Shot setup for shell.

Three strobes. One on camera DIY ring flash adapter at 1/4 as a fill. Adapter eats about 3-4 stops. So its actually about 1/16-1/32. Camera left gridded strobe as key light at 1/8. Under the shell with grid at full power for inner glow effect.

Strobist setup for day 27 of my 365

James Wilde prepares his presentation in front of an audience of family, friends and others at Outdoor Provision Company July 29.

This is my setup in the garage for now..

Today I rented a room in my local community centre and spent the day taking shots of some of my friends and some of their kids. It will take me literally months to do all the processing but I will post a few of the good ones over the next few weeks and months...

Setup

2x Elinchrom D-Lite 4 with 60cm soft boxes

1x Speedlight 580EX with 100cm brolly

Camera sync cord triggers the Speedlight which remotely triggers the two D-Lites. I have a cheapo wireless trigger on order to remove the need for the cord!

Stand was £50 from eBay

Paper was £30 from Warehouse Express

The mess from the kids was free :-)

Strobist: Hensel strobe with media softbox above and behind camera (had to watch out for reflections in the picture frames). Hensel strobe with 9" reflector and grid camera right. SB800 with 5" snoot for hairlight. SB800 set to wide behind the couch for backlight.

Mal wieder auf den neuesten Stand bringen.

Stöckchen habe ich nicht dafür bekommen.

Set up used for the Hay Bale. Super simple setup. Photosel 10" Reflector (metal) is the modifier, very efficient with a 65 degree spread to combat sun in HSS. Strobe is a Rovelight 600B in HSS mode around 1/8 to 1/4 power at far distances, 10~12 feet easily. Yongnuo YN622 transceiver carries the HSS signal from my camera to the light. Camera is 5D classic and various lenses (you can see in EXIF).

Setup for THIS

Setup shot #1 - shutter speed at 1/160 overpowered the lights in my room - was surprised!

Setup for this shot. I used the softbox rather than one of my umbrellas, because I wanted super soft wrap around light on my fingers, and less light spillage into the room. The fairly low power of 1/64 was due to the fact I had the lens wide open at 1.4.

This is my setup on how to make the image of the water droplet frozen in the air.

2 60-watts lamp firing on a white foam care material, a frying pan with water in it, a small tripod, a dropper, and a camera with a built-in flash

The Setup:

My Canon 60D on tripod.

Canon 60mm f2.8 EFS macro.

Canon Speedlight 430 EX II.

Small plastic bag filled with water with a hole punched in it, suspended above a bowl of water.

Sheets of red paper.

Patience.

Luck.

Strobist setup shot. All lights fired via Canon's ST-E2.

Xbox 360 acts as a media center extender. Display is a 42" Sony 720p 3LCD RPTV. Harmony Xbox 360 remote control controls all components. Denon DVD Player. Old Xbox. Yamaha receiver connects everything to Gallo Accoustics 5.1 sound system. Ikea corner TV stand rotates inside builtin cabinets to give access to component connections.

Quickie home studio setup in my home office / home datacenter. Two Sunpak 522s fired into umbrellas aimed at a black velvet backdrop draped over my workstation computer desk.

setup for this shot.

FYI..I forgot to mention in the setup shot, there was a sheet of Black Bristol Board...the walls in this guest bathroom is blue so I didn't want all that blue showing.
