Upper body sculpt is close to completion - working on the back and additional detailing to the body straps and lightsabers. The sabers are made up from existing sabers, cut up and glued together to resemble the ones used in the trailers. I've made molds to produce casts. Once the casts are made, I will add the wrap detail using real cloth. The sabers are held to the chest by two thin, clear rubber loops...tried clips but were too big and looked obvious. The bands may be seen but can easily be ignored.
Work in Progress on the body of Starkiller in his Arena Combat Gear - the costume mostly associated with this character in The Force Unleashed 2. Working is the upper body, abdomen, shoulders, arms and body armor.
**UPDATE** Completed the forearms and added the first layer of sculpt to the upper legs. The lower abdomen and back still need some work. The arms are maxxed out on articulation - swivel/hinge joints to the the wrists, swivel joint on the forearm and the elbow/shoulder are ball joints. Due to the damage Malgus received to his jaw, throat and neck during the Aldreean campaign, a special mask had to be worn for protection. This sculpt (not completed - additional details need to be applied) reflects his appearance during the "Deceived" trailer as he commanded Imperial/Sith forces in the sacking of Coruscant.

An update on my Darth Malgus sculpt - I have resculpted the forearm tech with added detail and sharper lines - still needs refinement. Not 100% accurate to that of the reference images but I’m satisfied :) - Only minor adjustments needed till sculpting of Malgus is complete. Still need to create lightsaber.
I have completed the sculpts to my Tonnika Sister figure set. Both measure approx. 3.75" and are fully articulated. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt - will refine a bit and prep them to be painted soon!

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "Mother" security corridor - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sometimes the build requires creating pieces not seen and are made to simply give stability and bring together various parts of a diorama. Although the ceiling of the security corridor contains some detail, the main build of the frame's purpose is to plug in and hold the walls together. Nothing really fancy to show and I haven't added the ribbed detailing but hopefully you can see the progress I'm talking about. I've also included and exterior of the build from the MU/TH/UR entrance from the bridge, leading to the computer's chamber or "womb" as Sir Ridley Scott liked to call it. Looks a little similar to the actual stage build. I plan to create a nice "shell" that will cover this exterior build which will resemble the exterior of he ship and give that much more stability to the diorama. Paint progress on the Alien from Alien: Isolation. A work in progress but I thought I'd share a couple fun pictures of the process half way through. The full shot was actually a mistake from low light but since the paint isn't finalized I thought it would be cool to share a full body shot of the assembled figure with that extra long tail smile emoticon I plan on creating a bendy tail eventually but for right now it's a static piece connected with a Revoltech joint. Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - ALIEN 79 - Nostromo 1:18 scale. Possibly my last bit of updates to the MU/TH/UR build. Waiting on some resin to cast the control panels to the entryway door then this project will be tabled and figure sculpting will commence! Will finish the control chair as well. I'll be needing to create a shell that will encompass the chamber along with the corridor leading to the entrance from the bridge. It will need to allow room for the fiber optics to set in. If it's ever to be put on display, it will be tricky. I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Nostromo Corridor Update - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Some of the first B deck corridor pieces - I think it's B Deck. It can get confusing sometimes. Where I am quite comfortable of my whereabouts on A, below that I can get lost. I know one thing...C deck is the basement...where the monster lives. Anyway, the detail is taken to a whole new level the deeper you go into the craft. I need to create some additional greeblie panel work while I go deeper. Paint progress on Jonesy the Cat - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Had to take a break painting the Alien as I began having dreams of a xenomorph hiding in my trash can waiting to bite my head off (it gets in my head LOL). My first paint up of the lone survivor of the doomed Nostromo crew (eventually). Placed him next to a penny to give him some scale. First time painting an animal sculpt at this scale...my first animal SCULPT for that matter Ha! Think the little guy turned out pretty good. May glue on some whiskers. My little creature shop -a portion of it anyway. I have three versions of the 79 Alien and a version from the Creative Assembly game -Alien: Isolation in the works. 1:18 scale. All parts are castings taken molds of the original sculpts. Made several to test articulation, stability etc. Need a little splash of paint I'd say.....once completed of course. The Beast - ALIEN 1979 - 1:18 scale. Completed my three aliens...why three? I don't know. I worked so hard on this guy to make only one would be criminal. The figure in the center is fully articulated using ball joints from existing store bought figures and Revoltech. The other two are articulated using wire and ball joint work. Very stable. The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.
Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders
and legs.
When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.
Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Nostromo Main Air Lock 1:18 scale update - as I begin building the ceiling to the air lock I have noticed it doesn't give way to much of the clear acrylic canopy I originally intended for the piece - so I will have to add the light sources as close to the original production piece as possible. 2 Nano LEDs on each side so far. Just plotting them at this point - more to come and will be the last item to be installed after the piece has been built and painted. #alien #mainairlock #nostromo

