One of the most interesting islands in the Andamans is the Ross Island. Strategically located in the bay. it served as the headquarters for the British. They could oversee all colonial administration from there. Entering the main island from the meant crossing this island.

The island had all the typical English structures - Officer's Club, Church, Pool, Tennis Court, Bakery and so on. Solidly built and made to last.

However, an earthquake and Japanese occupation changed the fate. It was abandoned for a while. Port Blair in the main island became the hub of activities and Ross island never recovered. Nature started rolling in.

Today many of the structures remain but totally encircled by the strong Ficus roots. Even the tall, majestic church didn't escape. However Indian Navy has taken over. Perhaps its strategic location is still valuable though the communication and sighting technologies have progressed quite far. Visitors are allowed during the day.

It was in this island that we got to see the unique Andaman Pigeon. We didn't see much of wild life in this trip. We saw corals, jellyfish.colourful tropical fish but not much else.

this frame had some strange artifacts that looked like scanline distortions, which i thought were pretty cool. It looks like the surfaces are melting horizontally.
