There was an attempted robbery with a pellet gun on Anawana Lake Road in Monticello, Wednesday night.
Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty tells YWN Catskills, that two Orthodox women were walking on Anawana Lake Road near Walmart around 10:30PM, when they heard a noise behind them. Before they were able to turn around, one of them felt someone grabbing her pocketbook. They then witnessed a female perpetrator armed with a gun, and struggling to get the pocketbook.
In the struggle, the gun fell to the floor, and the perpetrator fled on foot towards WalMart, where she was seen getting into a small car.
Thankfully, no one was hurt – including their children who were walking with them at the time – and nothing was stolen.
The Sheriff Department responded along with Catskills Hatzolah. Chaboty tells YWN Catskills that the gun used is a pellet gun.
Deputies are investigating the incident, and are looking for a white female with brown hair and a ponytail, wearing a blue jacket with a zipper on the front.

The first train robbery in the United States happened in Seymour on October 6th, 1866. Thieves known as the Reno Brothers boarded an eastbound train traveling to Ohio and entered an Adams Express Company Car. Pointing guns at employee Elem Miller, they asked for keys to the safes.
Miller only had keys to one safe, so they emptied that one and threw the other safe out of the train and decided to open that one later. Although they escaped that day, the Reno Brothers were caught by federal agents on July 9th, 1868 while they were attempting to rob another train. They were brought back to Seymour and hung from a tree at this site. This intersection is called “Hangman’s Crossing” by the Seymour residents.

Multiply by X for inflation 1986-2010 and you get the price in present-day cost. I was disinclined to accept such terms but, of course, had to go along to keep the peace.
Actually we were staying, not in Venice, but in the popular family resort of Lido di Jesolo, just down the coast. Venice was reached by bus and ferry. It made little impression on me and I don't remember it very clearly ...only the crush of tourists in St Mark's, and women being turned away at the door if their shoulders were exposed. There were indignant mutterings among the excluded, but in my uptight, uncool, fogeyish way I rather sided with the authorities. I seem to remember the bridge as being lined with chic boutique-like shops with elegant, minimalist window displays, selling overpriced jewellery or toiletries. In this it reminded me of Pulteney Bridge in Bath.
