A little tease of my progress....MUTHUR corridor/chamber - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 79. Late - gotta crash. More images to come. :)

Nostromo Bridge 1:18 scale update - LED work. Nothing finalized, just a test. I decided for this light box I will use two pico chip LEDs to distribute the light evenly. The semiotic symbols were printed on decal paper and applied to clear acrylic. #nostromo #alien #LED

Meant to get some completed sculpts of Jonesy the cat complete over the weekend. Unfortunately I only had time to build two frames for the little guy...one standing and one sitting. Crude but these will make great little frames to sculpt over Need to add a wire for the tail to the standing frame...more to come! #alien #nostromo #jones #jonesythecat

Sculpt progress on Rick Deckard Blade Runner - 1:18 scale. Working detail into the coat. An alternate version will have the coat buttoned to the top and collar up. Will add a holster for his gun.

Looks like I have a crew forming!.....ALIEN 1:18 scale. Just a test shot of the crew sculpts in progress. Getting close but have a handful of sculpts to go before the manifest is complete and the Nostromo can sail! smile emoticon #alien #nostromo #the8thpassenger #sith_fire30

Sculpt progress on Amanda Ripley - Alien: Isolation - 1:18 scale. Finished the lower torso and began building up parts of the upper torso, arms and neck. Not sculpting the breasts mind you...just a filler. Her accessories will include an incinerator unit (flamethrower), motion detector and satchel. #alienisolation #alien #creativassembly #amandaripley #ellenripley

Sculpt update on the Egg Morpher or Praetorian Xenomorph - 1:18 scale - Aliens: Defiance, Dark Horse Comics. Completed phase 1 of the head sculpt, next step will be making a mold, then sculpting the variations of the mouth...that's if the mold and castings come out! :) Began building the upper torso of the figure (update coming soon). Used AVes FIXIT to create the sculpt. More to come! #avesfixit #avesstudio #alien #aliens #xenomorph #Praetorian #sculpture #miniature #darkhorsecomics #defiance

Build/Paint progress on "The Beast" -Translucent concept variant - 1:18 scale. Building this little bugger is no picnic, it's the payoff that makes it worth it...not in the monetary sense (it's a personal project) but the satisfaction of creating something from nothing. Still have plenty to paint on this guy but may apply sparingly on some parts that are looking great translucent. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎translucence‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎concept‬ ‪#‎variant‬ ‪#‎neca‬

Usually the first attempt at a new alien dome would require at least one adjustment so that the dome "snaps" into place....This time though, success straight from the gate!!! This dome snaps perfectly onto the alien head and hugs the contours just underneath.

Images you see here are of both the master sculpt and initial cast with domes attached. I increase the tones in the images so you can see the shell of the clear dome.

More images to come as I continue with the inner jaw and tendons - am thrilled this step in the vac forming was the only step needed. :) #alien #aliencovenant #protomorph #xenomorph #vacuumforming #PETG #dome #sculpting #success

The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.

Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders

and legs.

When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

A little update on sculpt work as well as some scratch built parts to the Nostromo diorama - 1:18 scale - ALIEN (79). Here are the two corridor pieces for the compartments that lead in and out of the main galley. Needs some patch work and a few adjustments before having molds made (they seem out of proportion because of angle and depth of field). Also an updated image of the "Lucky Star" Ripley version in her "space knickers" alongside her EVA Suit. I have in mind a way to cast the suit partially (hollow), soften the cast so it will sag to resemble an empty suit which Ripley can slip into. Yep, I have plans May work, may not - can't hurt to try #alien #nostromo #ripley #luckystar #sith_fire30

Included to hilts which are built from existing parts, can be attached to chest using clear banding. Also included are to sabers with attached beams. Lightsabers do not light up.

The arena robes are from the Darth Maleval box set and was altered/reworked then painted to give a worn look. Hood is from a VOTC Darth Sideous, altered and repainted.

Figure was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and hand painted using Testors Polyscale and Floquil acrylics.

