The Winchester & Western's original line between Gore and Winchester was nothing if not rustic. Built as a narrow gauge line, it was never really improved much after converting to standard gauge. The line's minimal grading and sharp curves mostly just meandered along the natural topography of the land without much fighting against it. In this scene, the loaded "Sand Man" creeps along the contours of the small height of land between the Back Creek and Hogue Creek watersheds on its way to Winchester. Evidence of repairs from a recent derailment and some home built ingenuity can be seen in the foreground.
Have seen this hotel sign on every trip I have made to this part of California and decided to make a conscious effort to stop and photograph it this time around! Just love the lightning on this sign on CA395 just south of Owens Lake at Olancha.
This is my thermostat in my 100 year old house at the worst of it yesterday ... my air conditioner just can't keep up with the temperatures lately. I turn it up to the best temp it reaches to give it a rest. Supposed to be the last day (God please) of this heat wave here.
OBTW, the thermostat was soooooo dirty I had to texturize my stupid shot. This was a Rustic Grunge texture ... that's me of late ... rustic and grungy.
startled by a fly-by sparrowhawk, it popped on this branch for a few minutes, allowing me to grab a few frames...Mie prefecture, Japan
These are called Tanjore Dolls, actually a Roly-Poly toys which are hand made in the country side place called Tanjore in Southern India. These doll's base is made of coconut shells and the body is made of clay. Then it is painted to give its due finish.
Thank you for visiting my page.
A first-winter male Rustic Bunting at Thursley Common - Surrey. A rarity in Britain, this bird has been wintering on Thursley Common for several weeks along with several other members of its genus; mainly Reed Buntings but including an equally rare Little Bunting!
A very skulking bird to photograph as it kept hidden for most of the time only emerging for a short period, although the lighting conditions hardly helped!
Rustic Bandra
is gradually becoming
a concrete jungle
change of scene
once agriculture
paddy fields now
lack of green
once mangoes
jackfruit jambul trees
now sadly none can be
seen ...vanishing East Indian
dreams ...is what I mean
garbage dumps open drains
even God can't keep Bandra
clean ...gone are their old attire
now it is body fit tshirts hugging
cut jeans ...so much pain pathos
beneath the layer of sheen ..

This photograph was taken on a very hot afternoon last October in the village of Lofou in the Troodos Mountains of Cyprus. The street caught my attention as it was quiet and I like the rustic charm it exudes.
Winter has tightened its grip in the last few days and I need a reminder that we are on our way to better weather - so thought this photograph was appropriate! In the Northern Hemisphere we are at least on the downward slope to warmer times as nature starts to wake up from its winter sleep. Have visited a couple of National Trust properties recently where bulbs are already pushing up through the ground!

Grace is forgiving someone even when they don’t ask for it or deserve it. It releases you from the burden of carrying a chain of anger around your neck because carrying that heavy load does more damage to you than it does the person your angry with. It affects you physically and emotionally.

I tried a new method of making biscotti. Actually it may be the old, traditional method. I discovered it when I watched a little elderly Italian lady named Nonna Pia.. so I wanted to try it. I love the lovely rustic look of it!! It is not as hard and difficult to bite into either.... yep... my new method is probably the ancient tried and true method! Thanks Nonna Pia..!
Looking Close... on Friday!
