Sometimes the shadow of your camera and tripod gets in the way and you have to improvise.

Shadows - Horizontal shadows projected on a young man's face

Compositionally Challenged Week 9 Shadows. The shadow makes it easier to see the details of the pebbles.

First time checking out the shadow of a Mountain Lion chasing its prey on the Superstition Mountains. The powered paraglider was flying the sky from a distance, then abruptly changed course for some sweet framing beside the moon and scene. I scrambled off the tripod for the shot and my metering and mind went mad. Thankfully RAW had a little bit of breathing room for recovery in post. Good times after a long week.

This is Shadow one of the many street dogs of Guatemala. Shadow was lucky enough to be taken in by the owner of Utopia Eco Hotel along with a few other stray dogs and lives a happy life on the grounds of the hotel where his only concerns are deciding which traveller he will convince to pet and fall in love with him.

ODC - Long Shadow

You don't need sunlight to create a long shadow you could use the streetlight and the farther you are from the light the longer the shadow gets but in my case i used flashlight to create my long shadow upward to make my figurine a massive size! To create this massive size the closer your light to the subject the bigger your shadow gets.

Shadow is a colour as light is, but less brilliant; light and shadow are only the relation of two tones.

'Shadows and Light...' On Black

Wickham Bishops, Essex, England - 18th May, 2007

One of my favourite shots from today's visit to the city.

Shadow of walker on a fence in the setting sun

Playful shadows dance across the canyon near Spider Rock. Spider Rock is a sandstone spire that rises 800 feet (240 m) from the canyon floor at the junction of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Canyon.

While in Chinle we made several visits to Canyon De Chelly (pronounced 'Shay'). This was an amazing awe-inspiring place. The canyon has been the home of different civilizations for thousands of years. The first to settle here were the Puebloans nearly 4,000 years ago. Eventually the Hopi tribe came along, and now is home to about 40 Navajo families.

This was by far the highlight of our trip. My absolute favorite spot that I long to go back to. You can sit on the canyons edge, watch the sunset cast playful moving shadows across the cliffs, and experience absolute silence.

14/365 (4,364)

I'd just sat down to lunch, when I noticed the shadow cast by the lamp. I ran up stairs, grabbed a camera, ran back down, and already half the shadow had gone. But it'll do.

And for the 365 treasure hunt, number 45 Masonry.

The Shadow High girls up close. I love the RH line for their many, many details that I can't find in $200 range dolls. But this Shadow High release has simply blown me away. I just have no words. So cool, yet so sophisticated. Seeing what comes with these girls and the care that went into them (including beautiful, distinct manicured nails for each one in grayscale), I find myself questioning the worth of every other doll in my collection.

Shanelle, who I did not plan to buy at first, is my favorite of the trio. She is just ethereal. Super hard to photograph, but stunning from head to toe. That second dress is incredible.

Heather was my first pick from this line and she does not disappoint. I did redo her hair, it was messy out of box. And I flipped the hair extension things. Her crocodile print dress and pants are something else. As is her jacket (not shown here).

Natasha is gorgeous. The second outfit is just dreamy. That faux fur coat with its beaded stripes? I shudder to think how much other companies would charge for that, LOL.

Super happy with these girls. Thank you, MGA!

Shadow spends a lot of time outdoors. I think he loves his new life as a house cat, but he loves hunting and just being outside. When my aunt and uncle were there he was a little nervous and was sometimes difficult to get him to come inside, but sooner or later he always came back. I didn't see a lot of Shadow while I was there, but I did see him a few times.

Shadow, the older of my 2 Westies, when she was four.

Shadows facing two different ways. University Avenue & King Street West intersection, Toronto, Canada.

The sun's reflection off the skyscraper is so strong it creates shadows going the wrong way. The shadows should be going away from the camera (as seen on the left). Standing at the right spot, you will get shadows facing both front and back. Letting the sunshine in - any which way.