Build progress on the Autodoc Medical station - Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Completed the frame that supports the revolving bed - Two cylinders, one inside the other, made from sheet styrene. The bed mounts to the inner cylinder which glides across a fitted groove cut out from the outer cylinder. This will allow the bed to slide into the "MRI" chamber. When the bed is set out, a clear rod can be attached underneath to offer a touch more stability for display purposes. Next step is to build out the tower and finished detail to the bed. Ash and Kane are 1:18 scaled sculpts in progress. #alien #nostromo #autodoc #aliencovenant #ashisarobot #kane #diorama

The sleeping giant - Engineer in Sleep Chamber - Prometheus 1:18 scale. - So I took the cast of the Engineer I created earlier last week, and shaped it using a hot gun to give the body the appearance it was at rest. The head sculpt of the masked giant is complete and has been cast and attached to the body. Next step are the tubes leading from the chamber to the Engineer as well as the tubes leading from the exterior rear of the chamber. The tubes for the Engineer will be borrowed while the exterior tubes will be sculpted and cast in rubber. #Prometheus #sleepchamber #engineer

Sculpting week off to a great start! Lambert in flight vest - 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79. For the exception of the belt and some minor details, this sculpt is complete. Sculpted the vest last night using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Variants include Lamber in Nostromo T and Lambert in Nostromo Jacket (as seen near the end of the film). Working on some minor touch-ups to the beast tonight as well as Dallas and Kane upper box sculpts. #alien #lambert #nostromocrew #sith_fire30 #avesfixit

ALIEN 3 - Runner "Dog" Alien - 1:18 scale work in progress - Sculpted more of the teeth, shaprened the canines and added detail to the inside of the mandable. Currently working on the inner jaw. Will have two options, both attached using a magnet - retracted and extended (strike). Also while I was at it, sculpted a closed mouth version of the beastie Also worked on the longer, lower torso. The challenge will be how to make the legs work in both an upright and prone position.

Build update on the AutoDoc medical station - Nostromo - ALIEN 79. Working on the overhead section of the med tower - Figuring the light portal locations along with the small compartments tucked just underneath. I scrapped the initial overhead as it was too wide - it should be roughly the same width as the medical bed (perhaps a little wider). Hope to get the overhead done this week, see Covenant and begin new sculpts next week. :) ...so much more to come

Several work in progress image of the Nostromo Airlock Vestibule chamber - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 1979. After creating the vectors, I received several cut/etched parts needed to begin building the vestibule including the floor and two entrances. Next step is detailing of the pieces, molding/casting along with creating the walls that will bring the room together. At this point nothing has been measured so the pieces are spread apart more than they should. #alien #nostromo #airlock #sith_fire30 #daytonallen

Completed cast prototype of "The Beast" - 1:18 scale, ALIEN (1979). Most of the figure you see here is put together by wired joints. I do have ball joints working in the shoulders, head, wrists and torso but the rest are being held together by bendable wire. Sufficient to give me a stable figure to look at and make any additional adjustments before creating the final painted version with full articulation. The tail is a static casting bent into shape before curing completely. The final version will be a bendy tail. I have several different head sculpts to go along with this custom piece - now that the body is very close to being finished, I can get back to concentration of the head sculpts and the rest of the crew. This little alien has come a long way #alien #xenomorph

The Beast - ALIEN 1979 - 1:18 scale. Some of the final images you will see of the unpainted beast before being painted. Worked on expanding the tail....just because. I like the longer tail as an alternate. #alien #bigchap #nostromo #sith_fire30

Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien:Covenant

Tabled for a few weeks while I got started on a few others projects but back at it over the weekend focusing on the mouth. I have mentioned that I plan to do variants of this head sculpt (open mouth, closed, concept etc) and decided it would be easier to build the variants if I was to sculpt the open mouth first than to try to do it vice-versa.

Sculpt is based on concept art by Colvin Shulver. Find his work on ArtStation. www.artstation.com/artwork/bxJYo as well as the build work from Odd Studio

First was to drill and clear out a cavity for the mouth's opening, then build up the mandible, allow to cure, then the tongue and upper jaw.

