. #alien #sleepchamber #nostromo #sith_fire30

Busy sculpting the lower abdomens of three projects so far, this being one of them. Completed the spinal column last night - not worried about limited to the articulation at this point. Only caring about the sculpt. Articulation can be solved in the casting phase where I don't have to cause damage to the master sculpt...."cause damage" may seem a little harsh. How about "make adjustments" lol! More updates to come.

ALIEN 3 - Runner "Dog" Alien - 1:18 scale work in progress - Sculpted more of the teeth, shaprened the canines and added detail to the inside of the mandable. Currently working on the inner jaw. Will have two options, both attached using a magnet - retracted and extended (strike). Also while I was at it, sculpted a closed mouth version of the beastie Also worked on the longer, lower torso. The challenge will be how to make the legs work in both an upright and prone position.
Sculpt progress on the Derelict Corridor Diorama - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Still building the surface of the corridor and began to build the opposite wall per the design they used in the production build. The top and bottom sections of the new wall are held with aluminum rods and will be sculpted over and gaps filled with Aves FIXIT sculpt. The Egg Morpher (Xeno) - ALIEN: Defiance (Dark Horse Comics) - 1:18 scale....Pulled from the pages of the Dark Horse Comics series Alien: Defiance and inspired by the artwork of artist Tristan Jones.
Sculpt update - Began working on the build late last week but haven't had time to post updates so what you will see here is a series of images taken along the course of several days (more like very late nights). The material I am using is Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.
I always begin with sculpting the head first. This creature is larger that the standard xeno warrior so the figure will be featuring a completely new sculpt, no recast parts from others I've made. The body will be similar to the big chap (alien 79), but slightly larger, with longer limbs and fingers. I'm staying true to the artists concepts and panel depictions of the beast within the comic....to the best of my ability. This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to sculpting comic based characters (Star Wars anyone?).
The skull will be a hard shell, similar to the warrior drone. Very similar to the spitter alien (Colonial Marines) so I'm using a reduce frame of an existing spitter head cast. The head sculpt will feature both an open and closed mouth. Waiting to find out if the beast features a traditional inner jaw or an expanding protrusion similar to the Deacon from prometheus. About a half inch longer than the warrior drone head.

Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien:Covenant
Tabled for a few weeks while I got started on a few others projects but back at it over the weekend focusing on the mouth. I have mentioned that I plan to do variants of this head sculpt (open mouth, closed, concept etc) and decided it would be easier to build the variants if I was to sculpt the open mouth first than to try to do it vice-versa.

First was to drill and clear out a cavity for the mouth's opening, then build up the mandible, allow to cure, then the tongue and upper jaw.
Using Aves FIXIT for the build (Aves Studio LLC). Added a dime to give a sense of scale for the piece. The teeth are still being refined. I hope to have the head sculpted and reduce the ear openings a bit on my next go. ALIEN - "The Beast" 1:18 scale. Busy sculpting a variant head to the creature - merely a different expression. I want to complete four versions : Closed, Partially Open, Open (with inner mouth exposed) and Strike (with inner mouth shooting forward). The long tail of the beast - Alien: Isolation - :18 scale. Assembling and sculpting the alien from the Creative Assembly game. The tail is twice as long as the 79 beastie - just took the original tail and doubled the length. Currently it is hard plastic...hope to make a bendy tail from it soon. Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, torso, hips, knees etc.....similar to the 79 Alien I'm finishing up. Sculpting the new lower legs that are similar to the runner (dog) alien in Alien3 so it's a good introduction to what awaits me when I continue to build that particular beast. I've never been happy with my head sculpt of the creature...it's always been a little off from the art Tristan created. The other day, I reworked the head sculpt once more, adding a thicker, longer jaw bone, adding some meat to the cranium and shortening the winged flaps on both sides of the frontal section. I also pushed the jaw back a bot giving the creature a slight overbite.
Much happier with the look now and should be even happier once the tendons surrounding the mouth are sculpted in.
Shaped the wire for the new hand...already began the sculpt of the fingers which will be updated soon.
I've brought down another piece to the workbench...it's been awhile and hope to get some new sculpt progress made soon. #spacejockey

