My third entry to BobtheDoctor's Contest of Champions, Category 5: Toa Okoto Revamp. I've really been wanting to revamp Gali's set ever since I first saw those pictures, because she didn't really look any more feminine than the other Masters, and this finally gave me the chance. I tried to make her sleeker and more proportionate, but it took me two or three complete reworkings to get something I liked.
Gali wields a double-edged battle axe and diving knife that, in her Adrenaline Mode, splits into two jet-powered bladed fins and a harpoon (as well as the components needed for her "mermaid mode," not shown).

you couldn't miss it, from afar, the bright red amongst all the green definitely attracted!
Close by was the cafeteria, WINK WINK... LOL
The rusted bicycle was in France, with flower boxes!
I wish you all the very best, and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments, invites, faves and Awards. Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

In the Region of Stone, rare arcs of energy, called "Desert Lightning" by the Villagers, rip through the sand, leaving energized crystals in their wake. It was this phenomenon that Nilkuu gained the materials for his special mask, and yet the same phenomenon took his arm. He was rarely seen in his village after that. However, Skull Spiders were even more rare, thanks to his deadly accuracy with his single-shot crystal cannon.
I was trying hard for a rough and rugged desert wanderer vibe for Nilkuu. His light armor is assembled from scraps and bones, and he is protected from the sand by his large pants and scarf (because of course Nilkuu needed a scarf, it was just a shame Rey's cloth didn't work as well as I hoped). Then there's the rather obvious and noncanon crystallized arm with built in energy claw and stud sniper. Nilkuu's trans-neon yellow bones became the yellow and lime highlights throughout his body, intended to look like he had been partially crystallized himself.
In preparation for Brickfair, I revamped Ourus. The original version had terrible posability (especially in the legs) and the wings weren't the best. Her lower body has been completely revamped to get that extra posability (she even has waist articulation now!) and the wings...oh Mata Nui, the wings...I love them so much. Vast improvement over the old ones.
But, if you hate something, feel free to tear this MOC to shreds. I don't want to send something that could be a lot better to Brickfair. Don't like my camera set up (you wouldn't be the only one), don't like the new legs, don't think the wings are as cool as I make them out to be? Please say it!
As for my other MOCs, Krika is totally done save ONE PIECE. I can't find the last leg to him anywhere. I have two brothers who love to build with me and often take my pieces with them, so it's somewhere there, but I can't find it. Lewa is coming along well. I think that the problem with him (arms being too long, body too bulky) actually stems back to his body being one stud too short. After fixing that, everything looks much better. Still need to fix his limbs, but I have an interesting idea how to stop those old ball joints from falling off. Tanma is still in pieces, not much progress there. Surek still has less-than-satisfactory waist and legs, but I gave him an awesome Toa Tool. Vamprah is not happening anytime soon though (sadly).
I’ve struggled to revamp Tarix over many years, what with the delicate balance of his color scheme and a practical solution for his iconic shoulder spikes.
My solution is to shorten the spikes and maintain that balance of colors, adding in a little more Mata blue and filling in gaps.
I made this Kopaka revamp before Gali but had to post it later as I had to order his sword to complete this build. The basic idea was to resemble the original toa mata pieces while also allowing creative liberties. There’s a promotional poster out there of Kopaka carrying krana tied together so I thought that would be a cool thing to include.
5 down, 1 to go...
Flameboi's had the revamp treatment. He's got a different colour torso to the others I've done so far because I accidentally ordered the wrong type of torso from Bricklink, so I made do with this one instead. Still, I'm pleased with how he's turned out.
Now I've got to work out how to do Pohatu... Send help!
Made for Hero February over on Instagram.
Just a fun little build primarily for my own enjoyment, made with the goal of using only pieces I currently have in my collection and of course, finishing before the end of the month.
Nitroblast and the Fire Villains are definitely a soft spot for me in the HF Roster, with some very charming sets and interesting designs from the earliest days of CCBS. With this revamp I wanted to honor the most unique and iconic features from the original, while doing my best to balance a cleaner, sleeker design with the Fire Villain's signature style of spikes, flames and jet engines.
It was a lot of fun to tackle a weirder character and design, without the pressures of more humanoid proportions and techniques.
I hope you all enjoy!

