Super basic setup. SB-600 fired by CLS with cardboard snoot on the right (trying to control the spill on the black card paper background). The "reflector" on the left is a white bed sheet stretched over a frame made of two wire coat hangers bent and fixed into the shape of a rectangle. Works pretty well for shooting through and bouncing off.

Experiment of a lighting setup.
Sb 28 linked via pc cord and sb800 and sb900 triggered via SU4 Mode.
A photo of the photo shoot showing how little is sometimes necessary to take an interesting photo.
Here is the finished shot.

Initial setup from a molecular dynamics simulation of bacterial toxin alpha hemolysin embedded in a lipid membrane. Alpha hemolysin is toxin secreted by Staphylococcus aureus and it can cause lysis (breakdown) of red blood cells. Alpha hemolysin and its modfications have also been suggested to be useful in developing nanosensors, in drug delivery and even in DNA sequencing. We have studied how water interacts with the alpha hemolysin pore and how the behavior of water and small molecules can be controlled inside the pore using different driving forces.
Note: MD simulations of pore containing system (membrane proteins and nanotubes) require special attention on the simulation protocol. See References

Quick and dirty table-top setup in my kitchen. One SB-800 at 28mm, 1/128 power with gridcloth (to take the edge off) on a stand directly over the car, and 1 SB-800 at 1/32 firing through a CTB gel on to a piece of white foamcore. Both were on slave mode, triggered by the on-cam built-in flash. White CVS drawing paper served as a floor and bounced a little light back around the sides of the car. Incidentally, both flashes were on SU-4 (slave) mode at this point as either my D70's manual commander mode quit or the flashes quit listening to it...

After a relaxing evening climbing Mt. Takao, the descent shared this beautiful subject. I would have missed it, except for two young Japanese photogs who took a brief moment to photograph this little wonder. I spent at least 30 minutes getting the lighting the way I wanted to. I used one SB and a headlamp with small piece of paper as a reflector. It was fun setting up a mini studio on top of a log.

My new setup (with my old desktop monitor). ABS Laptop Mayhem Cobra, a 2.2 ghz, 2gb ram, ATI Radeon 2600 HD 512mb video card portable beast; which suits me well.
Also managed to pick up the new Wacom Tablet Special Edition Intuos 3 9x12, which is already my new best friend. I love this effin' tool! Additional Grip pen, different shape nibs, and other neat goodies.
Also shown but not new are my 320gb external hard disk drive from Western Digital. My Acer 19" LCD Monitor from my temporarily retired desktop (at least until I can put some more money into it, heh).
My setup brings all the boys to the yard, and they're like.. it's better than yours!
Woop woop.

Setup for SAJC Rapture 2010, Dance Full Dress Rehearsal shoot. Thanks for Delise & Jon for lending some of their gear!
Strobist info: One bare flash, behind camera, bounced off of the ceiling. The jar is sitting on top of a shiny granite tile that I got at Home Depot, and the background is a piece of black craft foam. The carboard 'roof' is actually a gobo to prevent the flash from lighting the background. A minimal amount of post-processing was used to clean up the background a bit and increase the intensity of the lemon colors.
Black wool outdoor base layer on top of 5-litre plastic bottle. Flower placed on top of higher section created, with leaves and stem behind, falling to the ground level, so that stem and leaves recede even further from the plane of focus.
Arca Cube GP tripod head makes this kind of shot so much easier to set up, but still have to fiddle with tripod legs to ensure correct working distance for the required magnification/bellows extension.
