I really like her expression and overall look! I thought of re-rooting her, but I couldn't. That hair is just too awesome!
Conversations with EnV and Hot Trot
EnV: How come we've been working so hard since last week? nipping here, tucking there, too much lace, standing time, even tested us on a pair of jeans for staining...
Me: Its because we have to work overtime to fill in commissions, we've been logging too much because of the exhibits and others. I have to pay the dolly bills you know...
Hot Trot: but you have your day job to pay for new stuffs.
Me: too many bills to pay sweetie... my electricity bill is almost $200, not to mention the others... now if we buy those Patta Art wig that you want and those shoes from ebay, would you want me to burn them up when im repainting your face because we did'nt pay it? now if crooked brows with two distinctly different eyes are the in thing for repaints, then we should...
EnV & Hot Trot: (looking at me with plastic eyes...) "Nagger..."
Hahahhaa!!!!
Both gowns are works for Deva Dolls.
Repaint of passenger rear panel, new paneling on slider door, black paint taken off of vinyl seat back. I used Rustoleum "Painters Choice Real Orange Enamel", at $3 a can. Matches almost perfectly.
Eric Timm live art presentation
on the fringe stage @ Creation Northwest 2009
this was the most amazing presentation i have ever seen, bar none. he started off by talking about the distorted view of Christ and the missrepresentation of Him by the world and many christians, and how that is all many people ever see. then he said, "rather than tell you, i want to show you." he turned on some music and in the duration of one song, painted this picture. upside down. no one knew exactly what he was painting until the very end when he flipped the picture over and held it above his head. i have never heard anything so audibly collective as the gasp that went up from the crowd. if you didn't have chills, you didn't have a soul.
see my comments for more pictures from this display...
So this isn’t the most movie accurate custom of Rapunzel but I based it more on her promotional oil painting-esque style depiction since I find it very difficult to translate CGI into paint form heh.
Ironically even though I cut out her molded teeth I still painted in some cute buck teeth in cuz the mouth sculpt was still very deep and it looked odd with her smiling that wide and not have teeth showing.
So yeah, not the best Rapunzel doll ever but I’m happy with what I did with the odd Mattel sculpt.
I just brought a couple more of these heads off ebay last night to try a few more of this type of repaint. I wanted to try using pencil on a repaint like Retrograde and Amber-honey do.Thanks to them both for their great tutorials!
Went fairly well, lots too keep in mind, and I want to try again and see if I can do better now I have a bit of a feel for it. Anyway, this head turned out ok for something quite new. I haven't done anything anime style in ages.
Head's on a temp body just for this photo. Her more proportional body with a smaller bust is on the way, this bod will go to my Angel gate (Pullip knockoff) head when it's complete. Hairs on the way too. Boy did I go on an ebay binge last night :P I love obitsu!
Pastel, water colour pencil and acrylic paint. Sorry for the not to great light, it's raining here, very wintery weather, and this was the nicest I got without much natural light, which I prefer :)
All these are of the same step, I just couldn't decide which ones were the most relevant. No, I don't think a single one is sharp, sorry.)
Repaint practice on a My Scene head (less ugly and more fun to work with than the Bratz head I used before). Still awful but making progress. Practicing blushing with acrylic paint on an almost dry brush (can't use pastels due to no spray sealer). I keep overdoing it...
This is a custom pullip I did for someone a few months ago. These are the photos I took of her to show what the finished doll looked like.
A repaint of the Marvel Legends Vengeance figure. I wanted it to look like the prototype (the final figure had purple bones an orange/translucent flames).
So I repainted the whole figure and it's bike and replaced the cheap looking plastic spikes on it's shoulders with real nails.
