On Saturday morning I arrived early at Thickson's Woods in Whitby, Ontario in search of a Cerulean Warbler that was reported the day earlier. As I was entering the park I saw this male Baltimore Oriole robbing Spidey's food store in broad daylight. Interestingly someone setup half of an orange for the Orioles. This one seemed to ignore the orange and went for some protein diet. I didn't think that the Spidey stuck around for a confrontation that he knew couldn't win. By the way, no luck with the Cerulean, it left overnight to continue with his northward migration.

In the beginning of August 2021 we went to Goldfield Nevada, an old historic mining/ghost town in the Mojave Desert, Southwest United States of America, for Goldfield days. Had a great time walking around taking photos of the town and its great people. There was a parade, bank robbery with cowboys, chili cook off, and a lot of cool and interesting people walking around. Was like going back in time.

they took so much of me.
I have never been beaten, and at the moment I am not depressed or unhappy with my life in any way except the fact that I put off summer reading until the very last day. Just so you know.
I never expected to have this turn out the way it did, I really hope that I don't offend or hurt anyone. I'm sorry in advance if I do. Please be kind.

this young eagle made a living chasing the young osprey fledglings and stealing their catch. this adult had no problem keeping his catch
So the night we were robbed the cops apprehended a car in Rainier Valley full of gang bangers smoking pot. One of them was on parole which gave the police the authority to search him. They found he had Robin’s drivers license and a couple of her credit cards and they booked him in jail. When they looked through his phone they found a video he had accidentally recorded while robbing our house. You can hear several others in our house with him. They were gang bangers and the cops think they rode the bus up to my neighborhood looking for places to rob and they must have seen us leave the house. There was probably a lookout outside the house ready to call in case we came back, and this is why he was holding his phone the whole time. His shoes show in the video for a split second and they are the same shoes he was wearing when arrested. This should hopefully be enough evidence to place him at the scene of the crime. He will be prosecuted soon for residential burglary and possession of stolen property. We haven’t heard any word about his accomplices and we haven’t recovered any of our possessions.
Insurance covered some of the losses but we’re out a couple grand. I’ve spent the last month dealing with the aftermath. Lots and lots of paperwork and other unpleasantries. I’ve been bidding for used gear on ebay and have finally replaced some of my camera equipment. We went up to the Skagit valley on Friday and I was able to take some pictures for the first time since the robbery.
I want to thank everyone for their kind words and generous offers of support. Sorry I haven’t been able to respond to everyone, but I haven’t been on Flickr. I’ve had too much other crap to deal with, and I had to get some gear for an upcoming trip to the Southwest we had booked before we were robbed.
Wow, this is the only picture I've had on Explore all year. I think I was banned there for a while.
fashion ...
If you are planning a bank robbery, don't just take any mask - far too conspicuous - but do it in style, look for a sophisticated bank and take a Pierre Cardin hat ...

This photo is a result of a day trip I took to historic "Tunnel 13" at the Siskiyou Summit about 13 miles south of Ashland, Oregon. We started walking through the long tunnel then had second thoughts only to have this train come through moments after we exited the tunnel. Tunnel 13 has a very interesting history as the site of the "Last Great Train Robbery".

With the last of the daylight ebbing away across the snowfields of Buckinghamshire, GBRf's 66758 "The Pavior" approaches the site of the Great Train Robbery near Mentmore. Timed at 3.36pm, about 15 minutes before sunset, the train is 4Z08, 11:29 Felixstowe - Birch Coppice.
next to my bed is this beautiful cabinet that houses my 'unmentionables' - mostly sex toys. when my house was broken into this was one of the ransacked spaces. nothing was taken - not even the hitachi magic wand. these people did not know their shit.
when the policeman came to inspect the house the day after, he took heaps of photos of the various disruptions. when he left, the top cabinet (the one full of dildos) was closed. he closed it to take the photo. how modest.

As my friend Sanel built a MOC for the Nine Kingdoms with snow, I also wanted to build snow, which I never did before. Combined with the western style it fits very well. So, all credits to Sanel.

Bank of America was robbed. I thought the red was blood but of course it's from the ink packet hidden inside the bill fold. When the ink pack exploded the stack of 20s were abandoned on the sidewalk.

This late '50's Austin Loadstar was the actual vehicle used in the Great Train Robbery, of 1963.
It was given to our museum owner by an aquaintance...Bruce Reynolds, mastermind of the "British crime of the century"
Authors,History researchers and many other people come from all over just to see this iconic vehicle.
This is a series of photos from Managua, taken just after I was robbed of my beloved Canon camera in April 2010. Later that day, still shaken from the robbery, I went around the older parts of town in a taxi, on edge and with a real sense of urgency, snapshooting with my not-so-good extra compact. My nerves really show, the pics are hastily and unsharp, many taken from the car window; yet for me they are so full of my deep love for the Managua cityscape. I had forgotten about these images and just found them again in my archives, preparing for my book about Managua Vieja.
Large manhunt initiated! A spectacular and mysterious robbery of a previously unknown painting report the international news. A valuable landscape painting was stolen last night from the private property of an English count. He had inherited the picture and kept it secret so far. It was secured with the latest light barrier technology. One wonders how the robbers could overcome all barriers. The ransom note is still expected. (Note: Or, for once, it's not about money – and the two little thieves (sister and brother) have just got their rightful inheritance back?)
/ Well, it's not a work of Turner ;-) It's a button that I painted at the age of about 15 years with this landscape – long ago – and I have found in the old button box ... The size is 0,63 inch, the eyelet for sewing is on the back. The two figures are from children's surprise eggs.

I had my laptop stolen from my house... there was a robbery last night whilst we were all out of the house. I lost a lot of work.. both photographs and written work. I have learnt to back up my work the hard way. I haven't lost a massive amount, as I back up now and again, but still it's frustrating. We had CSI round today to take finger prints, was so interesting to watch them dust around.
So annoying, there were quite a few pictures I'd wanted to upload... but now they are gone :( this is just an old shot I found, I had more hair then haha.
Well apart from that I have had nice things happen to me. Having such fun work experience at the moment, assisted a filmed photo shoot for a magazine cover, and will be assisting another cover shoot again soon. Such great experience, I'm learning so much.
Reached number 4 in explore!