Using Aves FIXIT for the build (Aves Studio LLC). Added a dime to give a sense of scale for the piece. The teeth are still being refined. I hope to have the head sculpted and reduce the ear openings a bit on my next go. Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection. 1:18 scale, work in progress. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.

Finished detailing the jaw, which is a separate piece as you may be able to see in the new images. Sculpting the neck of the beast as well. At this point I am going to make whatever final revisions needed and go forward with making a mold of the head and the jaw. After a couple casts are made, I can make variants featuring the creatures different expressions, mouth open and a sculpt of the tongue.

At this point the neck will not have any articulation. If I can figure out a way to create a ball socket which the head and neck can rotate on possibly?...The only way I could see it working without jeopardizing the sculpt would be if a rubber sheath was cast for the neck and wrapped around a set of articulated joints. It's still early on so not worried about it. The solution will come.

Paint progress on The Beast: Airshaft - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale.

I know it's been awhile - believe me. Nobody is more happy than I to get back to some figure work. It's been a crazy few weeks but I've finally found some time to invest in a piece I started a few years back.

A recap...This is a static posed figure...well, more semi-static. There's articulation in the neck, shoulders, elbows and wrists. The dome is vacuum formed from PETG plastics that can snap on and off the length of the cranium. The figure can fit in the palm of your hand to give you an idea of scale. I have this piece and the "crab walker" which are variants from my original fully articulated sculpt of the Giger beast.

I'd like to try one, possibly two more static posed versions of the creature - the "box alien" as seen in the illustrated adaptation of the film and possibly a hanging version as seen before Brett's demise in the landing bay.

Much of what you see is stylized, I get it - reason?...Because at the moment, most of the figure has been painted with a flat back coat...and visually that's boring. Would have to blow it out with a strobe to get that detail and for right now I don't think it's necessary,

Only the head and arms have been detailed but not complete. Just had some fun with the camera/mood effects this time around. More to come! I have time to work on this and the "crab walker" for a bit this weekend! YAY! #alien #alien79project #giger #airshaft #nostromo #painting #acrylics

A scratchbuild of the Nostromo pilot chair frame - inspired by the conceptual designs of Ron Cobb and the production work seen in the 1979 motion picture ALIEN. 1:18 scale. The finished frame will be molded then cast several times, adding a variance of worn upholstery and detailing to each using aves FIXIT. The chairs railing, which allows the pilot to move forward to engange the control panels and back to secure for launches and landings, will be created seperately and mount on metal rods. The safety belts will be added later.

Some early work on one of the last alternate heads I am doing for the original '79' ALIEN - The Beast. This one will show the inner jaw just piering through the mouth - inspired by the work of Yokihisho Sano. I hope my little 1:18 version will look half as good when complete.

Nostromo Corridor Update - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Some of the first B deck corridor pieces - I think it's B Deck. It can get confusing sometimes. Where I am quite comfortable of my whereabouts on A, below that I can get lost. I know one thing...C deck is the basement...where the monster lives. Anyway, the detail is taken to a whole new level the deeper you go into the craft. I need to create some additional greeblie panel work while I go deeper. Nostromo Engineering corridor - ALIEN 1:18 scale. Wall deco - control stations within the corridors of the lower levels. Tthe film designers used the back of large television sets, glued them to the walls and gave them some greeblie work. paint and grime. The 1:18 scaled replica I built is out of sheet styrene. I plan to mold./cast the piece as is and add various greeblie work making each piece slightly different to one another offering interesting variations in the chaos of the lower decks. I can also modify the castings to make deco for Decks A ans B as well...although I will have to build additional pieces with more distinct variations. #alien #nostromo #engineering #corridors #sith_fire30

Build update to the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" to the Nostromo crew - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale scratch build. Frame is primarily complete, with some additional structural pieces to be added, I'm ready to begin detail...panel by panel, square by tiny square. Also need some sculpting details to the portal. Talk about a test of patience.....oh well, I made this bed so I might as well sleep in it! LOL! - I'm actually going to begin work on the chair first, then a few panels...the I'm back at working on figures...I got some new ideas I will be sharing shortly as well as returning to some other, unfinished pieces that require my attention.