Last but certainly not least, I finally got round to revamping the stoniest of Toa, Pohatu. I did want to try and do him in the style of the original sets, i.e. built "upside down" with the leg function, but I couldn't figure out a way to do it that looked good and still fitted in with my other revamps. So I've opted to do him a bit more like his Mask Of Light version, though positioning his gearbox slightly higher up gives him a bit of a beefier look to show he's still strong.
So, that rounds out the Toa Nuva team, but keep your eye out for something special soon...
I'll admit, she no longer has any trans-pieces in her head, and I didn't bother to try and fit them in. I've always read the two front indentations in the Vahki head as the actual eye holes, and the trans-bits on the sides of their heads as... more eyes, I guess? The Vahki box art didn't really emphasize the trans-pieces, and in at least three cases, the front indentations have literally been the intended eyes.
Gresh dominated much of the promotional material of the first wave of Glatorian sets in 2009 and with good reason. His color scheme indicated a bold return to the coloration of early BIONICLE sets and his jungle themed armor was a refreshing change of pace from the overabundance of silver and gray seen in the protagonists of 2008.
For this revamp I shortened the upper arms and added some more black to the legs. I have especially fond memories of building Gresh for the first time at the table in a Chilis restaurant back in 2009 as he was the last Glatorian to be stocked on shelves in my area. With the playability of his shield and vibrant color scheme, he proved entirely worth the wait and one of my more fondly remembered Glatorian.
Legendary Toa of Fire, Lhikan was Metru Nui's sole guardian. In the past, Lhikan led a team of toa against the fearsome Kanohi Dragon, and later, the Dark Hunters. Despite countless betrayals, Lhikan continued to protect the Matoran. He sacrificed his power to create 6 new toa, the Toa Metru, becoming a Turaga himself.
Alternative shots of the Moc. Unlike the set version, he can hold his swords like he does in the movie.
More to come!
2019/08/18: Like pretty much everything else in this area of downtown Place Ville Marie's plaza is undergoing a total revamp. There will be a glass topped food terasse with access to the underground plus a set of steps up to the plaza from what will be a pedestrian like mall up McGill College avenue. Looks nice in the renderings I've seen but everything is a construction nightmare around here in the meantime.
In the front right corner of the store is the pharmacy counter, which – besides produce and the aisles behind it – was probably the area of the store that had the most work done to it, beyond mere cosmetic changes. If you remember my past tour of this store with y’all, you’ll recall that there used to be a Little Clinic operating here in this corner, adjacent to the pharmacy – except that Little Clinic wound up shutting down by last summer. Clearly, then, it would make sense to remove said clinic and open that area back up to the salesfloor, which is exactly what this remodel has done. It looks really nice, and I remember distinctly taking note of that while I was here, yet somehow I absolutely completely neglected to get a photo of that wall. I honestly don’t have a clue why. The pharmacy wasn’t even open, so it’s not like I was worried about the pharmacists seeing me. I really wish I could be showing that to y’all today. There’s a nice new Wellness sign there and everything. Sigh.

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
Only recently came to appreciate how abstract his design is with those crazy shoulders and the hunched back.
This revamp fills in some gaps and fixes some proportions.

This is how the station is looking now. I remodelled it after the station at Wondelgem here in Belgium. It's about 80% done now. The dark blue bits on the roof are just to fill in as I ran out of black roof tiles. Unfortunately bricklink orders are on hold till I pay off my wife's credit card bill:( Anyway the engine shed was also redone, slimmed down and lengthened to 66 studs in length, so it can comfortably accommodate my locos.

Building Onua was a little refreshing due to his unique body type. I wanted to emphasize his arms and pack the most detail into there as we usually see him digging in the limited amount of promotional material we got.
Well, this project is just about wrapped up. I had a lot of fun with Kivoda's build, making him taller and lankier than the other Protectors (though I headcanon him as the youngest). Gali and Kivoda's armor always reminded me of wetsuits, so I tried to work that in there. I also appreciate the nod to my Gali Revamp in that chestpiece. Though I had headcanoned Kivoda as female and was rather shocked at the announcement that he was male, now I approve of the variety it provides to the Protectors.
Kivoda's "Sea Scooter" went through quite a few versions, but I'm very satisfied with how it turned out. I tried to work the spears in there, but they just didn't look great.