Some H.R. Giger inspired work in progress - Frame for the Derelict corridor, 1:18 scale - ALIEN 1979. Gotta build the frame before I hand sculpt the details. Completed the sculpt of the "control sticks" for each hand, "the interface" and detail along the back of the pilot's chair. I want to tackle the upper rear of the pilot chair before moving onto another project. Been a couple additional weeks than I planned to work on this piece but I'm "in the zone" so to speak and want to continue while not suffering a loss of interest. I'm doing this in my own time and not for a client so I have that luxury.
Crazy to think I look at this piece as becoming an "action figure accessory" or some part of a 1:18 scaled play set. It's where my mindset is...always has been since this ALIEN 79 project started. It just so happens that it's a sculpture study at the same time LOL!
I've taken care to be as accurate as possible to the Giger production version of the doomed pilot but I'm sure a few spots have emerged as "best interpretation" at this point. I'm not looking to be 100% spot on. I don't think anyone who has taken on this project has. I hope those of you who are die hard Space Jockey fans will be forgiving.
Nostromo Main Air Lock - 1:18 scale UPDATE. ALIEN (1979). Spent some time creating the interior wall racking using butyrate tubing. Took some time to get the hang of it and I may still want to go back and redo a couple because of irregularities but all in all they turned out pretty nice for it being my first time using the tube material. Next up for this project will be the finer detail to the interior walls as well as the ceiling build. I've attached some updated images of my progress. #alien #nostromo #airlock

Successfully cast the final panel to the rear wall of the Nostromo bridge. ALIEN - 1:18 scale. All three cast panels on display - lacking the connectors, sign panels and base connectors. Approx. 29" across. Working on having the first level floor panel of the Nostromo bridge laser cut. Next step will be moving up and out. Sculpt progress on Rick Deckard Blade Runner - 1:18 scale. Working detail into the coat. An alternate version will have the coat buttoned to the top and collar up. Will add a holster for his gun.
ALIEN - "The Beast" 1:18 scale. Busy sculpting a variant head to the creature - merely a different expression. I want to complete four versions : Closed, Partially Open, Open (with inner mouth exposed) and Strike (with inner mouth shooting forward). Frame is primarily complete, with some additional structural pieces to be added, I'm ready to begin detail...panel by panel, square by tiny square. Also need some sculpting details to the portal. Talk about a test of patience.....oh well, I made this bed so I might as well sleep in it! LOL! - I'm actually going to begin work on the chair first, then a few panels...the I'm back at working on figures...I got some new ideas I will be sharing shortly as well as returning to some other, unfinished pieces that require my attention. Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt made entirely from Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC
I said "entirely" because it's the first figure I have created so far in which I haven't used a frame of any kind to sculpt upon. Total FIXIT with a little weight to it - makes it feel expensive LOL! I need to do a scale shot to show how it scales to my 3.75" figures in the series.
Working on completing the lower abdomen of the creature, which will connect via a ball socket to the upper torso...that comes later in the casting phase. Right now, all the parts will be connected via wire or wax clay. Haven't completed the back section of the lower abdomen yet.
Next step after finishing the lower abdomen will be the upper arms and the hips. I plan on tooling the arms with traditional shoulder joints with the hips being connected via ball sockets. This can all change as the sculpt progresses.

Completed the sculpts to all three Nostromo EVAs - Dallas, Lambert and Kane. ALIEN 1:18 scale. Time to clean up and paint. The packs have been hollowed out for coin holders which will be used for the helmet LEDs to come later. Still working on Ripley's EVA suit as seen on the Narcissus - have an alternate plan for this sculpt that will be a cool accessory to my "Lucky Star" sculpt if all works out. #alien #nostromo #spacesuits #sith_fire30

I have multiple head sculpts made for the creature and several for the beast from Alien: Isolation. Many have made their opinions known about whether or not the skull should be seen through the front of the dome. In my next blog entry, I will elaborate my thoughts about when it should..and when it should not be shown and how it has influenced my choices when painting the head sculpts.
