7DOS - Week 23: Light - Shadowy Friday

My little Mallorca gecko in the afternoon sun. I love the shadow effect.

at the markets this morning the sun was shining through glass at one stall and making beautiful patterns. I just love it when unexpected photo opportunities pop up like that

It was flooding through central Texas, and these kids took the opportunity to do a little swimming.

It would have had the feather type thing, but I didn't have a tripod or an extra hand to hold the camera....

Afternoon shadows

A couple minutes of setup can get you a heart-like shadow from a ring placed between the pages of a book. Saw someone do this while browsing through flickr, wanted to see how easy it would be to do myself.

the shadows make the staircase look more interesting than it really is :P

At first glance this looks out of focus, but if you pay attention to the bricks and sidewalk instead of the shadow you will see that it's focused correctly. I just liked how the two different angles of light caused a doubling of the shadow and gave the shadows a 3D look.

I was fascinated by the shadows these little water skimmer bugs left on the rocks below. As best as I can figure, they bend the surface of the water enough to cause these little dark spots surrounded by brighter spots. Light refraction for the win!

Had a lot of fun at Brickvention 2025 last weekend.

And Shadow of Gotham, the MOC I took along, recieved an awesome response.

Thankyou to everyone who was part of the event.

Theres a ton of detail, and easter-eggs, to be found in the wing. It has been a fun challenge working in black.

And next step? Well, I dont wanna spoil the surprise, but there is more to come.
