Las chiviteras de Torregamones son un monumento a la vida pastoril, a una vida pastoril que hace tiempo –no tanto- pasó a mejor vida.
Son una lección de sencillez, austeridad y sabiduría que vale mucho más que su peso en oro.
En función del lugar de pastoreo, no siempre era posible regresar con el rebaño por las noches y era común que, sobre todo en el verano, los pastores de cabras, de vacas o de ovejas, pasaran los días y las noches juntos, aunque no revueltos.
Por eso abundaban en el paisaje las majadas, tenadas, los corrales, los chozos y, en Los Arribes zamoranos, las chiviteras, unas diminutas cabañas en las que el cabrero encerraba a los chivos recién paridos para ponerlos a salvo de zorros, lobos y demás depredadores de los campos sayagueses.
Las chiviteras fueron en el pasado una construcción rústica tan habitual en Los Arribes como lo eran los rebaños de cabras que tenían en el paisaje de monte bajo, arribanzos y peñascales un lugar que ni pintado. De tal para cual, vamos.
Y aunque aún sobreviven algunas otras en los alrededores de varios pueblos, el conjunto de chiviteras de Torregamones es el que mejor se conserva.

Il est arrivé le 29 mars, suivie par la femelle une semaine après.
Depuis une semaine un deuxième couple s'est introduit pour la premiere fois, ça fait juste avec la lucarne. L'entente est bonne, il y a 4 nids depuis les 25 ans que j'ai des hirondelles dans le garage!

A second couple arrived one week ago, I have never had two couples because of the little window but they managed it. There are four nests....we will see when the little ones will fly away!

This plant is considered to be over 300 million years old, making it comparatively one of the oldest forms of plant life in the world.
