In the heat of the rut, the bull bison becomes a force of nature. He paws at the earth, sending dust swirling into the air, a signal of power and determination. Each strike of his hoof isn’t random—it’s a message to rivals and a display to nearby cows.
With his head lowered, he bellows, the sound echoing across the valley like thunder. That open mouth isn’t just for show—it’s a primal call, both a warning and an announcement: I am here. I am ready. I am strong.

Minsmere's Red Deer rut is something to see every year but getting this close was a bit special. I was treated to the Minsmere's Red Deer Rut Safari and will be something i never forget...Huge thankyou to John & Marion and also Joe our RSPB driver, his knowledge was exceptional and putting us in the right place at the right time was just perfect.
Thankyou everyone involved, an experience i will treasure.

The rut is over and the bucks' necks not as swollen. They don't feed a lot during the rut and are making up for lost time now. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
I've looked forward to the rut for awhile and trying to make the most of it. I love this particular location because of the interesting light. As soon as some leaves are off the trees, we will move a little bit to a place that has absolutely no sunlight now, but the bucks love it because they are hidden. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
Great to see fifty year old Rutter and McGuinness still competing at the highest level. Superstock practice, North West 200, 2022.
ATV tracks made a mess of the turf near the power lines by the Riverdale forest. The blue hue of the meltwater created by the Cokin Varicolor B Y filter.
Hundreds of wagon trains passed though this area (mostly from 1820 to 1860) on the way to Oregon. Amazing that they could find the same place over and over again to create such ruts in the ground.
This buck is following a doe in the Oklahoma Cross Timbers. Followed them, lost them and picked them up again several times. Bucks will chase a doe until they are exhausted and then breed them. A lot of folks view nature through the lens of anthropomorshism. I try to just observe nature and not judge it based on my human values. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - The best kind of evening is when scattered clouds light up at sunset, then clear out by the time the stars appear. That's what happened at this overlook south of Sheridan.
n unspoilt beauty spot easily reached from the market town of Appleby, with an impressive waterfall, ford, millwheel and natural wildlife..One of the most scenic (and easily accessible) of all Cumbrian waterfalls, Rutter Force is a horseshoe-shaped waterfall on Hoff Beck, near Appleby-in-Westmorland, in the beautiful Eden Valley.
I went back to the area where I saw the big 6pt for lunch. All I saw there were two fawns. The wind and cover were right for an approach to a pine thicket so I hoofed it over there for a look. I glassed a dark racked 10pt with a doe so I tried to slip in behind them undetected. This guy stepped into a patch of sunlight and blocked my approach.
I know I know, another stag shot! I still have a couple more up my sleeve but will try to intersperse them with shots of other critters to prevent complete boredom!
Richmond Park was a little quieter this week as the rut seems to be drawing to a close. I feel for the stags, they must be exhausted by now!
