That shadow my likeness that goes to and fro seeking a livelihood,
chattering, chaffering,
How often I find myself standing and looking at it where it flits,
How often I question and doubt whether that is really me....
The original of this image had a lot more of the street in it. When I looked closer though, I saw how the sun behind the man cast a shadow on the wall which reminded me vaguely of Zorro's hat. That together with the Mexican Restaurant made a nice match--well I thought so anyway.

Shadows and light have fascinated me for as long as I can remember, even as a child. So it isn't surprising that Paul Strand's photography excites and exhilarates me! Strand was one of the defining masters of early American modernist photography. He was also influenced by Edward Weston and Alfred Stieglitz.
I could have chosen many of my recent photos for this exercise on shadow and light, but I chose this one because it is different and I like the surreal feeling it has.
This was taken on an outside terrace. When I looked up, I could see big slabs of plain concrete above my head, but what really grabbed me were the shadows from the out of sight, striped canvas awning creating shadow stripes on the concrete as if they had been painted there. I could have cropped this, but just loved the reflection of the inside lights reflected on the big glass front - like other-worldly dots of energy seemingly floating in the sky!
This image empowers me and yet also allows me to dream! Leaving it in colour, gives a certain lightness to it, thanks to the space of light blue sky
A very speedy early morning visit to Anglet's Sunday market due to the very warm weather. The cool shadows were very popular yesterday.
That's me. Well, actually it's my shadow and the shadow of my husband. I snapped this little number yesterday evening. I love shadows don't you?
Shadow Mountain Lake is a reservoir in Grand County, Colorado, near the headwaters of the Colorado River. Shadow Mountain Lake is created by Shadow Mountain Dam. The lake forms a continuous body of water with Grand Lake, the largest natural lake in Colorado; they are separated by gates.
Shadow Mountain Lake is part of Arapaho National Recreation Area.
The creation of Shadow Mountain Lake was authorized by the Colorado-Big Thompson bill, passed in 1937, which also created the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. Water from the Grand Lake-Shadow Mountain Lake body is diverted through the Alva B. Adams tunnel, at the eastern edge of Grand Lake, into the Big Thompson River on the east side of the Continental Divide. Storage began in 1947.

Native American guy accosted me for a hand-out. When I refused his buddy reeking of alcohol gave me a hug against my will, insisting that he loved me and will always love me. I am afraid he believed I really needed a hug. He was right.

Photographed at the end of the afternoon shooting 'Street Fashion' Pro Bono job for Salvos Stores. Great shoot, looking forward to showing the results. Loves this shadow shot I grabbed late in the day, completely unrelated to the job other than that was why I was there!

I posted a shot of this one a few years ago, questioning whether it qualified as an arch if the rock span wasn't at all archy. That day, even with the rock span being as straight as Anita Bryant, the shadow formed a fine arch.

Summer 2018 3rd leg: We'd planned a few weeks in southern Colorado, then wised up and went to Utah instead.
June 17: Starting at Chimney Rock, we hiked down Lower Spring Canyon. A repeat for us, but it was totally worth doing again and we made it even further than we had last time.