Sculpt update on the Queen - ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale. Worked on the back "fins" of the crown - one side close to completion, the other side dremeled and ready for sculpting. Also finished dremeling out the underside of the carapace so I can begin sculpting the details once the top surface is complete... Will not be long till I begin sculpting the Queen's head! Back at it working on my 1:18 scaled Darth Vader. Sculpt progress on version 1 of the cape. The figure will have a mix of soft goods and rubber. The capes will be cast in black rubber. Helmet is a test paint version - great for using when building the figure. Final helmet will contain more paint detail. So far I have completed the shape of the draped piece. Will go back and add textural detail before giving the cape a mold bath. Much more work to be made to the figure sculpt. Close to completing a self portrait sculpt wearing a Weyland-Yutani EVA suit. ALIEN - 1:18 scale. Sculpted the head gear over top my existing head sculpt. Now the question...what color should it be? Dallas was mauve/pink, Lambert was blues and Kane was yellows. I was thinking of earth tones like browns or a light green. Nothing too flashy. #alien #sith_fire30 #nostromo #EVA
Completed cast prototype of "The Beast" - 1:18 scale, ALIEN (1979). Most of the figure you see here is put together by wired joints. I do have ball joints working in the shoulders, head, wrists and torso but the rest are being held together by bendable wire. Sufficient to give me a stable figure to look at and make any additional adjustments before creating the final painted version with full articulation. The tail is a static casting bent into shape before curing completely. The final version will be a bendy tail. I have several different head sculpts to go along with this custom piece - now that the body is very close to being finished, I can get back to concentration of the head sculpts and the rest of the crew. I have a build itch that's needing to be scratched so expect a return to the Nostromo build soon.

Several work in progress image of the Nostromo Airlock Vestibule chamber - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 1979. After creating the vectors, I received several cut/etched parts needed to begin building the vestibule including the floor and two entrances. Next step is detailing of the pieces, molding/casting along with creating the walls that will bring the room together. Figure is a complete sculpt using a custom articluated frame as it's armature. The 8 different heads have all been sculpted and hand painted - each depicting a window of time in the life of Malgus and inspired by the cinematic trilogies created by Blur Studios: Return, Hope and Deceived.

All armor is hand sculpted and original. The chest and left shoulder armor are removable and can be replaced with "battle damaged" armor as an alternate. Hood is a sculpted piece and works along side the soft goods cape which is an altered piece from a store bought VOTC Darth Vader.
Lightsaber is hand sculpted, casted in plastic. Saber does not light up. Bean is removable from hilt.

Progress on the Nostromo - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 1979. Working on corridors when I can find the time. A bit stretched with it being the holidays and all - plenty of late night/early morning work last week since it was the only time I could find. Building each corridor wall is a chore but looks so good when a set begins to take shape. I'm presently working on the corridors stretching from the galley as well as the stretch of corridor that wraps around the Auto Doc (Medical Bay). And wouildn;t ya know...just when I get on a role I run out of material...all materials!!! Molding, casting, sheet styrene, sculpting materials - I need to better manage my inventory! I said "entirely" because it's the first figure I have created so far in which I haven't used a frame of any kind to sculpt upon. Total FIXIT with a little weight to it - makes it feel expensive LOL! I need to do a scale shot to show how it scales to my 3.75" figures in the series.
Working on completing the lower abdomen of the creature, which will connect via a ball socket to the upper torso...that comes later in the casting phase. Right now, all the parts will be connected via wire or wax clay. Haven't completed the back section of the lower abdomen yet.
Next step after finishing the lower abdomen will be the upper arms and the hips. I plan on tooling the arms with traditional shoulder joints with the hips being connected via ball sockets. This can all change as the sculpt progresses.

Slowly building the beast from Alien: Isolation - 1:18 scale. I'm thinking that the lower half of this beast will have limited articulation because of stability...perhaps not. I haven't decided yet. I don't see a reason for the upper legs to ever straighten vertically. Right now concentrating on the sculpt of the lower legs. Sculpt progress on the Chestburster - Kane - Alien 1:18 (79) scale. Created a cup to sculpt down into and build up to create the exposed cavity and the distressed garment Kane is wearing at the moment of his demise. This entire section is removable. The tail of the burster has been sculpted - the remaining baby burster will be sculpted separately to fit in the cavity you see here. I have in mind to do a version that can move and push up and through the chest using a tab going through the figure and the table along with magnets. This will be a heck of a project to paint when complete. #alien #chestburster #kane
