Ironically the occupier of The (former) Bank Of Ireland Building in Belfast saw me coming, ducked inside, covered his face and then re-appeared to pose for the shot - Which is more than most of the faceless banking decision makers, who occupy the current bank buildings, are willing to do for the customers that they are supposed to value so much.
Rant Ends !!!

London, ON
Just a random photo. Nothing special but I wanted to put it up.
This was taken right after a series of bank robberies in London. This is how it ended. The guy crashed into someone on Waterloo. I just happened to be walking downtown at the time and had my camera. I was running late so I couldn't get closer and take a photo, so this is all I got. If you look close, the most left person of the group on the right of the image is none other than Craig Glover of the Free Press. He was one of my professors at Fanshawe last year.
Here's a photo of a photo I picked up from an artist at the Portabello Rd. markets in London.
I don't know where this is shot, exactly, but I've been told that the apartments in the background were once ahead of their time in terms of layout and ergonomics. (They look rather hideous to me...)

This man had been arrested for robbery. When he saw that a photographer was present he decided to show me where he had hidden the money. When I brought it to the attention of the deputys, they quickly removed the money from his mouth.

As we biked up to this village these two boys ran over and held bamboo rods across the path. They wouldn't say anything, but wouldn't let us continue. We had decided to just turn around, when their mom came out. She offered us some pillowcases and some blankets, but we declined. After that - and some oohing at our rented mountain bikes - we continued through the village.

Crystal Lake police are investigating a jewelry store robbery where an employee was hit in the face by the suspect on Saturday.
At around 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, the Crystal Lake Police Department responded to Dalzell Jewelers at 41 North Williams Street in Crystal Lake for a report of a robbery.
Authorities said that a black male had entered the store and asked to see specific jewelry. While being shown the jewelry, the suspect took two trays of diamond jewelry and fled from the business.
While fleeing from the business and employees, the suspect struck one of the employees with his hand who tried to stop him. The employee refused medical attention at the scene. No weapons were displayed or implied during the robbery. An accurate price of the stolen jewelry is not yet available, police said.
The black male suspect was described as being in his 20’s with a medium build, approximately 6’1″ tall, wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering on it believed to be “Hoops”, gray sweatpants, and white athletic shoes. The suspect got into a getaway vehicle with a male black driver.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-762-7867.
The robbery is still under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The Postcard
A St. Albans Series postcard bearing an image that is a real photograph. The card was posted in Brighton using a 2½d. stamp on Saturday the 17th. August 1963. It was sent to:
Mr. R. N. Anderson,
351, Fulbridge Road,
Paston,
Peterborough.
The message on the divided back of the card was as follows:
"Friday, 16. August 1963.
Many thanks for letter.
Hope you continue to
make good progress,
and that your back is
healing well.
We have just heard from
Richard, Shirley, Joanne
and Ian. It is still very hot
in Pittsburgh, but Shirley
says the hotter it gets,
the more energy the
children seem to have.
All best wishes & love
from all in Brighton.
Jean."
Cowdray Castle
Cowdray Castle — officially known as Cowdray Ruins — is one of England's most important early Tudor palaces. Located in Midhurst, West Sussex, it was a grand mansion visited by King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I before being tragically destroyed by a devastating fire in September 1793.
Today, the majestic ruins are managed by the Cowdray Heritage Trust.
The ruins are currently closed for general daily visits inside the walls to protect the structure. However you can still walk right up to the protective fencing via a public footpath to marvel at the impressive architecture.
The Trust hosts scheduled Heritage Events throughout the year, offering guided family entertainment and a peek into Tudor history.
Café Hours: The on-site café at the River Ground Stables serves hot drinks and refreshments on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

The Flying Bathtub
So what else happened on the day that the card was written?
Well, on Friday the 16th. August 1963, test pilot Milton Orville Thompson made the first flight of the NASA M2-F1, a wingless lifting body glider nicknamed the "flying bathtub".
The lifting body design, which permitted a spacecraft to descend horizontally through the atmosphere, was put into service through the U.S. Space Shuttle.

Marcos Pérez Jiménez
Also on that day, former President of Venezuela Marcos Pérez Jiménez was extradited from the United States back to Venezuela, eight months after his arrest and confinement in the Dade County Jail in Miami.
Pérez Jimenez had been dictator from 1952 to 1958, then fled to the U.S., where he lived in luxury until being jailed in Miami on the 12th. December 1962.
The Great Train Robbery
Also on the 16th. August 1963, two people walking in Dorking Woods discovered a briefcase, a holdall and a camel-skin bag, all containing money.
The evidence led to the arrest of Brian Field, a member of the gang who had carried out the Great Train Robbery a few days earlier.
The discovery raised the total amount of money recovered to £141,000 ($394,800).
The Great Train Robbery, August 1963: This is the bridge where robbers fixed the light that stopped the train that carried the cash that lured the gang that robbed The Royal Mail ... of $$millions.
